The 3 sides of a match thread at Oxford
at 14:12 20 Jan 2026

Another game to far for me. I made my pilgrimage to Stoke on Saturday and really can't nowadays do 2 aways games in 3 days...so will be tucked up at home watching from afar

I'm guessing the lesser spotted Piku is still out, and I believe that JCS as been appointed hologram status so he also will be missing. I believe Chair is being held hostage somewhere, and Harvey Vale is in a Galaxy far far away

So JS will have a bit of a problem I feel... can he change anything? Dunne, Cook, Madsen and Kone are in danger of being flogged to death here... but apart from Handsome Ronnie, who won't start I believe... who is he going to throw in ?

I'm most likely be in a minority here, but I will be more than satisfied with another dour 0-0 here... with the eternal hope that we can nick one

Is the season over?
at 20:48 19 Jan 2026

Logically I guess you would say that we are pretty much stagnant this season, though there are still a few games left to play

Personally and I think the club professionally will keep aiming to finish as high as they can... and that means think they will put out as strong a team as they can... injuries allowing.

I can't see too many left field selections, for me I would like Sutton to get a bit more game time especially with the injuries to the wide players we have

I like to also see Bennie rotate with Kone and Koli .. in fact I think if not careful we are going to burn Kone out, and we may even give the new lad a game or two

I also think we have to closely look at Madsen, he also has had a long season already, it is just unfortunate that there really is no like for like replacement.... in this respect I feel JS needs to change the system to allow Madsen a rest

And that my friend sums it up for me

Was there yesterday and myself and most of those around me felt exactly the same... went there with a Stoke team that had won 3 on the trot and not conceded a goal at home, and we came away with a point, no more injuries and a professional job well done.

Though that starting 11 was decent there was absolutely nothing on the bench attacking wise apart from young Bennie

So ask me, and, most of the travelling bunch, if we would have preferred us throw caution to the win and loose which would have been the percentage result, or go there organised, with a plan and come away with a draw..

I guess the loss and a pat on the back saying ... well done chaps for playing the game the sporting way is now preferred

Am I upset we never took a chance, who knows we may have won the game if we were more attacking, throwing caution to the wind.... but the manager decided that this was a better way to play to get a realistic result... and I'm fully behind him.

I said it last night... well down Rs... that was a decent point and we move on

Well I have no problem with that...........you cut your coat to suit your cloth.... a weak bench......a 3 game week........

I think they done exactly what Js wanted, and yes not pretty but we were well organised, well coached and we move on

I've clapped them off here as they walk down the tunnel..........well done Rs a professional performance.

And Cooky MOTM match 120 mins against Spam and now 100 0dd minutes here and was superb.......

Well.................as the guy that fell off the empire state building was heard saying on the way down "so far so good, so far so good" .......... and that is definitely as

Can understand JS tactics, when you see our bench........not sure if any on that bench will come on a rescue the game so looks like he as set up with 2 banks of 4 and basically said come and get us

We could really take both Kone and Koli off........and got 4-6-0 as I'm pretty sure we have no intention of attacking them

Sitting here and our tactics are really having an effect on the locals, it is really sh!thousery at it's best......and the only real positive for us is........we managed to achieve the 0-0 and not concede in the 48th minute, just need to now not concede in the first 5 second half

Think more of the same really 2nd half, JS will have to bring on fresh legs and just hope that it is still 0-0 and that they can see out the last 20 odd minutes.........

so 2nd half................

Playing 11 a side football
at 20:39 15 Jan 2026

My best friend lost his granddaughter and him and his son in law went to a wonderful organisation for support. Mothers get alot of support when losing a child, and rightly so, but fathers and grandfather's not so much.

https://www.sands.org.uk/sands

So one night 4 years ago I went to a charity game, and Sands Thanet were 2 guys short... so I was asked if I could do a 20 minute stint.

Bear in mind I was 67 then, and not played football for over 20 years, but i run everyday so said yes, after all it was basically a kick about

I played a decent standard in my days both Whitstable and Ramsgate, but I was absolutely shot after 10 mins.. in fact I went to head a ball... it hit me and I fell flat on my @rse to much amusement.... never again

threadbare squad
at 11:43 12 Jan 2026

I've banged on about this... but the days of playing back to back games is over. Back in yhe day players would have a few pints, a fag or two and then turn out on mud patches and play a game... sort of

Now it is to high density for back to back games... those 4 games in 10 days is ludicrous... OK some players seem to manage it... Madsen for example... but for the majority it is causing these muscle injuries...

It really does have to stop

For the thread agree with most, stick with the DS squad. We have to see if these lads are up to it

Fourth Round Here We Come Match Thread

Always hate us losing but today there is absolutely no issues with that. We had a cobbled together team...and really not a lot on the bench to change things and, and the Saito injury added to that

In the end we had a midfielder at LB and a young lad at RB.....and Morgan playing up front. And we have not let ourselves down

The only difference between the teams was Summerville and Bowen, and out of the 2 teams, if I was a Spam supporter I would be more worried than us.

Some positives, the defence and both CHs were magnificent, there is life in Cooky no doubt about that. JD was my MOTM match for us, a great leader

I'm not a great fan of Walsh, but thought he had a good game today, and dealt quite well with those corners.

Koli had a decent game, and so to for me did Hayden, certainly not worse than Varane. Smyth was his usual busy self and Adamson didn't embarrass himself.

Well the best thing for me was we actually gave it a go.
