Been away for the last week in Spain, Madrid & Valencia to be exact.
1. I wasn't impressed with Madrid, it was ok but not a lot to do to be honest compared with other capital cities
2. The Bernabeu is impressive as a building, but from outside you would not know it was a football stadium from outside, it is just a big silver building with nothing on it to suggest it is the home of Real Madrid.
3. Valencia's stadium was pretty much like an english football ground from outside, the new stadium looks very impressive, but it has been under construction since 2007, they ran out of money in 2009 and it has only started again in January 2025, they are hoping to be in for the start of the 2027/28 season and we all though Everton's new ground took a long time.
4. Spanish trains are very efficient, the high speed train between Madrid & Valencia take 2 hours to go about 200 miles and are very comfortable, if you go at the right time its only about 17 euros each way.
5. Real Oviedo were staying in the same hotel as me ahead of their game at Valencia, I saw their team bus outside but left before their squad were about |  |
