| The Adam Blackmore Interview 00:21 - Oct 16 with 1077 views | Southamptonfan | https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/fo Scroll down to listen. Adam has deleted all of his social media accounts due to some of the hate received for his question to Tonda. It has all been blown out of proportion. Adam just said that some fans were worried about the lineup, but were proved wrong. Tonda snapped back thinking his decisions werw being questioned after a win, he is a fierce, intense character after all, but some fans have resorted to abusing Adam Blackmore online. All a bit unnecessary. I don't think Blackmore was being rude, just could have worded the question better. [Post edited 16 Oct 0:25]

| The Adam Blackmore Interview on 01:25 - Oct 16 with 997 views | washington_saint | The issue is that Blackmore cannot stop banging on about Spygate, darkest day in clubs history (utter nonsense), how he would of sacked Tonda, etc. It's no wonder Tonda has very little time for him. That being said any abuse online is ridiculous and, unfortunately, is representative of where we are at in this day and age. | | | |
| The Adam Blackmore Interview on 08:33 - Oct 16 with 772 views | Jellybaby | Adam Blackmore is in the employ of the BBC, who instigated a witch hunt against Tonda, Blackmore towed the party line, assuming Tonda would not survive. Thankfully the club resisted that pressure and Tonda now has the last laugh. Blackmore has made his bed and will now suffer the consequences - an uneasy and prickly relationship with Tonda. A miscalculation by Adam - hard to be sympathetic to him, but obviously not deserving of online abuse. | |

| The Adam Blackmore Interview on 09:33 - Oct 16 with 694 views | saintmark1976 | It’s not before time in my opinion that someone queried Mr Blackmore’s approach. In my view he has in the past had an over inflated view as to what his job as a B B C journalist employee entails. To me, he gives the impression that he thinks he is a member of the Saints management team. In particular when he comments on Solent during and after match days about team selection and tactics. He needs to understand that although he hosts the pre season Fans Forum, after that Tonda and other senior management don’t answer to him. As for people giving him abuse on social media that’s totally out of order. By all means state strongly held views on an open medium such as The Ugly, but it should never ever become personal. | |

He led the campaign against Tonda down here and wanted him sacked. So, if Tonda doesn't treat him with kid gloves, it's understandable. I believe Tonda got a hell of a lot more abuse online than Blackmore ever did, partly stirred up by BBC Sport's campaign against him.

| The Adam Blackmore Interview on 10:07 - Oct 16 with 635 views | shotters | I stopped listening to AB towards the end of Ralph’s time with us His admiration and friendship with him clouded his journalistic judgment imo After every defeat the questions were asked with a ready made answer ie “So Ralph, another defeat today for your injury ravaged squad” On a different note, does Lewis Coombes support Saints? Or is he there for South Today I’ve seen him outside the family stand at every game I’ve been to this season | |

Adam Blackmore works for a small regional station with a small budget , so he is fulfilling two or three roles , as commentator, as pundit and then as a journalist, probing for underlying nuggets behind every big story. BBC News and Sport is no different to other mainstream Media in looking for headlines, preferably with a bit of breaking sensation. It's not a BBC witchhunt, it is their job. It's not a nice job but you will see it wherever you see a microphone shoved under someone's nose. As a pundit he can express his opinion, but it may later conflict with his role as an "objective interviewer".
| The Adam Blackmore Interview on 10:44 - Oct 16 with 568 views | BathSaint | Personally I think the question was perfectly reasonable..most fans were nervous with that squad selection, and after all Adam even said it proved why Tonda was the manager rather than us. The response seemed well out of line to me. If Tonda suddenly starts acting entitled and aggressive now he's been cleared by the FA it would just make those rumours of bullying junior staff seem more likely. The whole thing makes me very uncomfortable. As a fan base I think we are very lucky to have someone as passionate and brilliant on commentary as Adam, it's a terrible look to treat him so badly imo. I don't think he was unfair in spygate, the daily mailed and sky sports were far worse. | | | |

This is spot on, looking at these posts some people accuse him of cosying up to the club and others of withchunts against it. What he has done is comment on the club and give an opinion, but if it isn't a one that the listener agrees with, then they will slag him off, if they agree with him then they will think he is a very wise commentator. Lewis Coombes is a Saints supporter, I know his father who was himself a big Saints fans

