Will Smallbone has impressed me a lot. Everytime he passes the ball forward he runs inside the box and more often than the opponent loses track of him. JWP used to do the same runs for England in the few games that the manager was brave enough to play him ahead of the fancy names. But like JWP, Smallbones teammates dont feed him enough.
If smallbone improves his finishing, he would easily score 20 odd goals a season. |

I like him a lot. I miss him. Those special wins against Arsenal, and Chelsea at Stamford bridge. Setting traps all over the pitch and feeling so confident even without the ball. And how we sometimes preferred to chase the ball in the opponent’s half so we can counter and score within 10secs of winning it back. Very direct. And thrilling.
I think he lost his way when he started focusing more on possession football. We just weren’t built for that.
I will welcome him back anytime alongside Danny Rohl. |

Just don’t do what Leeds did; smash a strong team in Ipswich and lose to a weaker opponent in the next match. Follow this smashing with another win, doesn’t have to be a smashing. Just win. Beautifully, ugly, harshly, nicely…I don’t care. Just win.
Also, don’t rule out a Leicester crumbling towards the business end of the season. Remember 3 -4 seasons ago in the PL when they were second position and had a 15 point gap with the team in 4th, they bottled it up and ended up sixth? They never really recovered from that imo.
There is no other way we can control how teams around us perform other than beating them when we meet.

Just to go and spend millions on transfers and agents fees for the same grass that only looks geener on the other side.
Will Smallbone, Jake Hesketh and Co who have all had cup games and PL experience with the first team are gone. Smallbone I thought has been our best MF in pre-season, has the weirdest loan move imo.
Who else remembers what Ralph said in his first interview about the squad been too big? Is it any smaller now? Well hmm 😒 |
