Is The Grass Greener For Those Southampton Players Who Left In The Summer
at 11:39:06

Really I think that for all the players we actually wanted to keep, it’s only really been Prowse who’s done that well and really shone at wherever they joined. But it is still kinda satisfying to hear how a few of the lads that thought they were too good for the championship aren’t necessarily doing as well as they thought they’d be doing, and may of been better off staying with us, which makes you wonder if any regret their moves.
Although I’m especially interred to see how Livermento and Lavia do turn out, as they’re two players who had that potential to be some of the best players for their positions, but as shown so far by their starts to the season, they may have left just a season too early.

Hull V Southampton Showed The Refereeing Standards In England Are At An All Time Low
at 11:06:28

Look I myself didn’t see this game so can’t comment too much on how good/bad the ref was, but seeing how I’d heard nothing whatsoever around him before this, I’d of certainly of thought he couldn’t of been that bad on Saturday.

As your right that refs are becoming more and more scared to make mistakes, but that’s because the media are highlighting the tiniest of mistakes more and more (and sometimes will even highlight things they get correct, saying they got it wrong), therefore raising the expectation of quality of officiating from the refs, where if there’s anything much controversial then it’s the refs fault.
And due to the media highlighting so much more, refs are now being punished even more for making mistakes, which has only made their job even more pressurised (which was already hard enough as it was), and will lead to even less referees, so therefore a lower quality.

As this ref was probably just scared that if we’d scored from the corner and he’d not even of checked, then he’d of been the main talking point from the game and could’ve been at risk of being punished for something that nobody complained about a few decades ago and would've been called pathetic for blaming it on the ref if you had back then.

Southampton To Lodge Joint Bid For Swansea City Duo
at 11:53:23

I don’t think the signing of Piroe would necessarily mean the departure of Adams, as from what I’ve read he can also play on the wing, so could be one of the wide midfielders to start, in a more forward like position, rather than the likes of Edozie. As like what’s already been said on another thread, I think Everton have dropped their interest in Adams and I’ve not heard anyone else connected to him yet, so do think we may be able to keep hold of him (and maybe even renew his contract if both us and he do well this season heading back up to the prem).

But one way or another I think that if we can get in these two as well as this Norwegian midfielder, then this window won’t have been a bad one whatsoever with us having been relegated, and how it all looked only like a fortnight ago or so.

Romeo Lavia Could Be Making A Swift Return To St Mary's On Loan
at 14:29:15

Well if Chelsea do end up loaning him out, then you’d of thought it would be to a lower/mid-table prem team, as there’s certainly not many players in the championship worth around £60m!
But still if we somehow did get him back on loan, then we really would be seen as mugging Chelsea right off! Still I certainly wouldn’t complain if that was what happened

Ward Prowse Deal In Jeopardy As Scott McTominay Linked With West Ham
at 22:18:55

Not too fussed either way, I’d he stays then we keep a Prem quality midfielder in the championship who’ll work really well for RM tactics.
If he goes the we get in a decent fee for him which can hopefully start to help fund a few new faces come through the door.

Either way it’s a win, win in my books

As you’ve just stated ifonly SFP needs to have excessive force or brutality and what would be just your usual shoulder barge, if it wasn’t for Bednerak being midair, is not SFP for either of those two. And seeing how, like I said before, bederak is also jumping over the arsenal lad, as the arsenal lad going into him more, yes, but bednerak is also going towards and into him, as it’s not a red as it’s been caused by both. As after seeing the replay, yeah I would probably say it is a cautioning, yeah, as the arsenal player is late and has more force, but sorry but as much as I’d love to say there is, there’s just not enough in there for a red.

And how he’s fallen is irrelevant under the LOTG, as if he’d fallen on his ass/feet, rather than how awkwardly he did land, then nobody would say that it’s a red. But many are saying it’s a red due to how he fell, which wasn’t nice, but is irrelevant under the LOTG as it’s not how a player falls over after being tripped up which determined the disciplinary action, but the trip itself, which is why a late shoulder barge is a foul and yeah probably a cautioning, but certainly isn’t a red.

And you talk about rugby, but it’s different in that sport on the fact that players don’t jump up to header/catch a ball over an opponent, but simply go straight up, as it’s simply just a late shoulder barge whilst he’s midair, which may not be allowed in rugby, but when they’re on the ground is allowed, whilst in football whether their midair or not is fairly irrelevant. As you can’t compare the LOTG to rules for other sports for things that are part of the game (aka SFP, DOGSO etc…) but only really for things that shouldn’t be happening in any sports (like VC, FAL, dissent etc…).

As saying that’s a red in football, would practically say that every time a player jumps over an opponent where the point just bends over and doesn’t jump (which happens all the time) is a yellow card offence, and they’re never reckless as it’s just as much the offended players fault for the incident as it is the offenders, hence why they’re also quite often, just waved away.

Ok but it’s not a red card as bednerak is the one that’s jumped over him and he’s the one that fallen awkwardly, as yeah the Arsenal player backs into him a little, but there’s very little force which is exactly why it’s just a free kick, as bednerak is the one that causes most of the force and a cautioning would be harsh, yet understandable, but it’s never a red.

Yeah but between us getting the goal back, and then going 3-1 up, we weren’t attacking as much and did seem to just wanna let them have possession, and almost be the opposite of how we were in the first half. As I’m not sure if we were gonna go full throttle for the last few minutes if it had stayed as 2-1 or looked for a set piece, but we did seem to just let them have possession which was why they were all over us for that 30 minute spell.
As it was only when they went 3-1 up that we started to get back into it and were similar to how we were in that first half, but this time did actually take our chances.