It's not for Tonda to blow his own trumpet and boast how smart he is. He must have thought the answer was bloody obvious anyway. Copied and pasted from another thread: Credit to Tonda again. He manages the squad through the season brilliantly. He calculates what is required to win a game and still be ready to win the next one. He rests key players when he can. With a less astute manager, we might thrash a few of the weaker teams, then have injuries to our best players and run out of steam before the end of the season. Leo Scienza really needs breaks to recover from all the kicking he takes. Like most of you, I was sceptical about Edozie's selection, but he created our only goal with a brilliant run. One thing I've learned about Tonda's team selection, is that he has a long-term plan for the whole season, and he knows a lot better than we do how to win as many games as possible. It means that sometimes our less able players get selected for games that we win by a narrower margin than we might otherwise have done. No Saints manager has a better win record than he does after so many games. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ PS I've never seen you post on here before (sorry if I've missed something, Bath Saint). It's odd that the first post I've seen from you is so vitriolic against our manager. When you are doing a post match interview there are no real scripts, the interviewer will have made a few notes in his head about what he is going to ask, but he isn't reading off a script. Likewise the person being interviewed firstly doesn't known what he is going to be asked and therefore has to answer quickly from the top of his head. The manager is still pumped up from the game and adrenalin is flowing. Having seen the question it seems that it was the phrase "I think we all doubted or worried about the team selection" That is a fairly accurate question to ask, I didn't predict it in the preview and everyone I have spoken to said they were a bit worried when they saw it. But that phrase was only the first part of a sentence which continued, "Youv'e won with a second clean sheet in a row now talk us through the thinking with the changes. A perfectly fair question, it has stated what most Saints fans were thinking, it has complimented him on the win and intimated that it was good management and then he has asked what the thinking was. In the question effectively covering 3 bases. So I am not sure why Tonda didn't like the question, maybe it was the pressure of the last week coming out, starting with not knowing whether he would be in a job by that evening and ending with two good victories. English is Tonda's second language and he seems a man who being German is short sweet and to the point. He reminds me of Gordon Strachan who was similar himself apart from being Scottish and would often reply to reasonable questions with flippant remarks. Example, "Gordon can I have a quick word ? " simple one word answer "Velocity" Adam Blackmore is in a difficult position, he is caught between the club and the fanbase, when the club is doing badly, the fanbase cheer him for asking difficult questions, when it's doing well the fanbase slag him off for daring to criticise or asking difficult questions. If the same question had been asked a year ago to Will Still, then the fans would have a different view, they would have praised Blackmore for challenging the manager of his team selection and slagged of Will Still for being rude & arrogant

I agree. Adam Blackmore annoyed Tonda because he asked the question about his team selection that every single one of us had asked when the team was announced. If we'd lost the game and Blackmore hadn't mentioned the team selection he'd have been equally crucified. Anyway, he's better off not being on twitter, it's an absolute cesspit.

The BBC and all mainstream media outlets have long since stopped acting like the fourth estate and applying checks and balances against the powers that be, because they are bought and paid for, so whether their instructions are explicit or implicit. it is not always clear, however we know there was a huge amount of oxygen given to this (non) story and Blackmore followed the prevailing mood. So if Tonda doesn't respect Blackmore for the part he played in the "witch hunt" it's hardly surprising. Blackmore could be asking the question, why the punishment was unduly harsh, why the independent panel was not really independent, why the BBC went in so hard? These it would seem are questions he was not prepared to ask....

| The Adam Blackmore Interview on 14:13 - Oct 16 with 221 views | SonicBoom | That just sounds like you have your own agenda against "main stream media". It really isn't that deep. I doubt the director General of the BBC said "get word to our man Blackmore down there in Southampton to give that German guy a good kicking. It will be good for us at the BEEB if he gets the sack at some point". Football fans are so fickle and Tonda is going ok at the moment so he cannot be questioned which is frankly ridiculous. From a tactics point of view he took a big risk with his line up and fiar play he just about got over the line. However had it not paid off then we would have lost out of 3 points at a time that everyone else is beating Norwich. So questioning his thinking is fine, we're not there to kiss his arse all the time. Secondly let's not forget there would have been no witch hunt by anyone if he hadn't cheated. I'll never be convinced he "didn't know the rules". There are certainly people at the club who would have said "Er we don't and cant actually do this". So if I were Tonda I'd still be on a bit of a charm offensive at least for a while. He kept his job and gets support so snapping at local journos the moment you think you're in the clear is yet another bad look. Some will say he went to Norwich and cleverly used the bare minimum of his assets to get the three points. Or you might think that he tinkered and very nearly blew the game by picking square pegs in round holes and was lucky to get away with it. Either way, people are entitled to ask questions. | | | |
| The Adam Blackmore Interview on 15:08 - Oct 16 with 127 views | Ifonly | Over reactions all round. I'm no fan of Blackmore but he was just doing his job. Tonda's reaction was a bit thin skinned. Judging by Jo Tessem's comments his body language was very prickly. If he wants a career in football he'll need to get used to far more difficult questions than that. There was nothing wrong with the question from Blackmore. But he's still a very inexperienced manager, so he needs to be cut some slack and given time to learn. Handling media duties isn't easy for anyone, especially if English isn't your first language. Some of our fans need to grow up. I follow a few Saints accounts on Twitter. If next time it's someone like Alfie House who has to close his account because he's said something to upset the morons, then we're all worse off. Maybe also though, it's an over reaction by Blackmore too. That kind of sh1t isn't unusual in the sewers on X. In Blackmore's position, he should rise above it. | | | |
| The Adam Blackmore Interview on 15:09 - Oct 16 with 126 views | SaintPaulVW | Having listened to it, it doesn't sound like there was any agenda in the question. It is actually self deprecating, in essence the point was 'We were worried but you were right all along.' Tonda may have misheard or misinterpreted it. English is his second language and German sentence structures can be a bit different. File under tomorrow's chip papers. | | | |
| The Adam Blackmore Interview on 16:27 - Oct 16 with 42 views | UTS1885 | I dont think there is anything wrong with what Adam has said and its exactly what many fans would have been thinking when the team sheet dropped an hour before the game. The idea that Blackmore has been wanting Tonday to be sacked is total garabage, Last week he was duty bound to mention on radio before commentary the outcome of the FA sanctions. Sadly there are too many faceless helmets on social media these days, which has ruined the whole thing. [Post edited 16 Oct 16:29]
