| Forum Reply | League 1 clubs interested in Rodney at 07:18 4 Apr 2024
I can understand Rodney taking better offers in terms of pay, because a footballers career can be a short career. However as others have said, the Dale stood by him this year throughout his health issues, so you would expect some degree of loyalty from Rodney. Whatever he decides, I wish him all the best, he as been a good servant to the club. |
| Forum Reply | Refwatch: Rochdale v Hartlepool United at 18:36 1 Apr 2024
I thought Mitchell sending off was harsh, but the Hartlepool player did enough to con the referee. It put us on the back foot, but at the start of the second half, Rochdale seem to come out with a negative approach, as if they got told to keep it tight. Which was a pity, because Hartlepool looked nothing special and looked there for the taking. At least McNulty got the subs right, I would have given Hendo more time, to use his experience and I also thought Mather had a good game, and was slightly surprised with his substitution. But to a point in the dying seconds was a positive and Rodney deserves credit for not giving up. [Post edited 1 Apr 18:45]

| Forum Reply | Gateshead Game Predictions at 08:41 30 Mar 2024
I did not expect much from Gateshead to be honest and this is not down to the team, it is basically down to McNulty. I have said it before, the team is good enough for the playoffs, but throwing points away against teams like Oxford City and other poor teams, due his preference for 'total options' football or what we call possession football. I heard a rumour that Hendo had a go at him recently over his tactics and he as been on the bench since. We all accept that McNulty is a nice man and he is new as a manager, but is he the man who can take us forward, if he cannot change or is prepared to change. Hopefully when Sir Peter Ogden and Lady Ogden agree to take over, they can persuade McNulty to take advice from somebody like Keith Hill, who could act like a mentor to him. Because no matter what the fans think of McNulty and his possession football. tactics, I still expect McNulty to be the manager next season, but he needs to learn from what he as done right and more importantly, what he as done wrong, but is capable of doing this? | Forum Reply | Gateshead Game Predictions at 11:11 29 Mar 2024
I personally expect us to get beat, because Gateshead are a good team and the Dale will try to pass the ball across the back four and the keeper, and b*gger it up, at some point. Having said that, you would not put it pass the Dale getting a positive result, if we approach with the right attitude. It is a pity that we don't get regular updates on injuries, when will Mellor and Sinclair be back, how serious is Hayes injury. A further question, if Hayes is injured today, do you play it tight with Clayton strengthening the midfield or do you play Mather on the wing? |
| Forum Reply | Building for next season at 09:40 27 Mar 2024
This is my input; Contracted for next season: George Nevett (Expires 2026) - expected to be sold Harvey Gilmour Jesurun Uchegbulam Kairo Mitchell Kyle Ferguson Ryan East Out of contract from July: Cameron John - a new contract (depending on money) Adam Clayton - a new contract, he has the experience, but his age is a factor Brad Kelly (not sure if he has an option of another year) - a new 1 year contract Devante Rodney - new contract Ethan Ebanks-Landell - new contract Ian Henderson - his age is a factor, but I would give a new contract Jimmy Keohane - a new contract (he can operate in a number of positions) Kyron Gordon - I expect him to be offered a contract Max Taylor - freed Tyrese Sinclair - a new contract, but he could get better offers elsewhere Michael Afuye (option for another year) - free transfer Loans to return to parent clubs: Cian Hayes (Fleetwood) - I would like him to sign, but I would expect him to get better offers. Jacob Chapman (Huddersfield) - if he is a free transfer, offer him a contract Tiernan Brooks (Notts County) - D'Mani Mellor (Wycombe) - I would not be surprised, if he signs for the Dale in the summer. Finlay Armstrong (Fleetwood) - If he is a free transfer, I would sign him. Sam Mather (Manchester United) - season long loan (if possible) Sam Murray (Manchester United) - Dan Sassi - If he is free, would McNulty sign him? If the finances are good enough and based on the predictions above, we will need to sign a GK, possibly 2 CD's, a winger and a striker. |

I must admit, the news is very positive and hopefully, when the complete the takeover, it will give us the stability we need. May I ask, does that mean the American bid is dead or on hold. |
| Forum Reply | The Exiles are back in town….. at 07:16 24 Mar 2024
Totally agree, Chapman looked a decent keeper, I would like Hayes to remain and he seems happy here, but I can image, he would get decent offers, and Henderson's experience would be invaluable. I have said it before, if you can keep most of the squad together and make one or two additions, we would be a serious contender next season for promotion. I would also consider signing Armstrong as well, he is a decent player and it would be nice for United to allow Mather to spend next season on loan at the Dale. |

I never thought of that, so this may be a trial period, for him to show his ability as a keeper. |

It states he is Australian, how many Australians have played for us or would he be the first |
| Forum Reply | Independent football regulator - it's happening at 13:53 20 Mar 2024
Did Simon not say that some of the money should be fed into the national league, if my memory serves me, he said that if each of the national league teams received half a million a year, the Dale financial position would be more secure and this would to virtually every other team. The money should feed down to the national league, because it is effectively League 3 in all but name. It is the same with the voting for promotion from the national league to be increased to three, it was put off last year due talks on the money between the EFL and the premier league, and it looks it will be delayed once again. I will believe in the regulator, when I see it, there will be some delay and the premier league will no doubt be in charge through what ever means it takes. |

The team, when it plays on the front foot as the potential to beat anyone, as shown at Eastleigh, but sadly sometimes the football can be slow and pedestrian and allow mistakes to be made by the passing sideways. Which as a fan can be frustrating, I agree it can be difficult to get a perfect balance between the two styles of play. This weekend, I can see Sassi or Taylor come in for Nevett or even either Keohane or John operating in the centre defence, but can we get a keeper in for just one game or will other clubs expect at least a few games on loan. One potential positive, is that hopefully Mather will be available on Saturday, apparently he had a dead leg last weekend. |

Perhaps, if he stopped his obsession with total options football, we may do. This weekend with have Brooks and Nevett on International duty, Oscar Kelly has also been called for Northern Ireland U-17 squad, could we apply the three international ruling this weekend? |

If we did it, I think we would have to win the remaining 7 games and hope results go our way. If the takeover is achieved, I think we should try to keep the vast majority of the squad together, with only a few leaving and sign a few quality players for next season (if possibly Hayes as well). If we can do this, we may be serious contenders for the top seven, because our squad is a decent squad at this level. |

You think that Wolves would out of sheer decency offer us some fee. |
| Forum Reply | Wolves Set To Sign Mane at 07:21 16 Mar 2024
If the deal goes through, besides bringing money into the club, it shows the value and success of our academy. When we can also expect Nevett to be sold in the summer as well. |

I cannot figure out, why some posters seem to want the Dale to fold, talking about being negativity. Hopefully the Americans or the other group will get the takeover the line and the Dale can move forward. Sometimes, I wonder if they are Southall or Bottomley or some minion seeking to cause mischief. If the takeover fails, then we look at the future, but until then, support the Dale, rather then talk us into oblivion. |

I must admit my opinion of Simon is at an all time low, he should have showed some respect to both bidders, but Simon lack of decency to TFC says a lot about Simon. Also did he mislead the fans at the EGM, could he have not been honest, because the fans know we are skint. I just hope the deal goes through and we can move from our present chaos. |
| Forum Reply | TFC respond to WSH exclusivity at 18:51 12 Mar 2024
What worries me, is if the WSH deal goes pear shape, as Simon signed our death warrant by not maintaining links with TFC. It is a pity that they could not get both of them to work together to gain equal control. |
