Without Mr Reed we wouldn’t have had one of the most successful periods in our history. I will always be very grateful to Les for the wonderful memories.

Have a good day all.

Derek.

I can see us picking up plenty of points from the remaining home fixtures and finishing just inside the top 10.

All the best.

I don’t come on here often due to my bad leg, when I do there seems to be a lot of bullying, we’ve lost 2 of my old pals on here already due to it. I enjoy your posts Saint 22, I think the problem is you’re too forward thinking and progressive compared to some of the knuckle draggers on here.

Campaign To Give Franny A Knighthood
at 18:31 9 May 2019

You echo my thoughts GasGaint on the subject to a degree. I have no time these days for any celebs or people that are in the public eye as they all come across as self interested, self promoting narcissistics in my view.

The honours system has been devalued greatly in the last 20 years I’d say, classic example was when Dave and Samcam handed the out like sweets to all their mates.

And I agree, ordinary people who have an MBE, you know they’ve done something worthwhile in most cases to receive the award. With Francis I feel a bit different as I think it would be one in the eye to all those less deserving of a knighthood to kind of show them up for what they are. Maybe that’s a bit childish of me to think. However, do I think Franny should receive a knighthood then I’d say 100% yes, but I won’t hold my breath as he’s not high profile enough for the establishment to honour...Hope I’m proved wrong though.

I really appreciate your insights regarding the club TCM. I would be even more appreciative if you could just shed the slighted bit of light on the plan moving forward, is James Ward-Prowse going to be made a future captain? Who is going to help Les in the next transfer window with recruitment? These questions as fans we need to know the answers to.

I trust Les, but the silence at present is a bit unnerving!

I agree Matt. I cannot understand why 3 managers have left him on the bench. I don’t buy this “Well they must see something in training”. Start the fella for 10 games and feed him balls into the box. Down the wings and through the middle. Lemina can supply balls through the channels, I’ve seen him do it, but he’s had it coached out of him.

It's great to see you post again old pal. I thought we'd lost you to the bullies again. I didn't know Pat had been bullied off here. Terrible news! The level of bullying on here is quite shocking at times, quite vicious and nasty! There's no need for it!

Anyway, I'm going to open the sherry later, the good stuff mind, to celebrate a well earned point today. Stay strong old pal.

Best, Derek

"What is the point in Southampton FC anymore?" Article
at 11:01 6 Sep 2018

My family have always supported the Saints apart from uncle bert who was in the navy and supported that lot down the road.

My son went to Palace last weekend and had a great time. He said its about as good as it'll ever get being a Saints fan, a 2-0 win away in the top tier. He was too young to see us lift the fa cup, but I doubt he will see us win anything in the next 40 years. Money has created too huge a gap, unless we get very lucky in another league cup final one day....

Coincidence?

Well said Brian. It was a bit shocking last week to see those two characters going on about passports and the site being hacked and so on. I don't why they carry on like that, making things up, asking Nick to ban people and generally being very disruptive. It wouldn't of happened in my day, although we didn't have the internet in the 50s.

Who is the most in-the-know on SFC’s transfer activity?
at 08:23 29 Jun 2018

Some of my fellow posters would do well to remember that Pat has had a long and distinguished career in football.....His family have deep roots within our beautiful game, so it's always going to be the case that Pat has trusted inside information.

Contacts I'm sure that span the generations with clubs both North and South of the border. We should have a bit more appreciation to being privy to the whisperings amongst the corridors of power in football.

Keep us in the loop Pat please, I know you can't share all the nitty gritty but most of us appreciate it all the same.

You have to hand it to Les, he really does leave no stone unturned. Spending most of the summer carrying out due diligence for potential new signings is the sign of a remarkable man. I don't know many employees of a company that would sacrifice their holiday time working. I wouldn't be supprised if he's not even being paid, that's the type of character Les is.

Will we hear anything before 4.30pm old pal? It's just that I've got to go into hospital for an overnight so it would be a real tonic to hear our Les has carried out full due diligence on Mr Hughes and he's signed up to our great club!

I'm sure Les will make sure all the i's are dotted and t's crossed properly beforehand!

Prowsey on 200 games for Saints

I've just watched the interview with our boy Prowsey...I must say I was welling up with pride listening to the lad. He's worn the famous red & white stripes with pride has our boy...

I hope the lad goes onto reach many other milestones with our great club and cement his place in history as a true club legend.

Well done James! Well deserved!

Alcohol abuse is a terrible thing! I watched my Uncle Cyril turn into a shell of a man. In the end he had the mental capacity of a peanut...such a shame to watch it happen on a public forum!

On a brighter note..Here's to 3 points today.

The Premier League Eye Up Saints' Vice Chairman
at 13:15 6 Apr 2018

It will be a sad day when Les finally leaves. I've supported Saints for over 70 years and I'm grateful to Les for presiding over our most successful period in our great clubs history. One day I hope the club recognise this great mans achievements and do the right thing by placing a bronze statue next to another Saints legend, our very own Ted.

Les has delivered once again old pal. I had every confidence that Les would steer the good ship Southampton FC through choppy waters. We now have two Leslie's to take us to the next level. I'm proud to be a Saints fan under such great stewardship as Leslie Reed.

Les Reed appreciation thread
at 18:31 12 Mar 2018

I've been lucky enough to meet the great man. What Les doesnt know about football isn't worth knowing. Les has prosided over our most successful period as a football club. He's earned his right to enter the history books with this great achievement alongside his name. I would put Les up there with our Ted in terms of achievement.

We're going through a sticky patch at the moment but I have faith in Mr Reed to steer the good ship Southampton FC through choppy waters and into clear calm.
