And there is one from the Development squad in years gone by, that we let go for an undisclosed fee (probably 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps) now playing in the Premiership with Burnley... Josh Laurent. |

If anything, Varane playing as he currently is, is more likely to see his value drop or even put off would be buyers . Hayden or Field should take over for the next two matches. Preferably Hayden as Field can cover at left back if RND needs to be rested. |

Too true. Play Smyth even if ge doesn't sign a new contract. How much do they think they can sell him for in January? How much did they sell Manning for, or Bright O-S for? If memory serves me right they went for around £250k each. QPR will get more than that from the gate receipts at West Ham in the FA Cup. Smyth has to play. He is fit, rarely gets injured and provides essential defensive support on either flanks. He also could have played Burrell's role last night, albeit not as well, but would have been far more effective than Field as the number 10. |

That mirrors my opinion of Vale too. He was rusty, but yesterday's cameo was pathetic and non league standard. I think he lost possession everytime the ball was played to him. He may be better than he has shown so far this season, but definitely not as a right sided winger or midfielder. The game wasn't lost because of Vale or even the other players, but it was down to the changes and as pointed out , the lack of partnerships within the team. The defeat is solely down to Stephan's team selection. |

That could be applied to a few others that we have loaned out to 6th or 7th tier clubs. If they are not going out on loan to L1 or 2 clubs at 19 or 20yrs then they will almost certainly be good enough for the Championship. |

He needs to go out on loan in January to play against men and not boys in the development team (the old football combination league would have solved that problem). QPR should look to sign another left back in January. I said to family before the game started when showed the line up that Esquerdinha would be a weak link as he was against Ipswich. The kid is clearly not ready for Championship football. |

That's Charity Park Rangers for you. 4 rancid away performances in a row. Norwich Middlesbrough Portsmouth and now WBA. We made Middlesbrough look like world beaters, but they have struggled since then against teams like Blackburn and Hull. No shots in the 1st half (only slightly more in the second) at a struggling Portsmouth and none at a bang average WBA after such a convincing home win over Leicester suggests things have gone to their heads or maybe too much Christmas celebrations or goodwill to others. I saw very little effort or desire to win either of those games from most of the players on show (Dunne and Hamer did). Edit : i only watched the 2nd half and Hamer made a few important saves. Maybe they are tired and have not really been trained for fitness properly in the pre season. Whatever it is, it's not good enough. [Post edited 30 Dec 10:45]

Yes, I also remember the 7:30 kick off times. I think they changed to 7:45 in the late 80s or early 90s. |

I think another 1-1 draw is likely to be the result. Qpr don't score many away from home and tomorrow won't be any different. However, if they start as they did at Portsmouth, WBA will win comfortably. |

Same here. The defence has been ok apart from some misplaced passes (Cook should not have conceded the corner though. However, the midfield wingers and forwards have been hugely disappointing. No control of the game, poor tackling, poor ball control and a real lack of movement or fluency in attack. It’s as I know thought it would be -, a case of after the Lord Mayor’s Show. I dob expect it will get b tree in the second half. |

No real surprise that they scored and none also that it was another poor touch from Dembele that set it up - he had a terrible 1st half. A few minutes before the goal he had a chance to play a pass to create a scoring opportunity and gave the ball away instead. |

You can use the lift in the left luggage area. Near the box office. [Post edited 25 Dec 14:06]

Stephan's reaction to Mbengue's goal is classic. He couldn't believe what he had just seen. |

Thanks Clive, for this write up. With an appalling record like that for Boxing Day away games it's hard to even be confident that anything will change tomorrow. Especially after such a great performance against Leicester. The phrase after the lord mayor's show immediately springs to mind. However, I am feeling a bit more optimistic that QPR will put in a good performance at Portsmouth and actually get a result. |

Didn't Leyton Orient offer him more money to stay with them? I don't think many of us would consider him disloyal if the club tried that stunt. |

Don't forget his willingness to track back and make tackles (some very good ones too). He can also move over to the left wing if required. Oh and not all players have to have much of a resale value when approaching the end of their contracts . Although if he was re-signed on a 3 year deal and QPR wanted to sell him in 18 months time, I am confident that they could sell him to a promotion chasing League 1 club for £500k or more. They sold Dykes for £1m. |

Vale is not good enough on the right wing. He doesn't take players on and always looks to cut in on his left foot to shoot. He should play on the left instead (if good enough to displace Saito or Chair). As for Poku, it would be good to see him start at least one of the four festive fixtures. We have so far, only seen glimpses of what he can do. |

Probably a far more entertaining final than the dull 1-0 Germany v Argentina one. |

That's also how I recall it. Shame we didn't get Houghton too, because he was brilliant and helped Oxford beat us in the Milk Cup final a few seasons later. |

I don't think Walsh will be any better next season without going out on loan in January. As for Mahoney, going by what has been shown on the Football League highlights, I don't think he is having a particularly good season at Barnsley. I wouldn't be confident on him being a possible 1st choice keeper next season. When Dieng was on loan at Doncaster he was keeping clean sheets and getting very good reviews, I don't think Mahoney is performing at the same level. |
