Bring Them On For England
at 18:45:38

Many more will follow (Shaw, Ward-Prowse & co.) - England's future is in safe hands as long as Saints' Academy is called upon.

Saints At Stoke City The Verdict
at 15:05:37

Sounds like it was a credible point as Stoke proves a difficult place to go for many teams.

It's great to see Lallana completing matches as he has done for the last four games now. I'm pleased Rodriguez is taking his chance - Osvaldo will have some work to do to get back in the side upon his return from injury.

Most importantly it's great to be a Saints supporter: the highlight of the match, for me, was Boruc's subsequent apology/promise, showing he is a class act.

Why Are The French Ignoring Morgan Schneiderlin
at 20:39:04

truthfulsaint - I think I have touched a nerve. It takes a moron to know one but then again I wouldn't judge you as I don't know you. Let's leave this kind of argument to the Daily Echo forum, shall we?
I think you fail to see this could be a sign of things to come!

Why Are The French Ignoring Morgan Schneiderlin

Forgot to add - one of Jay Rodriguez's parents is Spanish - how would people feel about Spain coming along and poaching him?

Why Are The French Ignoring Morgan Schneiderlin
at 15:00:24

He is better and less injury-prone than Jack Wilshere, who should think before he speaks. France are missing out on Morgan. Many players born outside England have played for the England national team.
There are many players now that are able to choose which country they want to represent - our very own Matt le Tissier had that choice and chose England. Our very own Dani Osvaldo is actually Argentinian by birth but plays for Italy.
I can't think why in the world Morgan would want to play for England, and I hope he gets the France call-up he deserves - but would certainly welcome him into the England side!
This is all Januzaj's fault for starting this debate about naturalised footballers. Two goals away to Sunderland - so what?

Go Fourth And Multiply
at 15:23:29

If at the beginning of the season we had been told we would be fourth after seven games, we all would have taken it. So far, we have exceeded most of our, and all pundits', expectations but it would of course be a fairer judgement to wait until we have played more sides in the top half to give us a bigger picture. Although we are fourth and confident of competing, we will go up to Old Trafford with a feeling that we have nothing to lose. It is a game we should certainly enjoy and try to win. The comparisons to this time last season are huge, and the international break has come at a good time: it is not just about having an extended period of time to enjoy our league position, but it is also a psychological positive on other teams (who have not had such a good run of results and are itching to put thing right but have to wait two weeks).
We won't play out of our skin every week, but no team does. Like previous posters say here, things even themselves out and what goes around, comes around.
Saints are moving with the times and onto bigger and better things.

Nigel Adkins A Thank You From The Fans
at 19:37:34

What a legend Nigel is!

It's funny just the other day we were debating Rickie Lambert being a Saints legend and someone posted on here that you are not a legend until you are gone (Le Tissier, Channon, Shilton, etc.).

Hats off to Nigel, he is now surely a Saints legend? Thoughts?

I find it sad that Nigel supposedly knew nothing about this.

But now we turn the page and must be right behind the club.

Nigel Adkins A Thank You From The Fans
at 15:16:06

Feeling heartbroken right now! Can't believe this as Nigel has served us so well and at least deserved a crack at a full season in the Premier League. He would have kept us up. With Mauricio Pochettino we will have to see.

What we do not want to see now are the scenes at Chelsea from the past two months. It's a similar situation but we cannot let it escalate; on Monday there must be no booing or we will look like another Chelsea! Pochettino must have our full support from day one and be given a chance.

Nigel, thank you so much for the memories. Now that you have left, you are a Saints Legend in our eyes. Your next club will be very lucky to have you, just like we have been!

Saints forever!!!

Saints V Liverpool The Verdict
at 15:13:19

I like your take on the game Nick, especially the last three paragraphs. Rodriguez should have been given a lot more time at the end, and bringing on Mayuka may have nicked us something. We had nothing to lose.
However, Liverpool away is a hard game certainly was not must-win. Reading next Saturday is looking like a must-win game. In fact, from the next two home games we should expect 6 points.
I saw the game live over here in Mexico and lost count of the number of times Ramírez lost the ball and was surprised when I saw him actually complete a pass.
I think our starting eleven is good but Nigel Adkins is still not making the right substitutions when we are in losing positions with 10-20 minutes left on the clock.
As Adkins says though, blue line, and on to the Reading game now.

Saints V Liverpool The Preview
at 15:13:56

Most teams in our position would set out to frustrate the home side tomorrow but NA may just go for it. Substitutions are key.
100% effort from the eleven Saints players, and from the 12th man in the away section at Anfield, and we will be fine!

Saints V Norwich The Verdict
at 15:53:10

It is clear that some of the basic errors have not been completely ironed out but our form over the last four games has shown a marked improvement from the previous four games. Nick, I agree that the changes came too late and also that the victories against QPR and Newcastle were against out-of-form teams. Norwich are in form but it is teams like them we should be beating, at home, to get safely into mid-table.

The other day someone said the Liverpool game could be like a 'free throw' game. I think this is still the case. We can frustrate them and their fans on their own patch but I think Nigel may now make some changes - get Jay Rodriguez or Mayuka more involved.

I haven't posted much before on here but have always enjoyed reading the articles and comments. Much better than the Daily Echo site where only a small fraction of the posts on there are well-informed opinions. Well done.

Same Place ! Same Side !
at 19:04:52

I wouldn't change a thing from the side that played on Sunday. We can make good like-for-like substitutions when needed (i.e. JR for Rickie) but we needn't fix anything that isn't broken. As previous comments have said, these guys are athletes and can cope with playing games a few days apart. For Liverpool I would possible change it around a little. We are playing Norwich first though, so that is more important!

When The Going Gets Tough Saints Fans Need To Get Going To St Mary's
at 17:50:20

Well said Nick. We are indeed a special, family club and it fills me with pride to be a part of it, albeit from overseas. I would not have it any other way and over and over again I would support Saints rather than being a fan of an easy team to support (no names of teams need be mentioned!). We should be thankful we are not like other clubs and fans. I am so glad we have Nigel Adkins and I know that he has a lot more to give - we should really stick with him. As you said, the fans are there forever and must play their part, whether it means going to the match, or simply root for the lads while listening to the radio, online, etc.. I am confident we will come good!
