The papers are reporting that we could be in big financial trouble again as Solak borrowed the money to buy the club and has to pay the loan back next year.

Of course, the club itself also has a debt of more than £90 mill, which will have to be paid back sometime. The promise of further Premier League income has probably kept the banks happy until now.

It sounds a lot like the last time we were relegated. Points deductions in the offing?

It's all right: the financial experts on Saintsweb have explained it away. Phew. I was beginning to get a bit worried. Makes you wonder why rags like The Times even bothered reporting it.

I can’t quite get Fans on Saintsweb, Twitter or Facebook who think we will have this big financial advantage over other teams next season .

Like you say we have a debt to pay of £90 plus have to fund the £125 million we paid out this season then there is the fact our team become will go down by at least 55%
.
We will get some back in the summer by the impending player sales and other cost cutting measure that will be put in place but I’m not convinced we will be in this great financial position to mount a promotion bid .

I said a few years ago that our situation reminded me a lot of Bolton's 10 years earlier and we still seem to be following in their footsteps. They had 4 consecutive top 8 finishes. Then they sold their best players, including their top goal scorer, struggled for a few years before being relegated, had financial problems and eventually ended up in League One.

As the paper says Solak has a fortune of a billion, so a loan of £110m won't give him sleepless nights.
He'll want to capitalise his investment which means supporting the club through thick and thin.
