When we played that game I thought we'd get annihilated.
We lost 6-1 at Chelsea a few weeks before and our away games had been poor all season.

City dominated our game even more than Chelsea did but a combination of nervousness from City and fantastic defending from us kept it tight. Really, City should have won it by half time and we'd have never had the amazing 2nd half that we did and Sky would never have had their w@nkfest.

We never get the credit we deserve for making that game what it was.

It's like everything in life.... what starts off as the norm has to then be 'improved' upon in order to stand out, then that also becomes the norm so something else (usually more elaborate) then happens, then that too becomes the norm so something else is thought of that is even more elaborate and the upwards (or maybe downwards) cycle continues until it become utterly ridiculous.

"Emma Hayes will one day manage in men’s football — so why not now? ''

She might manage in men’s football but at what level?
As said, shes managed a team with virtually no limitations. How would she fare managing Bristol City’s women’s team?.

If Luton have gone about it right they'll have spent as little as possible.... upgrade to Kenilworth Road for the PL season and a few players to at least try and compete but without splashing the cash like we did.

This way, their new stadium should be pretty much paid off, or if not a good chunk of it, and it will give them stability for the foreseeable.

I can't see them being a threat until maybe they move to their new ground and the increased income (if the crowds go up to 80%+ capacity so you're looking 18k gates) as well as better facilities for the players (little darlings) will help with maybe becoming a middle-upper Championship team at worst.

Tottenham v Newcastle friendly
at 09:40 17 May 2024

No way would the organisers at the other end agree to a sub standard squad. All hell would break loose if fans weren't seeing pretty much the whole first PL XI.
Look what happened in China when Messi didn't play.

Those manager's should resign then if they don't like what the owners are doing.

Oh, wait......

Picked up a new”retro” 85/86 shirt yesterday

The best of the two and the best of the lot. Rightly won 'best ever shirt' award (so yes, a poll has already been done!).

The other one has too much red IMO, this one has subtle cues of red from the signature on the Guinness bottle label.

What is the point of Neil Warnock
at 09:20 11 May 2024

My grandad kept himself busy when he retired. Edited the village magazine, helped with the library, did odd jobs for the elderly neighbours, looked after his garden regularly etc etc

He seemed more busy when he retired than when he did his job!

He eventually departed this mortal coil at 96.

Definitely something in it I think.

Shades of World Cup 1970 when England were 2-0 up v Germany in the 1/4 final and Ramsey took off Bobby Charlton 2 mins after they pulled one back then took off Peters (another forward thinking player) and Germany scored their equaliser a minute later! We lost 3-2 (aet).

When will managers understand 'attack is the best form of defence'? By doing what they did they just invite pressure that probably wasn't there beforehand.

Same here. LFW and Facebook (which is really just endless boring pics of my kids as I have friends & family all over the place - I use it as an online scrapbook really) is all I do.
Cannot be @rsed with X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, tiktok, onlyfans (oh, whooops!) and so on.

I don't get this social media fixation with him, it's getting really weird and like everyone is bullying in a kind of 'safety in numbers' way.

The guy has had a phenomenal season, banging in goals that we could only dream of and breaking records left, right and centre. He's not a midfielder, defender or goalkeeper and he's not responsible for players in those positions and not responsible for Bayern losing games.

This probably doesn't come as a surprise to anyone but one thing I've ascertained over the years during the rise of social media is how fkin' weird people are.

Championship Playoffs - who's going up?
at 18:04 8 May 2024

They're all in a bad run of form (especially Leeds... W1 D1 L4.... snigger) so I went for Norwich. But it's the Play-off's so gawd knows.

I remember a few years ago Leeds won the semi final first leg at Derby 1-0 and it was generally considered Leeds would go through. Derby done them 4-2 at Elland Road. Then Derby lost the final (again, snigger) to Villa.

Used to enjoy it years ago when it was a bit of fun. Me and Mrs Juzzie would watch it (she loved it, way more than me, but no more) from beginning to end and it was great.

Now you have countries that aren't in Europe then you had the whole "vote for our neighbours", then it started becoming political and virtue signalling and so on. Just want to have a break form all that, there's enough of it as it is.

I have no problem with anyone who enjoys it, fair play to that and have a good time. Just not for me anymore.

Football is no longer a sport, an entertainment. It's a 'results business'. They spent a lot of money and I'd imagine the target was top 6.

No top 6..... bye-bye Manager.

I thinks it's harsh but that's how it is these days.
