 | News Comment | Not all the victors will be victorious – Report at 21:38:42
The second half comeback was up there with some of the best we’ve ever seen at Loftus Road. The atmosphere created was just incredible. This will be long remembered, as with 2 goals down and only 10 men on the pitch, what were the odds of still getting something from the game. It definitely felt like a win when the final whistle went. The red card has divided everyone’s opinion, but my instinctive reaction to seeing it live was that it was not worthy of a sending off, and having now seen it back several times I still think the same. It wasn’t the only mistake the inexperienced ref made as Clive’s report alludes to. Particular shout outs to Poku, Smyth, Scarlett and Adamson. Jimmy Dunne - I forgive you. |
 | News Comment | Ten Mill Will kills QPR's unbeaten start - Report at 20:10:54
I thought the game was somewhat lost when Chair went off and was replaced by Saito. Whilst I admire Koki’s enthusiasm and hard work, he is unfortunately literally lightweight, and personally didn’t think he was the best option of substitute to be made. I would have preferred it to be Alfie Lloyd, who ironically would have been the ideal replacement for Kone when he went off. Overall though we still show great promise as a team, particularly with the much improved second half. Hopefully we can get a better result against Charlton. |
 | News Comment | Burrell's deadly double downs Welsh dragon - Report at 11:06:38
As a fan base our expectations are currently much higher than they have been for many a year. The squad we have seems to have a lot of depth, but fitness will be more crucial than ever. Therefore it was no surprise with Julian’s 4 subs at once. Rotation will be the key this season, and players with any injury history will need to be managed extremely carefully- that’s pretty much everyone in the squad then. The other area that needs serious attention is finishing. It would be nice to see out a game without hanging on by the skin of our teeth. I can do without all that nervousness and anxiety. Get this right and nothing will stop us. I’m loving our new signings particularly Lamptey and Kamara. Quality is the word. Burrell seems to be back to his best, and Lloyd is being an annoying nuisance to the opposition. Edwards is commanding whether in defence or midfield. Everyone appears to be giving their all to the team, and with some style. The quality of our passing and moving and general work rate has been impressive. It’s looking rather good lads!! |
 | News Comment | A concert six months from now – Report at 14:49:35
With all the possession and shots it was immensely frustrating that we couldn’t score a goal. I’m not convinced that Kone will be good enough as our main striker. His lack of pace and wayward finishing show that he’s not going to be a prolific scorer for us. Of course I hope I’m wrong, but at the moment it would be in the clubs interest to perhaps loan in, if possible, a proven goalscorer. This is on the basis that Kolli is probably off, and Obikwu (will we ever see him) is an unknown quantity. Lloyd will perhaps go out on loan, which leaves just Burrell who I do rate. Pretty much every season we are left with the question- where are the goals going to come from? However, there were a lot of aspects of this game which were very good. I’ve been wanting for sometime for Edwards to be give a central defensive midfield role. He didn’t disappoint as he was impressive when going forward. Adamson looks a completely new player this season particularly on the left, but lots of competition in that role with Kemper when fit, and now Cirkin. Generally the balance of the team now looks much better than last season, and if we can remain relatively injury free, then perhaps we could make some decent progress this season. |
 | News Comment | QPR pay a heavy penalty against Millwall as cup woes continue – Report at 20:29:33
We certainly didn’t deserve to lose the match. The mistake by Charles was of epic proportions. So much so, for a moment, I thought it was Walsh or Nardi still in goal. But generally his distribution seems infinitely better than the former two. The problem against Millwall like so many of our games last season, was that we had no cutting edge up front. Kone and Burrell are going to have to step up their game. Although they both did well for us last season given the amount of game time, I’m not convinced that either are going to end up as prolific goal-scorers this season. Given the doubts we have over our other strikers, if we get the opportunity to bring someone in before the transfer deadline with a proven goal scoring track record, then we should take it. Obviously that’s not going to be easy though given the financial restraints we have. The penalties. It’s fair to see that our most likely penalty takers had already been substituted, but those 4 misses were just unacceptable. Don’t they practice in training. Very amateurish. |
 | News Comment | Anatomy of a season – Report at 13:12:03
