Chaotic team selection, chaotic outcome as R's slip at West Brom - Report
at 10:41 1 Jan 2026

Agree with all this, except I lost my rag after the Portsmouth match. Didn’t even bother to watch the WBA match as everything about it smelt of ‘can’t be arsed’, from the team selection down. The bare minimum expected after forcing fans to travel and watch that double dross is six points, but we’ll see.

Surely we cannot produce three inept performances in a row. Equally we can’t expect to turn it on when we feel like it, like a tap or we will come unstuck. Hoping Chair is fit to return today, badly missed the last two. We know that ‘on our day’ we are a match for pretty much anybody in this league - trouble is we never know when we are going to be ‘on it’ or not until the game gets going. Thinking a 3-1 result if we are, another turgid draw if we are not.

Isn’t field left-footed? But If Madsen is unfit, I would like to see Morgan play in his position. He has a lot of energy and passes the ball forward. Did okay there for a spell last season. But JS doesn’t seem to view him as a Midfielder at all

Did Bowler or Parrot get anywhere near the Everton or Spurs first teams?

Two home games against the bottom two - Six points ???
at 22:26 30 Dec 2025

Well if we don’t then tossing away last night’s game becomes as pointless as Blackpool (McClaren was it?) in the League cup.

Subbing a Goalkeeper - Why is it only done for Injuries ??
at 19:57 30 Dec 2025

This, obviously. It’s a specialist position unlike anywhere else on the pitch. If a goalkeeper makes a howler it is almost certainly a goal, anywhere else on the pitch the situation is retrievable, or may be a missed ‘sitter’ .
Also, you don’t hear of outfield players being comfortable playing in goal any more like Niall Quinn to name one. used to be. So you change the goalkeeper for tactical reasons , sub goalie gets hurt, you are in trouble.

January transfer rumours

Very hard to see how he would get a game in our current set up. Same with Eze if we resigned with his own money. We are absolutely stacked with quality players in those positions

I called it right. Said if the ‘Portsmouth’ QPR turned up we would lose 2-1

Are we actually creating anything lads? Don’t seem to have had a chance worthy of comment since Poku scraped the bar

QPR look to conquer away jitters at restless West Brom - Preview
at 17:48 29 Dec 2025

Well this. There has been so much comment on the ‘mad Christmas fixtures’ that I was wondering if an extra game had been added? Surely it’s been ever thus? I remember a few years ago, a ‘winter break’ was suggested (possibly only in the Prem) and everybody was up in arms as it was ‘breaking with tradition’.

Cheers Clive, hectic time for you too. I think re the hectic schedule, the way the Christmas fell this year meant there was a longer gap between the Leicester and Portsmouth games than usual. But I don't think the players should be roo concerned about another game tonight. If they weren't playing they would be training and I think most if not all players would choose a game over a training session. Have to manage the load alright. If (which I don't believe) it's RND's last game then play him, if not, play Field. Mbengue will have to be wary of Johnstone cutting inside and has presumably being told about this. Hopefully Chair fit to be involved and Smyth/Poku should start

Depends on whether ‘Leicester’ or ‘Portsmouth’ QPR turn up. 2-1 or 1-2

35 points after 23 games, what’s the realistic target after 46?
at 22:58 28 Dec 2025

It’s really difficult to call. You often see relegation threatened clubs (ourselves included) pick up a disproportionate amount of points in the last 10 games or so. Likewise teams that are comfortably in the play offs (like Sunderland last year and us under Rednapp) often drop a disproportionate amount of points in the same period. Overall, despite individual setbacks, we are in a far better place than I expected us to be.. If we get to 70 and finish a couple of places/points outside the play-offs I would consider that a very successful season (as long as we win the cup as well of course).

Dunne rescues QPR from more Boxing Day blues – Report
at 19:43 28 Dec 2025

This exactly. You can run any of the old adages and they all have an element of truth: ‘It’s the Championship innit - anyone can beat anyone’, an away point is always a good point’ ‘if you can’t win, make sure you don’t get beat’ ‘sign of a good team, plays badly and still doesn’t lose’ etc etc ad nauseam. But to do so is significantly missing the point. Portsmouth is not about the result, but the PERFORMANCE. The performance wasn’t poor, it was abysmal. I don’t buy into the theory that we were ‘transformed’ in the second half either. We were marginally better ( we could scarcely have been worse) for the first twenty minutes or so, but by the end we were hanging on.
This coming in the immediate aftermath of pour best performance of the season, made it even harder to stomach.
We have been having this debate all season, this lack of consistency and what causes it. I am firmly of the opinion that it is attitudinal and have noted on many occasions that you know by the players body language in the first five minutes if they are up for it or not. This is not a JS problem, it has been going on for years,. Different managers, different players, same half-assed attitude when they are not in the mood. Warnock is the last manager to have cracked it at this level. If JS manages to do the same, he deserves to be revered in the same way.

Every word of this I agree with - except a bit harsh on Cook. Not our worst player v Portsmouth by some distance.