But either way if we had an elusive goal scorer that took all their chances for most of this season then we’d be no where near this relegation scrap right now

Ok but it’s not the refs that decided the LOTG Ifonly, that’s IFAB that do all of that, as I agree that they’re still subjective, but the fact is that for many things like handballs, reckless play, serious foul play etc… there will always be decisions that are opinionated where your gonna have a 50:50 split.

As I agree that there have been some stupid and mind baffling decisions given by VAR this season, yeah 100%, but most haven’t been yet like I highlighted in my weekly conclusion that’s never highlighted by anyone. As yes we will get the blatant mess up from time to time, but many of these supposed “mistakes” are correct under the LOTG and are simply decisions where your gonna have people getting split opinion on, and that’s why the LOTG can’t always be black and white for things like that, thee will always be borderline decisions where you can’t have it in black and white

You get that somewhere off of the internet by any chance Ifonly?

But for the question itself, it’s the use of what many refs call “law 18”, aka common sense!
And even then the gloves your describing sound like a satiety hazard anyway with how far out they extend and how easy it would be to fall over them or get them swung into someone

Ok Messysaints but that’s exactly why you can’t go for things like a bicycle kick when there’s that many players around you with at least one that’s almost certain to go in for that header. As players have to access situations, which is why you can’t go sliding in two footed/high studs when it’s towards an opponent, or why you can’t had a high studs up foot when trying to intercept a ball with opponents around you etc... As you’ve gotta assess the situation and look at whether the risk is worth it or not, which Mara’s was not and was lucky to get away with just a cautioning.
As it’s no different to a high boot where a lads gone to kick it rather than heading it, and due to doing so, has studied the player in the face, which we’ve all seen many times before and all seen that’s it always results in a red card.

As no player should ever have to worry about a high foot or such when going in for a header, as your not allowed to kick the ball above waist height (which is why a diving header is differebt as the players foot has to be above waist height for it to be automatically a foul and when someone’s going in for a diving header their foot usually doesn’t need to be above their waist) when it’s within heading distance of an opponent, which he clearly did. And the reason why it’s a red and not a yellow/warning, is because not only has he made clear contact, but the contact was right on the face and had loads of power behind it.

As for serious foul play/seriously endangering the safety of an opponent, intent is IRRELEVANT, as it doesn’t matter what they were meaning or trying to do, as it endangered the safety of an opponent to an extent where they could’ve/were serious injured, which is why it’s 100% a red card. As otherwise why can’t more players just go in foot first for those arial balls and end up stuffing/kicking their points in their face? Why can’t more players just go in for stupid challenges that seriously endanger the safety of an opponent where they know they can get away with it as they’re going for the ball? As there’s a reason why it’s practically unanimous on any referee groups I’m in over whether he should’ve been sent off or not (although for once the mistake went in our favour).

Yeah well that’s why I think he should’ve at least been sent to the monitor PeterX, as the only reason why I’m less so certain on the red is because the contact is quick and isn’t ridiculously forceful, so isn’t necessary Clear and Obvious, which is why the monitor decision would’ve been better.

But the handball for Spurs has no unnatural movement as he gets a little nudge from Richarlison which puts him off balance which is why his hands are down there (to try and regain balance) and the movement wasn’t towards the ball but towards the ground, which is why it’s not a handball. But ether way it’s certainly not a Clear and Obvious error which is why I’m even more happier with VAR for not getting involved in this one as many are split over the correct outcome to this incident and both sides have points.

Yeah I saw it on a referee group I’m in pjt50, and really it’s only a cautioning for Arteta (as a form of dissent) but for how often he’s a right tw@y to referees and the officials always being a complete jerk to them, the FA should ether give him a last warning or suspend him for X amount of games, as until they do things like that then nothing will change at the end of the day

Well u less you’ve got a replay of that incident obelisk then unfortunately I can’t say too much on it. But yeah the AR’s are meant to delay their flags until the any promising attack or such is over, and then flag for it (unless the outcome for the defending team is better anyway) but if what your sayings correct then yeah the linesman messed up as the only time their meant to flag early is when their is nothing promising about the attack or if the AR is 100% certain (which they can’t be if it’s wrong)

£12 Million Bid Lodged For Danny Ings
at 17:53:44

Not exactly that great of a signing as all it would’ve done is delayed our number 9 issue for a season or so, not solved it. And even then there’s always the possibility that he could get injured quite soon, or even then not be what he used to, as it’s hardly likes he’s been shining that bright since he left us.
And of course on top of all that you’ve got how much he’d want wages wise which is the main reason he left us in the first place! Which I myself and I’m sure a fair few others weren’t the biggest fans of…

Yeah well I only didn’t mention that incident from the north London derby as there’s very little VAR or the refs could do as it was just a little scuffle and nothing major like violent conduct or anything that warranted any red cards or VAR getting involved.

And that beach ball incidents a very famous one for refs, but the LOTG have changed a lot since, so it wouldn’t be the same as what it was previously.
But still have a go at the questions TimSaint and see how well you do

Answers for last times now that the prems starting up again

A1= 7 players are required at minimal for when play is restarted

A2= Team B must select a player to not participate in the shootout (but can choose wherever they want to be taken off), to make the numbers level, as at all points in a penalty shootout both teams numbers must be level, whilst team A will have to have all those who ended the game as part of their group for the shootout.

A3= A goal kick must be awarded to team B, as no player (including the goalies) can score by directly using their hands, even if they did have some Olympic gold medalist throw which allowed them to throw it from their own box into the opponents net.