It’s ironic that we played some of our best football in a long time, but still ended up losing. The subs this time were made very early, but using them all before 80 minutes effectively lost us the game when Burrell went off, and we went down to 10 men. It allowed Derby to gain a stronghold and momentum. Their winner was gutting. We’ve relied too much this season with young players only just breaking into the team, some of whom arguably won’t make it at Championship level. Experience in the team is vital, and JS has indicated we will need this for next season. But experience costs and you have to wonder where the money is going to come from, whilst still being able keep to keep within the rules of how much we can lose as a club each season. Although considering there were a few players signed this season from League 1 who were gaining Championship experience for the first time. Kone, Burrell, and Mbengue being the best examples bodes well for next season. That’s assuming we can hold onto them. Overall we potentially have a good nucleus of a team, for a decent season in 2026/27. I’m actually quite optimistic that we could do well, but will depend on getting our fitness very much improved, (move on Ben Williams), and signing the right players at the same time, whilst hopefully retaining our best. |
 | News Comment | A genre classic - Report at 12:56:05
All it needed was a moment of magic or exquisite skill to get the ball in the net, but there could have been another 90+ minutes, and there still wouldn’t have been a goal. Two average teams cancelling one another out with barely any goalmouth action. Some would say they’ve had more fun watching repeat episodes of Coronation Street. We definitely need to move the ball much more quickly, and make decisions more decisively. If we have to sit through another one of these bore draws, then it’s just as well there’s only 4 games left until the end of the season. Although, I do think that with a week off after a very busy schedule, our visit to Millwall should see us produce a better performance, even if we might end up losing. |
 | News Comment | Three on the spin for resurgent Rangers – Report at 10:30:23
I thought that Paul Smyth’s performance was phenomenal. It reminded me a bit of Chair at his best. The low centre of gravity in protecting the ball whist gliding past players was a joy to watch. Also not forgetting his tracking back, and defensive work as well. I’ve often been disappointed this season when Smyth has not been selected, as although not perfect, you do know that he will always give 110%. Great performances also from Edwards and Vale, but overall as a team this was a great showing, with much to admire. In fact, it was better than the Portsmouth match. I hope we can keep up this momentum, and finish the season as high as possible. Preston here we come! |
 | News Comment | Portsmouth hit for six in QPR’s bizarre numberwang – Report at 21:52:46
An emphatic win and a most enjoyable one, but yet if you looked at the stats and didn’t know the score you would have assumed that Portsmouth were the better team. Such is the fact that football is a funny old game. It was great to see Smyth, Kolli and Kone all bag 2 goals each. A message to Walsh bring your cap next time mate. Looking at the table we’ve shipped 61 goals this season which is more than every team, other than Sheffield Wednesday. By contrast with the shellacking of Pompey our 55 goals scored is now the 8th best in the league. It’s quite obvious that our defence has been our downfall this season. This needs to be improved next season, and we need the right recruitment if we are going to be in any way competitive. Anyway, Watford up next and can we make it 3 wins in a row? If we can show the same prowess in front of goal again, then we should have a very good chance. |
 | News Comment | QPR thrashed, Boro run riot, night follows day, bear seen heading for wood – Report at 11:55:59
The club and its hierarchy needs to take a long hard look at itself after the Middlesbrough debacle. This is definitely not a way to run a football club. You need to have people in charge that have real relevant experience. Not a young whipper snapper with his so called fitness expert cycling chum. Honestly, what has one sport where you sit on your arse got to do with another where you run and move on the grass. As for the manager it may be true to an extent that his hands are tied in certain matters, but a lot of what he did on Sunday was illogical. I’ve been wanting for weeks for him to play Edwards in Central Defensive Midfield particularly since Madsen got injured. There were signs in the match whenever Edwards was able to run forward with the ball that he is arguably better in that role anyway, compared to back line defence. He played that role many times last season to great acclaim. I’ve no idea what the substitutes were all about. Too late, and wrong players brought on after we went 2 down. 11 goals conceded in 3 matches and none scored. That’s relegation form obviously. Something needs to be sorted, and urgently! |
