Well I guess we got our monies worth. Rangers were dominant in the first half and should have been further ahead at halftime. Poor decision making in the final third and bad luck meant we only got the one goal and allowed Wrexham a route back into the game. Still I thought we looked comfortable up until the red card.
Some good displays in there with Paul Smyth and RDS probably our best combination down the left if lacking creatively. Cook and Dunne again very good. Madsen and Morgan looks an exciting proposition although Morgan's passing was pretty woeful and I felt he could have shot on a couple of occasions when in good positions. Madsen was excellent and my MOM. Not sure what to make of Mbengue and Dembele down the right but they were mostly ok apart from the obvious madness at the end. Kone channelling his inner Helguson with a physical hard working display and not lacking in skill. Walsh was his usual inconsistent self.
With Mbengue out for the Ipswich match I wonder if Dunne will return to RB with Cook moving across and Edwards coming in at left centre. That's probably what I'd do although I suspect they'll just play Edwards at RB. |

Low quality fare but a strangely entertaining match as a result. Even that gut wrenching feeling that Sheff Weds were going to snatch a draw before Kolli put the match to bed. Which should have happened a lot sooner against a very poor side. I thought Jimmy Dunne was excellent and is quietly catching up with Burrell and Madsen in the POY contest for me. He was probably my player of the game but MOM has to go to Kolli. Saito was better than he has been recently but Poku doesn’t look quite right to me and it wasn’t a great surprise when he didn’t come out for the second half. Dembele is playing as if he’s got his right arm and leg bound together, I’ve no idea what’s going on with him. All the rest were about par for the course 5 or 6/10. |

Even the players I've scored lowest Andersen and Ashby worked really hard so difficult to score them too low. Andersen really struggling I think but ran and ran and ran. Even screamed out in anguish at one point audible from my seat in the away end. Fair play to him. Two players got 7 Smyth and Varane with PS MOM for me. All the rest 6. Can't fault anyone's commitment. We just need to find a bit of quality from somewhere. |

I thought it was a 7/10 team performance overall but only gave JCS a 7 and MOM.
6’s all the way otherwise except Paal who I gave a 5 (perhaps harshly). I was tempted to give Dykes MOM just for scoring but we need so much more from him and he knows it.
I look forward to reading the match report, think the words will fly off the pen for Clive in his report. An enjoyable and important win.
Special mention to Marti and Xavi. What a turnaround and so many subtle little changes in our defence today which I’ve rarely if ever seen, even when we were good. |

Agree about Paal and Smyth Geoff78. They had what I’d describe ‘quiet’ games but the overall standard was very good so 6/10 deserved. The 10/10 for Field was slightly tongue in cheek. Perhaps if he’d got the hattrick ;) |

I had Kenny Paal as my MOM, judging from my iPad stream.
I didn't really notice our centre backs. More of that. Laird was better than i've seen him for a while.
Sam Field and Tim were either good or lucky or well coached.
Chair gave the ball away too much. Lowe and Lyndon and Albert were decent.
Seny's fingertip save that wasn't possibly pivotal.

We started quite well and got the first goal for a change. I'm not sure how much that was down to good play from us or poor tactics by them. Dykes took his chance well but he won't score many easier goals with their defence completely absent.
I'm not sure what their manager said to them during that wierd first half drinks break (is that an actual thing now?) but Norwich were much more of a threat after that. More cohesive going forward but still quite weak in the press and looked vulnerable at the back.
Second half started in the worst possible way of course. I felt Paal could have been quicker to the ball for their goal after Diengs parry. After that we still created some half chances never really looked like scoring. Although Tim's shot was closer to going in than I thought at the time. Norwich looked the more likely to score at the end but I didn't really think either team did enough to win and a draw the fair result. |
