"A season for us all to forget - I can't really find anything positive that I will remember it for"!!!
What?. Not even Truenorth and I discussing the pros and cons of Ninja airfryers yesterday because we were bored witless with the football?
I don,t listen to the clapping seals interviews anymore but am confident he was very proud of them.
Beginning to question my sanity actually choosing to watch this parody of what football should be about.. There is,nt one single player, with the winner mentality, in that bunch in the mode of a Cooksey, Jones or Grant Holt.
Mcnultys teams play like he used to play, languid with the ever present huge potential of an enormous rick along the way.
ps Hats off to the Dorking manager. Its not often the clapping seal is outdone in the touchline style department.

Club Appeal Red Card..
at 13:35 4 Apr 2024

Never ever in a month of Sundays did I think I would agree with the "Resident Pedant" but spot on D,Alien. An appeal is wrong on so many counts, not the least is that he is hardly a goal machine.
ps In the seventies when football was both a contact sport and exciting that tackle would have been considered a no nonsense blood and thunder challenge and lauded for it, but even a luddite like me can see that it was an easy decision for the ref.
pps I sneaked a comma in for you D Alien. Did you spot it?

Regardless of the mitigating circunstances within the club, I have just realised that I have found a spat between two strangers on a forum more entertaining than the game I have just witnessed. Concerning!!

Its style over substance Jim, AND IT IS,NT WORKING!!!!!!
The players must love you and your philosophy. It means, with one or two exceptions they can fulfil their contracts without breaking into a sweat. Everyone can see it (including opposing managers) except the people running the club.

Imagining our opponents team talk is,nt difficult. "From the kick off let them do their Man City impression, let them feel good about themselves while we settle in. After awhile start pressing them, get some crosses into the box and we will be one up from poor defending. They will then wake up and we must be prepared to defend but don,t worry they won,t shoot unless they can see the whites of our goalkeepers eyes" .

I think our squad is capable but we play in a straightjacket of our own making.
Carry on in this vain and we will soon be flirting with relegation again.

Ebbsfleet United (H) - Match Thread

Knowing Dalenet personally Bluevein, I am 100% certain that none of his post was meant to be sarcastic or a wind up. As he states he was saddened at the incompetence of the club and the printer comment was merely an attempt to provide an alternative possible solution for a fellow fan. He is a chap that would go out of his way to help other folk and that would be his intention with the printer suggestion.

I don,t disagree D,Alien (never thought I would write that) There are just too many red flags surrounding this EGM. If this forum is in any degree representative of shareholders notifications then the legitimacy of the vote itself must be called into question.
From reluctance of the two directors to make a case, silence from the remaining board, off field performance and a manager who states we are not ready for the season, it appears to be a complete shambles. D,Alien won,t like the phrase but we are sleepwalking again.

As you say. it may well be a good football decision. It is also a decision that pays no regard to the lifeblood of football, namely the paying customer. I know personally that Dalenet travels a great distance for home games on a regular basis and can quite understand why he is pisxed off. As am I and I live 5 minutes from the ground.

I have no opinion of the motives, competency or character of the parties involved in this. I have never had contact with either. They may be saints, they may be sinners.
However based on my own interaction with the club, the way this has been handled with the typical secret squirrel approach and the trajectory of the club downwards in practically every aspect, I,m confident of one thing.
Namely to give this board funds (however raised) is hope over experience. I cannot buy into the argument that it is a stop gap to gain time for a deal with interested parties. I have heard talk of interested parties since 1969 and other than rich benefactors such as Ratcliffe nothing has come to pass.
Stop gap funding for what we are told is an emergency without any supporting case other than what is reactively dragged into the shareholder debate is a case for a "No" vote in itself. More funding without a change in direction is akin to loading more coal onto the Titanic in mid Atlantic in order to go faster.
It is all very depressing.

