Hoopsa on Oxford point and Wrexham preview
at 20:27 21 Jan 2026

I think you’re right. Hayden, Field, Madsen with Smyth and Vale on the flanks. And Kone up front. Bring Edwards in for Cook.

There did seem to be a lot of pushes in the back of our players when they went up for headers and these were never given. The best chance came from us not being given a blatant free kick. I thought Kone was wrestled to the ground in the box too.

I’m not sure what the new thread posted today is? But I agree with you on “ignore”. Better to engage and debate rather than ignore.

Yes agree with what you say. Why I come here to read balanced posts like that. I am a bit of a nightmare after we get beat and need to be more balanced. I was tired last night and made me worse than felt I had to double down! But you’re right. But to answer your question I don’t think it’s Marti. I think it’s the money spent on the squad, which for me has made the squad significantly better than last season and also how we have gone from Birmingham and Leicester games to what we’ve witnessed at West Brom, vs Norwich, then Stoke and finally last night. The difference in performance is huge.

I have never faulted the effort of this squad. But I am allowed to question what I see on the pitch. I think you are being very generous to say that Oxford were fighting for their lives….they should be but if I was an Oxford fan I would’ve been fuming at effort and quality from most of their team. You can blame conditions for long balls from back that went wrong but not 5 yard passes on the ground that went into touch or miscontrolling it. Of course we should all be pretty happy with the league position but last night was bad…..as was Stoke. They had a week off after West Ham. Madsen has played almost every minute and he is performing from ok to good. I think we were good vs West Ham and superb against Leicester but the other games in between have not been good. I really don’t think 2 up front away from home is working.

On Bennie….he had 2 chances just like that and was flat footed. That’s instinct no? Or lack of.

Injuries
at 00:44 21 Jan 2026

Other than Burrell who would have obviously started and is a big miss, that starting eleven is more than good enough. RND doesn’t play 2 games straight so he was always going to be rested. But Mbengue, Dunne, Cook, Madsen, Kone, Smyth, Dembele, Hayden, Walsh…….you would find fans who would start these players even if everyone was fit. Injuries are not an excuse for tonights performance. And we can moan about fixture congestion but we didn’t make tactical subs until 75th minute!

I don’t know why because I like Hayden but we do look a better side with Varane in the team.

The first team we put out should be good enough. Most wanted Hayden over Varane as an example. Kolli was poor against Stoke but for the love of God, Bennie has absolutely no anticipation as a striker. Hes like Dykes but without the physicality. We have to play a centre back who can progress out of defence. We have a bloody good one on the bench but he’s apparently not “match fit”. 🤦‍♂️

Just back. Abysmal. Smyth did well and Esqerdinha didn’t look out of place. But that was a game in 2nd tier of England?? What sums us up was a good break and Kone has ball on right, looks up and Bennie is 2 yards offside waving to his mum in the crowd. What on earth are they doing in training? Edwards is not fit enough?? If he was blind and on one leg, he’d still be our best player. He hasn’t played a single minute since he was signed.

But you’re not raising a single point that anyone can discuss or debate. The summary of your “points” seem to be 1) we are rubbish 2) we are boring 3) the manager moans too much. Your solution is to 1) pass it to each other more and 2) score more goals. How on earth is that a debate or discussion? If anyone calls you out on this bizarre logic of yours we are idiots and we’re mugs for going to Oxford. You don’t mention a change of formation or certain players who should be playing or even we should get this manager because we’d be playing like Brazil before the week is out.

You only said something constructive when I asked you to. Saying be more progressive and pass it more and create more chances is fine but it’s not that simple. You call fans “mugs” for going to games, you say “pass to each other” as if it’s some footballing genius philosophy, yet I’m the “idiot”. Does it require a change of formation or players or even manager?? Or are you seriously suggesting that the manager and players deliberately decided not to pass each other.

You really are the master of staying the bleeding obvious. It’s obviously that simple and everyone else is just stupid. How do we do that? Change formation? Change players? Manager???

We went with a significantly depleted squad. We lack a progressive ball playing centre half. Hopefully Edwards will change that. That for me will make a big difference. Also I’d say Thomas and Jun Ho are significantly better players than we have available currently. We are struggling away currently, we had to try and reverse that. Finding a solution to these things takes time and especially when we have so many injuries. We’re 11th.

Do you “sift through 23 pages” of an opposition message board when we win? Post Leicester or Hull for example? Also, we have a lot more than 2 players out. But on football front, personally I think we are a completely different side with a ball playing centre half. Cook and Dunne defended brilliantly. But we need an Edwards or a JCS alongside Dunne to help us progress up the field better….especially with 2 man central midfield.

Rather than constantly slagging off team and manager after a poor result or performance, would love to know how you think we/JS should be doing things differently to improve our current league position.

Sell Jon Varane ?
at 15:52 14 Jan 2026

He wasn’t race baiting at all. I didn’t even register the “race” of the names mentioned. It was well-know / big-name brother. Think you are very unfair to keep digging him out on that.

That said, I do disagree with the point that he gets abuse due to his name.

He does get relatively (to other qpr players) too much abuse on here. But simple reason is that he is undroppable seemingly by JS, when we have decent replacements. That irritates a lot on here I think. A qpr comparison would be the grief that Steve Palmer used to get for being played central midfield at the start of our promotion season. Palmer wasn’t bad. Neither is Varane.

He was excellent and as said, looks like he could cut it at Prem level. I still think Kone gets too much stick. There’s lots to like about this squad and manager.

Mbengue was definitely cramp. Did excellent again against a good winger. Same think for Dembele. Saito looked like a hamstring.

Very proud of the side there. Stephan set us up well. Summerville was the difference. That’s what I want to see from a qpr side. Win, lose or draw. And to be fair to them, I was running out of steam come extra time!

I think everyone seems to be in the “sell” camp at 5-6m. The difference seems to be where people think he’s any good or not.