 | News Comment | Sunrise, sunset – Report at 12:04:47
If I was QPR Manager and I picked Varane (although I wouldn’t unless I had to to), I’d be saying to him - pass the ball backwards and you get fined a weeks wages. Just think of all the money he’d owe us. This typifies the negative attitude of the team as a whole. We just don’t fight to get the ball. We don’t run to support players who have the ball. There were many examples against Sheffield Utd where we had possession, but were forced into a blind alley because of a lack of options to enable a pass. I can’t understand with our decimated midfield why JS doesn’t put Ronnie Edwards in central defensive midfield. I personally would have gone with 3 at the back, and a midfield trio of Hayden, Edwards and Morgan. Add in 2 wing backs - Mbengue and Esqerdinha (but of course only as RND not available), and at least we might have had a chance of dominating the midfield and getting the ball forward decisively more often. Onto Middlesbrough then with 7 goals conceded in 2 matches with none scored. Things can be unpredictable in life, but not as a QPR supporter, as unfortunately you always know what’s just around the corner. |
 | News Comment | QPR hand O’Neill perfect start as Blackburn boss – Report at 22:03:19
That was a defensive nightmare. For a start I think that JS got the team selection wrong. It’s obvious to all of us that Mbengue should have been in at right back, and Ronnie Edwards paired with Madsen in central defensive midfield. Also, it’s clearly obvious that Bennie is not a winger. I think that Saito’s weakness is that he is weak, and is too easily shunted off the ball. From a recruitment aspect it would be good if we could field a team of 11 big bastards rather than having to include a number shrimps that we have. It’ll be interesting to see if we can put this behind us and make a fist of it at Hull on Saturday. I don’t like to be negative, but I can’t see anything other than sadly another defeat, particularly with the lack of options we have with all the injuries. |
 | News Comment | The antidote – Report at 15:21:25
That was a long old 7 minutes of added time, so quite a relief when the whistle went. A great win! Overall it was a game of good quality, with great performances by many of the team. With Madsen it has been an amazing transformation from when he first signed. He was very poor in so many of his early matches, almost seeming to put in no effort on the pitch. But now he simply dominates the game. He is by far our best passer of the ball, and uses it intelligently. He’s great at winning the ball, and as we saw on Saturday can also score good goals. Kone and Vale were also very impressive against Coventry, but I gave my player of the match to Madsen seeing that he got the winner and the assist for the first. Hope we can keep the momentum going for Charlton on Friday. |
 | News Comment | Four minutes of madness – Report at 21:31:04
How to change victory into the jaws of defeat in 4 minutes - only QPR could do this! Maybe Disney will make a documentary series on us which would be the opposite of Wrexham’s meteoric rise, and focus on how as a club we continuously let ourselves down. There would also be many stories focusing on fans left with post match traumatic stress disorder, and how it affects their Saturday lives. Supporting QPR has a debilitating effect on health. It’s the hope that kills you. I predict top ratings for the show. Oh well, on to Coventry next weekend, and we’ll be looking for revenge for the 7-1 defeat at theirs. What could possibly go wrong? |
 | News Comment | The rules of Road Runner – Report at 12:53:34
One we equalised I foolishly started day dreaming about who we might draw in the 4th Round, but of course it was never going to happen given our FA Cup history. Nevertheless I thought we did as well as we could have done, given our injury situation. Our bench really did look light. With a stronger line up West Ham were there for the taking. Overall I think the boys should be proud of their performance. The 2 superb saves from Walsh were as good as you will see anywhere. Kolli looked as if he will be a real handful, and hopefully will be able to get fully fit with more game time. Fantastic support from us 9,000, or was it really 15,000 as has been suggested. As for the London Stadium- no thanks. Give me Loftus Road any day. In comparison we are blessed to have our compact, old fashioned but amazing ground. I was far up the upper tier, and should really have brought binoculars with. So it was difficult at times to see exactly what was going on. At home you are so close to the action that you can almost see the pimples on players heads. What was all the over zealous security checks about. Also, upon exiting the ground it was a nightmare just getting back to Stratford Station. No wonder so many Hammers fans are disgruntled with this stadium. |
 | News Comment | Kolli rescues Rangers, but injuries mount – Report at 10:33:21
