You do our players justice with this great report Clive, but I'd still argue not enough.
Saw you say this on the forum, but I disagree. The fans did not drag the team back: for once, the team dragged the fans. I didn't think there was much noise at all start of the second half: most people, if they were sane, knew the game had gone. But they came out, had two quick shots, and people thought 'well, maybe...' and THEN the noise built. I give the players all the credit in the world for that (and I'm not dissing on the fans here, who were excellent). |

Yersss. The extremely telling implication here is that, previously, the coaching and medical 'departments' were not working as a team, or at least, not effectively, which is absolutely baffling. |

Excellent report clive.
I think Chair’s workrate is worth a mention. Pretty much 2 years out and his fitness was incredible. Boring thing but in injury time we had a throw about level with our own pen box. No one showed. So Chair sprinted 30 yards to receive, moved the ball on, and then ran 40 yards back the other way to close down a defender after we’d lost possession. At that stage of the game I thought that was outstanding. A real example to our younger players.
Thought Bonham was good but as you never give out 10s, meaning 9 is your highest score, I think that’s generous. It wasn’t Sommer v Villa. |

I think the optimism from fans (and Gab Sutton) is wildly misplaced this season - I can't see anything better than lower midtable at best, and possibly a scrap against relegation. I'm just not seeing what others are: far too many 'ifs' ('if Poku gets fit... if Burrell regains his form... if Kone pushes on... if Lamptey gets fit (he won't)... if Varane has a better season... if Madsen stays fit... if Chair finds his form... if Cycling Ben works out how fitness works... and so on) for me. But, other than the useless farce at the end, I was encouraged by this performance, particularly defensively. I don't think there'll be many better CB pairings than Dunne and Cheekbones around this season. |

Hands up, the FA Cup stuff is all down to me.
I did a deal with the devil that I can't even remember the details of, but I was so desperate for us to beat Luton all those years ago I made some promises. Shabazz Baidoo scored with his fist, so if you want evidence of something didgy happening, there you go. Surely there's a 25-year time limit on these deals?
