First look at today's 4-3 win
at 18:01 2 Mar 2024

On a strange and somewhat encouraging afternoon of Championship results here is a first look at the goals - RM almost always says he's proud of the players, I'd venture to suggest that today he's every right to be for never giving up.

Young Saint - Alejandro Gomes Rodriguez
at 00:43 16 Nov 2023

I know they don't always make the step up to 1st team football easily, or ideed at all, but this one sounds promising - in a couple of years time perhaps he could be the next Evan Ferguson who has slotted in so well at Brighton...

Elyounoussi goal helps beat Man Utd
at 00:30 9 Nov 2023

In the Champions League tonight Mohamed Elyounoussi scored in the 45th minute for FC Copenhagen to haul back a 0-2 deficit to 1-2. 2-2 by HT, United go 3-2 up but FC C score twice in the last 10 mins to win 4-3. Rashford sent off in the 1st half - Ten Hag won’t like that! He’s already got the a**eache with The Rash over his highly publicised birthday party on the night of their home defeat by Citeh - perhaps Ten Hag will cast Rashford into the wilderness along with Sancho. Wrong side of Manchester, but perhaps we should send JW up there in January to agree loan deals for the pair of them to bolster our push for promotion in the second half of the season

Top 3 Non-League wins in the FA Cuo
at 23:11 7 Nov 2023

As Nick says it is a bit quiet on here at the moment and as Pat has said his Top 3 ideas have dried up for the moment I thought it would be nice to celebrate the SK8's latest failure to get past non-League oppo in the FA Cup by inviting your submissions for your top 3 non-League FA Cup wins

1 - Worcester City 2-1 Liverpool - Jan 1959, widely accepted as probably their most embarrassing defeat.
2 - Burnley 0-1 Lincoln City - Feb 2017, Lincoln were in the National League at the time and became the first non-league team to reach the FAC Quarter Finals in 105 years.
3 - Sutton United 2-1 Coventry City - Jan 1989, in May 1987 Coventry were running round Wembley with the FA Cup having just beaten Spurs, however, just over 18 months later...

And of course, any SK8's defeat by non-league opposition

30 Years ago today - Le God 2-1 Newcastle Utd
at 20:04 24 Oct 2023

30 years ago today, Matt produced a brace of absolutely superb goals against Newcastle United having been dropped for the previous 5 games by the plank that was Ian Branfoot. Witnessed this from by West Stand Lower seat, can't remember if it was still bench seating or not. Great memories of a very special player.

Saints fans arrested season 22/23
at 19:16 1 Oct 2023

The Home Office have released the stats for the total number of fans arrested during the 22/23 season listed by Club. There were a total of 2,264 arrests in the top 5 divisions of which 39 were Saints fans. Worst behaved of the lot were West Ham with 89 of their delightful East London darlings falling foul of the boys in blue.

Here is the complete list courtesy of the Stoke Sentinel newspaper, the link to their original article is as follows:

Here is the complete list - if it was worked out as a percentage of the average attendance I guess Leeds or Millwall would be top! On the one hand, no surprises there, on the other, not all arrests will have been at home games...

Thanks Everton
at 01:00 2 Sep 2023

First of all, I would just like to thank Everton for not having the dosh to get the deals for Che and Sulemana over the line. Faffing around for weeks in Che's case and the last few days in Sulemana's has quite possibly kept one if not both at SFC.
Moving on to other things:
Secondly, because of the Norwich defender who clattered Will Smallbone, it has quite possibly kept Sheff United at bay as well although he may well have signed the new contract anyway I suppose.
Thirdly, great to see the window slam shut without KWP leaving the building in addition to the three mentioned above.
Some real quality loan signings in as well, Taylor Harwood-Bellis in means we haven't paid the over inflated price for Wood to still bitter Swansea, I think THB is the better player TBH.
And finally, good to see SR playing hardball over Lavia in particular and also JWP & Tino to a certain extent as well as Tella. We have not caved in as we have done in the past (with the exception of VVD) so we have some decent money in even if we are off of Liverpool's Christmas card list!
Only real surprise is that Tall Paul didn't get away at least on loan.
Overall this is the most positive I have felt in a while. I have been a critic of SR over their past performance but I have to say this is a marked improvement, let's just hope RM can keep the wins coming with the quality he has at his disposal.

Lyanco off to Qatar
at 20:06 27 Aug 2023

Celtic fan site 67hailhail.com reporting this:
Celtic won’t be signing Southampton defender Lyanco this summer after Qatari club Al Gharafa announced he has landed in Doha to sign for them.

As an aside, I’d love to see the Pub Landlord put a team into the Saudi Pro League - obviously named Al Mur-Ray
