Workman like performance early goal was crucial in this game. I like loftus cheek on there side but he was the only standout there. All our players stepped up from last week. I think with this solid defence we have can now build in a few ways. We should go more direct and not so much fancy stuff great possession though . |

:((((((((( wahhh Watford where the best i seen them caught us off guard. Some players had a chance to step up and were pushed off the ball boufal wants too much of the ball so does tadic headless chicken comes to mind. They could be the creative force but have to think better into final third and release the ball earlier, two up front please. Eric Black was part of Aston Villas disappearing act i cant see him supporting MP enough to help him get the right formation and tactics. I think it was same for Puel.. looked a good side on paper, but we are found wanting after international breaks. we need high press and not to sit to deep sideways crept in again today. Cant afford to keep looking at the best formation and giving players run outs best 11 and stick with it. |

Dusan doesn't seem to like mid week away games. Overall we should have had at least a point in this game. finishing again pretty average one mistake and one unfortunate first goal against as i like the fact romeo tried to track his man better than he has been doing and the defensive pressure giving the forwards to much time to play on that break on the second = two goals for 3o mins first half we went to sleep second half all over them . but then teams know how to park the bus against us still thought it was a good game and performance by us especially second half. welcome back Boufal and hello Manolo give them time to jel

Tadic and Mane are good enough, it's attitude plus the amount of games in the the Eredivise is far less (also with a winter break over there) than they are uses too. Also Pelle both times about this time of year as an injury lay off and gets christmas. from that point of view we need hardier players but all three have brought something special after the Exodus, however not for all the games. |

Wanyama still hiding and blind to the pass on some occasions and yet still has the physical presence needed to break up teams attacks JWP great game with steven davies supporting Mane and Shane long
who tirelessly are worth there weight in gold at the moment

good performance in the wet we had a good pair in centre mid Clasie and Romeu terriers .. Matt Targett crossing as vastly improved and Shane Long's untiring effort Not forgetting Mane and on another day could have netted three Steven Davies goal was superbly taken no way was it OFFSIDE. Should have been 5.. Good to see the First team nearly back to full strength. Another striker to pair up front and we will be back up there. |

Credit to Koeman he gave non regulars a chance and they all did their bit but nothing really outstanding. I prefer Yoshida down the middle, not on the wing not pacy enough and crosses bar one where off great one two with Ramirez was right in line with the move and the goal..l practice makes perfect dont you just love a goal from the unexpected from the back.. Not forgetting Pelle's movement and goal (best player over the season) which was good throughout the game. VVD is my player for October who grows better each game and Toby is a far off dream.. Very much a tale of two halves and I do like the movement and Head of Rudy Gestede but villa have no real fire power and will be struggling like a block of cheese with the wrong wine. We had a few glimpses of Ramirez and what he can do but he still needs to up a level. Tadic and Davies came on and that level rose a good value night.. thanks Saints |

I liked Rodriguez movement seems to double up for Pelle We need another option through the middle we should have started with the wing play v Norwich which was great to watch. West Brom where the same team as Norwich in fact minus Ricky they were probably worse. Mane should have started and then subbed not the other way around.
Romeu should start next to a fortunate Victor who was solid
Turning possession into final third threat needs some variation
3 at the back 5 in the middle and 2 up front will carve these teams open |

All my mates who support the saints, say why o why didn't we play this team on Thursday. They were moving the ball around playing it up field not hoofing iit up to Pelle. Tadic Mane Romeu and Soares were excellent so too was Pelle and JWP. Tagert redeemed himself though can't get the cross in like Betrand and great to see Roddy get a half he cracked a couple Willing to shoot from outside the box shows the variety is back.
We are frustrated not to have the odd European excursion look were we might have enjoyed going too and pitting up against Napoli Brugge and somewhere in Poland Waaaahhhh.. but maybe not as much as the players will be, lest they didn't fancy Thursday/ Sunday.
Still forth is realistic if everybody is fit so is a good cup run with the depth we have now keep clean sheet's because we will score goals... |
