89/90
at 19:57 26 Aug 2015

89/90 was a really enjoyable season, lots of exciting football. Who can forget the 4-1 at QPR the 4-1 at home to Liverpool, the 6-3 win over Luton. 89-90 was the season that i started joining the 'singers' on the east terrace,i used to stand under the Aiwa electronics sign, roughly in line with the Archers 18 yard line. Best memory of that season for me was the 4-2 win over Swindon in the League cup. We were 2-0 down and going out, but came back to win in extra time. I will never forget the bundles on the terraces that night! We could have gone on to have had a side capable of winning things with Flowers, Shearer, Wallace, Le Tissier, Rideout, Cockerill, Case.....we sold Wallace, Shearer etc ....Sounds familiar eh!

Someone else on here mentioned that the 83-84 season was good, it was a very good season finishing 2nd to Liverpool. We had a bloody good defence of Shilton, Mills, Dennis, Wright, Abgoola then a midfield of Holmes, Armstrong, Williams, with a front line of D Wallace, Moran and Frankie Worthington. I remember the 8-2 win over Coventry, the 5-0 win over Spurs, the 2-0 win over Liverpool and the FA Cup run where we reached the semi and played Everton at Highbury (another story in itself that one). . The cup run sticks out though...Pompey at Fratton (great great day), Hillsborough, Ewood Park, Was going to lots of away then. Stopped doing them untill 88-89 when i did lots for a few more seasons. Then i got married had a mortgage and you can guess the rest lol.
