I was in Ealing for a funeral today. Silver lining, I got a pint of HSB in the Wheatsheaf (first time there for 25 years, looked great). Oooooh, it’s lovely. |

Google Earth says it’s 28 minutes from Secrets in Hammersmith, but you’d have to be heavily laden for it to take that long. I would suggest sitting in Ellerslie Road to save time, but you’d have to add up to 20 minutes to get out on the street and you’d be furious by then. |

Something else that’s different this year is the players’ fitness. To be a man short for 75 minutes but over-running them in the last 15 minutes was really impressive. [Post edited 22 Sep 8:19]

Whatever people on here think of him, Preston were clearly terrified of Saito. He pinned them right back in the corners, draining them of possession in midfield. Scarlett wasn’t being given the ball by his own team, so they could disregard him. [Post edited 21 Sep 11:15]

My son saw the older guy by the steps at the end. He might have been lurking at the top of the stairs after leaving his seat a couple of minutes after the row. The younger guy was a big unit and clearly furious, but he didn’t lay a finger on the other one.
Someone told my son that he thought the younger man had objected to frequent homophobic abuse. It would be the first time I had witnessed such a strong reaction at football if so, but it was striking that no one nearer backed up the older man. |

Two films in the same year for me and there’s bound to be a third. I went to the first of the two de Gaulle films and it was magnificent, if a bit twisty round the edges in a few respects (eg the boy resister). Fantastic depictions of the tensions between the allies and on the demands of loyalty. Can’t wait for the second. |

I absolutely loved the histrionics from Preston’s Clarke on the award of our late corner, and particularly his reaction when we equalised off it, but did he even touch it? Hard cheese, old chap. |

I’ve just seen the replay. Maybe a super cool headed finisher (have we had one since John Spencer?) might have placed the second one rather than blasted it, but it was a phenomenal save from the keeper, really outstanding. |

There was that drum sound of two players in contact with the ball from either side at the same time, but the card was for clearing out his standing leg with the follow through. Wouldn’t have been a red a couple of decades ago, but no surprise now. |
