Bednarek
at 09:21 20 Dec 2020

Can't believe Bednerak is being slated here, sure he passes it back to McCarthy and can slow down the play. But I'd rather see him do that then "try something" and lose possession and the us concede off the back of it. And personally I think his distribution has come on miles this season, there were times he tried to clip it over the top.
Djenepo is better than Redmond, imo. He created a couple of chances where he cutt n and played it over to Walcott. Who had space in the penalty area. Redmond had a poor game yesterday, very wasteful in possession.
I think you've massively underestimated Cities quality here. If we play like this against any other team we'll probably win, but City have some of the best players in the world.

Just a bad day at the office

I agree we missed Ings. Not just from a goalscoring perspective but he really leads the team when we press, it felt like the team pressed at the wrong times yesterday and we never really settled into a rhythm. I don't how much of this is down to United playing a diamond, maybe that massively through our gameplan out the window?

As for Redmond, I was saying yesterday if Redmond played like Djenepo did he'd play so much better. Djenepo's biggest strength is probably how good he is at finding space off the ball than in return that drags players out of position. Something Redmond rarely does. I really do feel that Djenepo does not have the same chemistry with Ryan Bertrand that Redmond does. It's probably our biggest thread is that Bertrand is always looking to overlap with Redmond on the pitch. The past two games, there's been a reluctancy to do so.

Will we spend in January
at 14:47 30 Nov 2020

With the new B team system the club has implemented I don't think we'll sign anyone. I thought the idea behind that was to so that should a youth player need to step up they would have the ability and understanding to slot into the first team. I struggle to see how we're going to entice any player of real quality to come in and sit on our bench and be a rotation player.

If we do sign anyone it'll be an under 21-year old that most of us have probably never heard of. Maybe if we suffer a substantial injury to one of our main players than we might look at loaning a more experienced player to finish off the season.

Ralph and his reluctance to utilise subs
at 14:41 30 Nov 2020

We talk about the lack of quality on our bench. However, Ralph constantly talks about playing as a team with his pressing style will win us games, and it does. If his high press system has been ingrained into the players as he suggests then surely he should have no problem bringing on fresh legs as long as they're playing their preferred position as they will slot in. I thought that was why we now have a B team and not under 23's as everyone plays a role in his system so if we do have injuries new young players should be able to seamlessly slot in and we saw that to some extend last season with Smallbone featuring in a couple of games.

My opinion is he sees a player starting to flag, you have the option to replace them with someone in the same position. An example yesterday, we saw Romeu start to flag, we signed Diallo as a cover for our DM's why not bring him on.

Equally, from Ralph's perspective, the risk of using all 3 substitutes too early is then if we suffer an injury than we run the risk of only finishing the game with 10 men.
