There are certain things that a Nation should be self sufficient in. I would put food production at the top of that list, alongside energy capacity. Yes, the import of certain luxury items should be available, but the basic calorific requirements of every UK citizen should be able to be met from domestic production, even if it means forcing welfare recipients out into the fields to pick it.

Electricity should be generated at a surplus via nuclear. We're years behind where we need to be thanks to idiotic planning and regulation requirements. Gas and oil should be pumped from the North Sea until the wells run dry, not ended for Ed Milliband's net zero mania.

Some would argue that steel production should come under this, but as we have no domestic sources of iron ore anyway it's going to be an import whether we like it or not.

Population growth via migration is only worthwhile if the incoming population contribute more than they take. There is serious doubt about whether that is the case.

To increase the native birthrate you need to make it cheaper and easier for people to find homes and start families. Setting aside social housing for UK citizens would be a start. Significant tax breaks/payments for children would be another good step.

Endlessly opening the borders isn't working at the moment.

The prime specimen on here has. They were all over Twitter when the starting lineup was announced.

Should Yalcouye have played instead? I'd argue that he should, but it looks like he might be recalled anyway given his lack of game time. I had no qualms over JF being part of the XI though.

A big part of the problem with him is that social media has led to polarisation of debate. Everything is either brilliant or shit for people too dim to see nuance. There's no room for inbetween. And if the thickie mob make a decision one way or another plenty of people will parrot the popular line in search of likes and retweets.

Fulton is, and probably always will be, an easy target for too many people.

For the most part he's never been less than capable when called upon, yet receives absurd disrespect as a result.

In fairness the forwards aren't just standing in the penalty area unopposed deciding when and where to run. Opposing defences have a say too.

Tymon can put a fabulous ball in, but if Vipi has a savvy defender standing in front of him blocking or shadowing his run he's not going to get to it every time. Wilfried Bony was perhaps the best "movement off the ball" forward I've seen play for us and he wasn't always able to get on the end of some quality delivery.

What I will say though is that we need to work on getting the ball in quicker and earlier than we do for the majority of the time, but that's bad habit which will take time to be coached out of players.

I wonder if, given the long term injury to Idah, whether a loan move for Piroe makes sense now. Not only to cover/provide competition for Vipi, but also because he's a more than capable #10 too, and we could use one of those.

I spent more time than most playing up Vipotnik's potential last season but even I didn't expect him to be more than halfway towards 20 goals by the turn of the year this time around. He's an unfairly ruled out goal at St. Andrews away from being the joint top scorer in the division. If he was upfront for say, Coventry, he'd be away and clear at the top IMO.

Stamenic has improved too. Still a little bit slow in possession at times and too fond of an unnecessary lunge, but making up for that in other areas.

One think on our favour there is that Vipi has, as far as I can remember, rarely played a full 90 this season. Usually he's been rotated out before the 70 minute mark.

I think, if the training schedule isn't too heavy (and it probably isn't with games coming this thick and fast), two games in four days shouldn't be beyond him.

I know people who have used it and lost a lot of weight, I know people who have used it and had the shits as a result.

I inject it in the smallest dose as a blood sugar control for type 2 diabetes (apparently the reason it was originally developed) rather than the higher levels required for weight loss and can't say I've noticed much of an effect one way or another.

You can't really, which is why the Govt has promised to pay £800m if anything happens to it whilst it's in our custody.

I suspect, and I may be wrong here, if we saw him as a serious long term option he wouldn't have spent his last year playing lower league football in the States.

Maybe we'll offer him another year and send him on loan somewhere a bit more competitive.

As I understand they're just insuring it for that amount as commercial coverage for an item like that would probably be impossible to obtain.

Swansea City : Matos at a crossroads with his team still searching
at 21:48 27 Dec 2025

I thought he did OK in spells yesterday, but Ronald just hasn't done enough in recent games, or indeed for most of the season to justify the automatic starting berth he has at the moment.

I find the criticism Franco is currently taking to be distasteful, but it seems obvious to me that Yalcouye has earned a start based on his recent appearances off the bench. My thoughts on Cullen are well known.

If players who do well off the bench aren't rewarded for that with starts in subsequent games then there's not much point in them doing well off the bench.

Matos needs to start picking teams based on form, not reputation. More than one player is starting games at the moment when they've no serious business doing so, even taking rotation into consideration.

This is a huge story on social media yet the only appearance of it on the BBC is a 19 hour old puff piece about him being a "pro Democracy" advocate.

Cullen isn't a natural goal scorer. He misses far more straightforward chances than he buries. What he does do is come up with the occasional important goal, when then somehow makes people forget how little he contributes otherwise.

Whether Cullen is settled in Swansea or not should have little bearing on whether the club keeps him. If we've got serious ambitions of exiting the division in an upwards direction it'll be a miracle if we're doing it with him as even a regular player off the bench, never mind starter.

Some people may think I'm being harsh on him and perhaps I am, but for me he's in the same file as Oli Cooper. Another player that people thought was worth keeping around because "he gives his all" and scored the odd goal.

There is a clear and legally recognised difference between tax avoidance and tax evasion.

Tax avoidance is using legal means and loopholes to reduce the amount of tax owed. People who buy duty free do this. A lot of online shopping used to be covered by a "de minimis" rule when it came to import duty, something being slowly phased out.

Tax evasion is dodging tax owed when there are no legal reasons or exemptions allowing for such. If you've ever paid a tradesman cash in hand, you've almost certainly been a party to it.

At the moment it's hard to imagine #10 being anything other than a real life version of that Simpson's scene of Sideshow Bob continually stepping on rakes.
