Not really a level playing field is it comparing a company’s turnover to an individual claiming universal credit.

Also, you do understand the difference between turnover and profit don’t you? There are multiple fixed costs to run a business and not only do we have to worry about paying those, we have to worry about being paid. Fortunately my business is in a pretty healthy position going into this, but I fear it’ll be decimated when we come out the other side.

I don’t want sympathy and yes, I don’t have to worry about feeding my family, but sticking two fingers up and underestimating the pressures small business owners are under through all this is crass.

Totally agree pal...I’m in exactly the same boat. Those that have no sympathy for directors who draw dividends for their salary forget or don’t understand the amount of corporation tax businesses pay. If we’re still trading in the coming years, you watch them whack that up as well as the tax rate on dividends to pay for all this.

Furthermore, as a business owner, not only do I have to worry about losing at least 2 months worth of trade (about £200k for us), the more concerning factor is getting the money in from customers purchases in Feb and March which will be due by end of April. Are these businesses really going to pay up with so much uncertainty in their own businesses? I fear that’ll be the most likely thing to take us down.

Did you clap for the NHS tonight?
at 22:25 26 Mar 2020

Not really my kind of thing, but the Mrs and nipper wanted to do it, so I mooched out with them. Was quite surprised nearly every house in our street participated and even the ships were giving it some welly with their horns too. I was quite taken aback tbh.

130 will no doubt be using these statistics to celebrate yet another victory for Portsmouth over Southampton.

I never understand why people get so bitter and twisted about politics, where whatever is said/done is met by sneering criticism and abuse.

If Boris personally guaranteed you unlimited tit w@nks with Kelly Brook, you’d still call him Tory scum.

As exclusively revealed by me after his appointment; his mum ran/owned the chemist at the bottom of Burgess Rd and his dad was the senior partner at Raymond Rd surgery. The family used to live on the street I grew up on.

If any of us were sad enough to check, I'm pretty sure we'd find your mongboards full of bitter posts about you losing your best players to bigger clubs.....like, er, Wigan.

My holiday to Tenerife
at 19:35 15 Mar 2020

I was due to be going to Orlando for 2 weeks at Easter, but as my flights were originally booked with Thomas Cook, I didn’t bother re-booking with another airline after they went pop. Blessing in disguise really as I got all my money back and it happened long before I’d shelled out on hotels and theme park tickets etc which would’ve been trickier reclaiming on.

After that failure we decided to book a weeks break at a lovely cottage in Northumberland instead, so hopefully we’ll still be ok with that and we won’t all be forced to stay locked in our houses.

Got a cruise to the fjords booked for August too, but really don’t fancy that much as things stand.

Incredible Saints fans let down again
at 18:45 8 Mar 2020

I go to enough games to draw my own conclusions. Yes, of course I’m generalising, but in my opinion, as a fan base, the actual backing we give the team is often poor. Anyone can get excited and sing when they’re winning and brushing the opposition aside with ease, but when we’re struggling (so most of the time), we have a tendency to moan rather than encourage.

Having said that, I’ve long since accepted it as a by-product of modern football as most Premier League grounds are sterile places a lot of the time. The “greatest league in the world” does that to most clubs, especially the also rans, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it or kid myself our support is unreal.

If you think otherwise, good for you...like I said, just my opinion.

We really don’t mate...our fans are pretty crap in general and I think you’re getting a bit carried away about our great support.

Yes, for 20 mins or so in the 2nd half the whole ground rallied and got behind the team and it did feel like a bit of a turning point for us as it hasn’t been like that at St Mary’s for some time. Yet as soon as they scored, everyone shut up and loads fvcked off, so normal service resumed.

Yes it was gutting and of course it knocks the stuffing out of you when yet another defensive fvckup costs us, but that’s when that united front is needed more than ever. We all know our squad is weak as piss and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change for some time, so there’s no point using that as an excuse for those that spend all game moaning then fvck off with 10 minutes to go when there’s still all to play for.

Yep, all that effort thrown away by one player...such a shame.

I’m going to firmly lay the blame at Saint22’s door for this defeat as he’s been demanding Valery plays for the last 3 months.
