Yes, and he's also very quick which which makes it more difficult to stop on a slippery surface. I thought he tried to pull out of both challenges, barely made contact on the 2nd and getting that 2nd yellow looked harsh.too me. |

Yes, spot on re Madsen's block. I mentioned the same on the Madsen thread. He with Walsh and Dunne were our best players at Oxford for me. Dembele was good during the earlier part of the game especially as somebody has already said in central positions, rather than wide on the right. Perhaps he is the one who should be playing 10 when we get some quick wide players back from rehab. |

For me what Madsen has considerably improved on since last season is his defensive work. Clearing, blocking, tackling and intercepting the ball with his long legs, and his reading of the game. He is also winning numerous balls in midfield and some in defence with his head. At Oxford for example he won many loose balls in midfield with his head and got back to block an Oxford player as he was trying to pull the trigger in our penalty area. His forward passing and vision remains excellent now in a deeper position than where he was playing at the end of last season when he was in a better position to assist and score goals. I'd like him to get forward and shoot more again as he has it in him. |

We are interested in Ghanaian striker 21 year oldJalal Abdullai from Elfsborg. He has just returned from a loan at Molde where he scored 9 goals in 24 games according to gossip on BBC and other media outlets. Swansea, Preston and others supposedly interested. |

Agree with this and I should add that the wind was so bad it blew a still ball away at set pieces and balls kicked with the wind were often blown much further than intended. Tyler and Andy were only half joking about potential damage to their cars parked behind the goal. Any better skill sets our players had were reduced by this.. |

I put in a shout for 3 at the back earlier this season and now we have Edwards to play alongside Dunne and Cook /Morrison/ Field in the 3, it looks well worth trying after training with it, which maybe difficult now n the 3 game week. I''m surprised JS didn't use Smith in Burrell's position Saturday, he still looks the obvious replacement for him to me with his pace. |

Dunne was Excellent yesterday, MoM for me. Walsh, Cook and Madsen were all very good. Our problems came from our players, apart from Madsen, being unable to pass to each other, especially forwards; our starting wide players were poor and not helped by playing on the wrong wings; Kone misused the few chances he got, and Kolli was ineffectual again. Surely if we play the same system without Burrell we need to use Smith's pace to replace him there. [Post edited 18 Jan 10:55]

Yes, we really miss Burrell. I'm surprised why when we continue to play the same way Smith isn't tried in his position. Otherwise hope we can find another Burrell this window one way or the other. |

Think we will need to provide manned accommodation as well. |

Seems like I'm one of few but apparently like Stefan and Marti who thinks Varane is playing ok and currently better when fit in central midfield than Field , Haden or Morgan. But £6 M would give a decent profit. |

Previously I have thought that if we are going to spend this kind of money on a CB we need to get a taller more powerful player in there. I still do really, but JCS did show recently how useful it is to have someone who can play out from the back, so certainly not complaining. |

I think the Club said JCS had got his ankle badly kicked. Chair pulled up after delivering a cross holding his leg, like it was his hamstring but don't remember the Club providing any info on that. |

I think you are right when you say we are hampered by a "lack of energy". Generally we seem to do better after a full week between one match and the next, Leicester and the WBA home game the recent examples. Other teams seem to handle the ridiculous tight schedule better than we do. Hopefully the Club are looking at what they are doing better, Williams area of responsibility I think. |

I thought Kolli did fine, looked good on the ball. Morgan not so good. |