Bit of a strange match. I would use the analogy of a man ordering soup in a restaurant, and the waiter asks how was it. He replies, well it tasted ok, but it was lukewarm. Some of our play was atrocious, but in the end 3 goals does compensate. Everyone around where I sit in SBS were getting mighty frustrated with us constantly losing the ball, and passing it to Wednesday, before the 2 excellent well taken Kolli goals. As for the injuries I’d say not only the state of the pitch, but the sub zero temperatures contributed to them. Now that the ridiculous Christmas and New Year schedule are out the way, there can be no further excuses on the number of matches we’ve had to play, although for every other team it’s been the same. So on to West Ham. At least we have a full week to recover, and hopefully find someway back to full fitness for the players that will be available. Just hope we give it our best shot for the 9,000 of us going. 4th Round here we come. Well maybe, but probably not. |
 | News Comment | Nightmare start to the New Year as Norwich beat QPR again - Report at 22:03:45
Like many on here I don’t just live round the corner from Loftus Road, and in order to get to HQ I have to drive, walk, train it and tube it to make it to what we always hope will be the Promised Land. (Sadly it rarely is.) As a season ticket holder I’ve been doing this for many years, but I’m prepared to put in the effort to support the team I love. Therefore it really made my blood boil with the Norwich match that the players looked as if they were not only still consuming the Christmas turkey leftovers, but were out on the lash the previous night, and awoke with New Year’s Day hangovers. To put in such a turgid display against a Canary shite team has really rattled my cage, (if you’ll excuse the pun). No effort, no plan, no idea. What is going on? Is it the so called exhausting 3 games in a week scenario - yet every other team has the same schedule. Is it the clubs coaching or training methods. Is it the tactical sessions that are not being understood. Whatever it is, there is something seriously wrong behind the scenes to produce this dross and criminally inept display. What’s happened to Kone & Burrell. Did either of them even touch ball. Our defence were so lost for the first Norwich goal, it’s surprising they knew where to return for the kick off. Once again where was our midfield. Norwich used a fairly good high press to pressure and win the ball, but we did nothing like that up the other end. Overall that performance was quite frankly an insult to our fantastic fans, who turn at home and away in huge numbers every week. We deserve much better than this. Lose against Sheffield Wednesday and Julien will surely be a goner. Nothing but a win in my opinion will be acceptable. I truly hope we can turn this around, and bring the pride back to Loftus Road. Sorry, rant over. |
 | News Comment | A miserable return for Marti as white hot QPR incinerate Leicester – Report at 11:14:21
I have to say that when I saw that Dembele was chosen rather than Paul Smith I was a bit disappointed, as so far this season he hadn’t looked anything more than an average player. However, I thought he had a brilliant game against Leicester. He showed all the tricks, he passed well, he tackled and even defended. In the past his final ball was often fluffed, but here everything he did he did well. Overall this was a highly impressive team performance. Play like this for the rest of the season, and we really could be contenders for a play off place. When the 4th was scored by Mbengue it was a moment of sheer joy. Who cares if it was a a shot or a cross. It was an amazing moment when it hit the back of the net. |
 | News Comment | A Morgasm – Report at 22:05:55
I must say that every player put in a massive shift, with some almost out on their knees, and yet they still kept going until the very last second. They thoroughly deserved the win. Deflation and Elation all within 3 minutes. That was the most exciting game at Loftus Road I can recall for quite a while. The last second winning goal, and the incredible celebrations and atmosphere when the ball went in was amazing. Like everyone I was literally jumping for joy, and singing along to our victory songs. It’s moments like these that make it so worthwhile supporting the club you Love! |
 | News Comment | QPR give West Brom both Burrells – Report at 21:30:50
I’m loving watching Burrell play. He seems to have all the attributes you want in a striker. Blistering pace, exemplary work rate, gets in all the right positions and scores goals. It’s a lot to wish for, but could we end up with a 20 goal player by the end of the season. As for the game it wasn’t the best quality, but we definitely deserved the win. One thing I think we do need to work on, is trying to keep the ball on the ground more. How often yesterday were there endless headers going backwards and forwards like ping pong between ours and the Albion players. Quite frustrating to watch. Fingers crossed Chair isn’t out for too long. |
