I counted 5 times where we lost the ball in our own area while playing Russball, fortunately the mistakes didn't cost us but why give them so many opportunities? Whenever we hit it long we very often take possession further up the field in more dangerous positions and bypass half their team.
Our small window of opportunity of automatic promotion will be snuffed out if we don't change it.

No, we're playing it dangerously around our own area and they putting a lot of pressure on us....they smell a 2nd.

We spend 70% of the game in our half tapping the ball about so we don't have opportunities to score. If we're not in their half or better still, their box, we won't have chances...it's simple logic.

Are the coaching staff just a bunch of 'yes' men?
Surely they must see what we see, a great defence, dismantled for one player. Do any of them have the balls to speak up or are they worried they'll lose their jobs? I get the feeling RM won't suffer dissenters.

Why things have gone wrong
at 16:55 3 Apr 2024

All good points. I would add, that we don't attack quickly enough. Our build up is painfully slow and allows opposition to organise their defence, Leicester, Leeds and Ipswich win the ball and go straight for the jugular!...they attack in numbers and score. Liverpool and City are masters of this. City do a couple of passes around the back, THEN it's forwards at high speed.
Our second goal was exactly how it's done, run at the opposition and don't give them time to settle, BUT we do it so little. RM has to change his system to accommodate this, but we all know it won't happen.

You optimism is astounding! How are we going to build a better team when all our best players will leave?

Bournemouth are a tin pot club, but their team is better than ours.

You've got it in a nutshell, why have we persisted with him for so long. He's disappointed every season but the club can't see it.

Why do we make everything so difficult!!!!!!
We need to just efficiently eliminate teams like this, so many fook ups.

Playing out from the back
at 16:54 29 Feb 2024

Agreed.
Watching the City fa Cup game, RM thinks he's copying them, but they only dwell on the ball for a few passes at the back before they quickly get it forward. For every short ball at the back, their keeper played a long ball up field, usually to a player who immediately attacked, or flicked it on to a player in an attacking position. No fanying around, one or two kicks and it's and it's in a dangerous area. I know they've got world class players but they are not slaves to possession football like us. RM needs to take note.

I recall somewhere that safe standing means you can increase capacity.

Our support
at 10:49 25 Feb 2024

We were in the morgue that is the Kingsland/Chapel corner where you can hear a pin drop, I didn't hear much from the rest of the ground though. If the support had got going it might have galvanised the team to attack more.

We tried down the left, then we went round the back, then we tried down the right, then we went round the back again....repeat about a hundred times. We never tried to go through the middle, no guile no ingenuity, nobody being brave, no gambling, we just look so predictable. We desperately miss someone up front who can head the ball properly cos when our crosses did come in Milwall cleared them easily.
What really pisses me off is that a few weeks ago we were putting in penetrating balls and scoring easily, which all points to no having Downes in the team.
Very depressing.

RM needs to tell Bazunu and the backs to start hitting long balls and bamboozle Hull completely.

Thought Smallbone played really well tonight, cut out lots of balls and initiated some great attacking moves. Aribo did well along with Brooks. Sulamana is bonkers, and needs to keep to simple passing. Stephens gave me grey hair.

Tonight

You've got to think that the defeat to Bristol City will have broken our spell of being invincible and will show other teams how to beat us, but it will also galvanise the team and RMs thinking/tactics so it might be to our advantage. We were more direct a few games ago, maybe he'll attack more quickly tonight and take the game to them. No plodding tonight let's hope.
