He always celebrates our goals properly when he’s warming up on the side of the pitch: it’s great to see. WLS says we have offered him a new contract and talks are ongoing: really hopes he signs up as he’s a great squad member with a fantastic attitude.
Seems barmy to blindly think he’s untouchable and must be a certain starter every game when we now have a stronger squad with a number of decent players competing for his positions. Surely ALL players not to compete for their places in the first team: healthy competition and all that.
I’d say he’s no longer the first player on the team sheet: behind RND (if fit), Mbengue, Madsen, Burrell and maybe a couple of others. He also missed our good performance against Birmingham as well. Good squad player though.
His predecessors playing one up front at home led to boring games, no goals and hardly any wins: it’s great to have a head coach prepared to play two forwards. Not saying any of them were great but I would expect Celar and Dykes would’ve had much more success if played up front with a half decent partner.
We are half way through the season so I think it’s very fair to judge Stéphan. Seems unfair that you want to judge him on whether he gets a win on Boxing Day. Similarly Leicester City fans are perfectly entitled to judge Cifuentes on how he has performed for them over the course of half a season and the majority are not happy.
Get behind our current Head Coach: your post is far more pro Martí than Julien.
Didn’t hear it from SA Road end of Lower Loft: I have no time for Cifuentes but no need for that happening. It’s been good to hear the SA Road end of Upper Loft starting a lot of chants this season: Last Christmas was excellent 👍
He was outthought by Julien in all areas today and it was a pleasure to see. How he set them up in that first half considering he knows most of our players was embarrassing: we tore them apart. Not surprised he made no changes until the 63rd minute and his team were still passing it around at the back with no urgency either: we’ve all seen it before.
I thought that was an inspired decision from Julien: Cifuentes would’ve known all about Nardi’s weaknesses and may have exploited them. Although based on how the team he picked played and his usual woeful use of substitutions perhaps not.
Looks like a lot of regular attendees have missed out: I assume a large number of people are going who probably last went to a QPR game at Wembley in 2014……
Based on feedback from the clubs he’s been out on loan to Cooper looks the best keeper we have at the moment but I assume there’s no break clause to get him back in January. Nardi’s stock may have risen as he’s been playing again recently so perhaps we’ll get an offer next month for him. If no then get Walsh out on loan but only if he’s going to be a starter so he gets some game time. Janet has done well enough to be kept on if needed.
He needs to be playing at a higher level than Enfield Town though. He had a month loan at Torquay which is higher so returning to Enfield doesn’t seem to be progress.
I found the MOTD programme that showed highlights of the 1982 WBA FA Cup semifinal at Highbury on YouTube recently: the commentator said that both teams had returned tickets and we only took 20000 that day? Anyone remember? As a child at the game it seemed pretty full to me. It was a pretty dull game: apart from the Clive Allen rebound goal neither keeper had much to do, Bob Hazell was magnificent in keeping Cyrille Regis quiet all game.
Why will Edwards be cheap in January? Southampton don’t need the money and he’s on the bench most weeks so one long term injury to any of their central defenders and he’s in their team again. And having paid over £3m for him then they’d surely want at least their money back.