Even if this proposal was a perfectly altruistic action by the two directors and the lien nestled in safety, I ask myself the most pertinent reasonable question. Taking judgement on the current Boards performance to date, would I want the money raised to be utilised by them going forward. Absolutely not. You might believe that SG is a cross between Mother Theresa and Warren Buffet but such a proposal still requires a plan going forward. Ie some form of justification that other options have been explored and how the money is to be spent.
I can,t help feeling that as another has already intimitated, there is an "or else" in the offing.

It would still be a fan owned club. Effectively owned by just two fans when and if it all goes pear shaped.

I echo your sentiments Howy.
Sadly I fear we will be disappointed. Have said it a few times. Nowadays I go to Dale as a social event and I fear through habit. Its absolutely not for any entertainment value from the football. But as always the powers that be know best. We are just the paying customers.
To be fair, its not just Dale. Buck passing and back passing is rife throughout the game.

Agreed Elldale. We will all run an eye over new signings as to their footballing ability, but far more important is a squad that is fit and with the desire to give their all, leaving nothing on the pitch. Too many, (that unfortunately we appear to be stuck with) in this squad, just went through the motions last season. They were patently unfit on their return from Scotland and were bone idle throughout the seaon. Give me an honest set of grafters any day over a set of shirkers with an over inflated sense of their own abilities. Unfortunately in the modern game with its negative approach, where it is acceptable to constantly pass back and square, it is eay to coast, rather than graft to make things happen. At no point last season did we exhibit the cup match, 90 minutes graft that might just have saved us from the drop. Far more important next season than footballing ability will be to get the mentality of the dressing room fired up. Otherwise I fear a repeat and rinse.

Trust meeting with the club
at 15:48 20 May 2023

I don,t disagree with any of that 49th but instantly off the top of my head a couple of options for the board spring to mind.
Stop promising initiatives such as seeking fan based help and then fail to deliver. It fosters a disconnect with those willing to help especially as we are then treated like mushrooms.
Get rid of the consultants and employ an experienced CEO . I have read somewhere on here (can,t remember where) that consultants are a cheaper option. I will candidly say that I very much doubt that.
I heard anecdotally (so feel free to shoot me down if it is incorrect) that the lad selling programmes on the Wilbutts, Sandy Lane corner was selling them from a carrier bag at the end of the season. When asked where his trolly was, he stated that the wheels had fallen off (the trolly not the club) and the club could,nt afford to fix it. Are we to actually believe that in the whole of our fan base there is,nt someone who could fettle some trolly wheels gratis. Its a trivial issue but for me it sums up where we are as a club.
Time will tell. If we are mid table at Christmas then hopefully everyone will be getting their mojo back. Sadly I,m in the pessimistic camp. Hope I,m proved well and truly wrong.

Trust meeting with the club
at 09:12 20 May 2023

Having read the statement in the hope of catching some hope, or at least a little enthusiasm for the coming campaign, I was left sadly disappointed.
We have an inexperienced manager, given the job, apparently on the basis that he can talk the talk, in an interview. An in-house appointment with frightening parallels with a certain BBM. I hope that goes better the second time around.
We have a Board that in hock to the tune of £500k seemingly now rely on a faceless outside body for decision making. I am quite prepared to accept that the Boards priority is "survival of the club". I also sadly recognise that the boards only means of recouping that money is via an outside investor. That situation sadly is fraught with danger.
We have a fanbase that after the last 4 years, if this forum is any gauge is weary, disenchanted and crying out for reconnection with the club. Most fans of my acquaintance can endure the misery on the pitch but the feeling this Board manage to convey, that more or less everything clubwise should be on a "need to know" basis really does rankle.
Oh well. What could possibly go wrong?
On a positive note some facts I have learn,t only recently regarding the National League (via the kindly Notts County gentleman) I find very attractive. Five on the bench max, no ridiculous transfer window and a localised Xmas fixture list I fully agree with. I have also long thought that the National League play off system is much fairer to all concerned. Why it has,nt been adopted by the EFL I have no idea, but would guess that money comes into the equation soewhere along the line.
Interesting times ahead indeed.
