Saints Land Che Adams
at 16:20:46

In truth though Brock, I think all of us are "hoping" that boufal could integrate, myself included, but it's probably highly unlikely that he could just change his attitude and jump on the train/take his chance. Selling him will add to our funds for strengthening the defence. Lemina is a bit similar.. can be great on his day, but we haven't seen many of those days. We did ok without him last year.. if he stays does he actually improve us that much? Time will tell.

Le Tiss Names The Player To Build The Saints Team Around !

He wasn't even in his 20s working under pep. Look how much he's improved since joining us. Hojbjerg moved so he could get game time and improve.

My favourite player at the club. I'm desperate for him to sign a long term contract. He gives us heart, soul and passion on the pitch. He's solid, very intelligent, speaks well in interviews. We need to keep him for another 2-3 years at least. I personally see him joining a big club like city if pep guardiola is still there in a few years time. Brilliant player

Saints Agree Fee For Winger ! Medical Scheduled
at 14:54:48

Bstokesaint it's wasn't about us "being more patient with past players. We are a small club, with a 30k seater stadium and a minute (in comparison) revenue etc due to shirt sales, fan base and global standing when up against the likes of Liverpool etc. In years gone by we had to sell to survive. In more recent times we have had to sell in order to have a SQUAD capable of competing, which worked! Once poch left along with lallana, Shaw etc we bought players like mane and pelle and they made us a better team. Unfortunately players now hold more power than clubs do in the game, so when mane wants to go (as he did prior to joining us) he can control when he goes. We saw it with vvd. We didn't want to sell him, we didn't TRY to sell him. We held on to him but he downed tools and so our hands were tied. We got 75 million for him. Unfortunately under reed we didn't use that money wisely enough but more than anything we brought in the wrong managerial appointments and lost pur way big time. Now we have made the RIGHT appointment who will hopefully give us a brilliant and full season before he probably gets poached by another club. That's the way it is. If we had 60000 fans turn up at ST Mary's every week then I'm sure we could pay the wages to keep the players at the club longer. But we don't. So we find another way to compete, and also to survive LONG TERM instead of doing what clubs such as Leeds, pompey et al have done and financially cripple themselves for short term goals.

Better still, go and support pompey, or Bournemouth..or if you only want to SUPPORT teams that spend lots of money go and support man city, or psg.

No Brock. A supporter SUPPORTS the team. Clue is in the name. If you've supported saints for 30 years then surely you're aware of the relegation scraps, the tiny stadium, the very few ups and many downs.. the lowest being dropping to league 1. At this point we were bought, given a plan, improved infrastructure, got back to the premier league, stayed there, reached Europe.. then we deviated from the plan and we've had a dip. Now when we try and go back to the plan that brought us success you MOAN again!!! What do you want us to do? Go and buy players for 60 million and bankrupt ourselves like pompey? Have a word with yourself mate.

Saints Ready to Pursue Adams Again
at 08:46:24

Didn't know you worked in the accounts department for the club and had such a detailed understanding of our finances, SaintBrock.
A young, fit version of Austin?.. sounds like an ideal signing to me.... I'm curious as to how you've made that comparison though?.. watch many Birmingham games?

Five Minutes And You're Almost There !
at 19:30:56

I think yoshida should stay. He is good back up, committed and seems a well liked member of the squad. But Nick is right, he's not an out and out leader (none of the back line are) and he is not someone you can rely on week in week out. Stephens on the other hand, just can't be relied upon full stop. He's young enough that he might raise a half decent fee (better than yoshida would command) he needs to go.

Lemina On Verge Of A Return

Ings is an obligation to buy so there is no sending him back. He is on loan but is essentially our player. If the niggles stop he is a class player and important to how we play.

Ings Sparkles Against Wolves
at 17:57:54

SaintBrock your comments are actually laughable on the last 2 posts 're. Ings do you know anything about football? Criticising Ralph for his team choice and substitutions despite us winning 3-1 and lamenting ings as poor despite the fact that he ended up with 1 assist, could have had 3, made key passes and interceptions, and the 2 subs coming on at a time and getting us a goal and making us more stable. Where do you get off mate!? Lol

As Ralph said, we know have versatility and options which mean we are unpredictable.. wolves had probably prepared all week for us playing 3-5-2 with hojbjerg romeu and jwp in the middle... so when we start with 3-4-3 and pace in abundance up top the could do nothing about it. We outsmarted them. At 2-1 up he changed sims and ings for romeu and long meaning we can win in midfield but still have an outlet.

As Nick has said it is not all about scoring goals. It a about imposing ourselves on the opposition sometimes. Ings takes up positions that make their defence second guess about where they should be and also about how to play.. shown clearly by the fact that when we won the ball high ings would either be open to receive the ball in dangerous areas or he would be occupying a defender or two leaving space for Redmond or sims to attack.

Calling our player "hopeless" when he actually had a very good 45 minutes is embarrassing. And we are trying to get him fully fit, so better him have an hour than just 45.

I appreciate football is about different opinions, but in the time I've been reading this site and you've been posting, I've never seen a worthwhile or positive opinion from you.

I reckon you're more saintgosport than saintbrock

Got to be 4-2-2-2 for me. We have to get at Fulham.

Jwp-armstrong
Redmond-austin
We need goals. Probably about 3 to stand a chance of winning lol

Barren Transfer Window Doesn't Mean Disaster For Saints
at 14:46:03

All the club's around us have bright players in... 2 of Brighton transfers don't join till the summer, 38 year old Peter crouch? Palace are paying batshuayi £160 a week! Crazy money! Newcastle have made a couple of good signing, having barely spent any money at all in over 10 years. The rest of the signings are hardly game changers are they!? The fact is our squad is too big. RH stated that and said it needed to be cut. Gabbi out on a permanent, a couple of loans, David out of contract end of season. I think it's been a good window. As long as we don't get any injuries we will be fine and have offloaded some players and wages ready to build in the summer. No one was available for reasonable money that would actually IMPROVE us so what's the point in buying just for the sake of it?it would put us in a worse position with the less space, money, wages in the summer to sign players that WIPL improve us.

Hasenhuttl Is Not At Home To Complacency
at 16:00:21

Long time reader, first time poster. Love the site Nick. I've taken the final leap to posting on here due to finally having enough of saint brocks incessant pessimism. That last comment takes the biscuit.

If you'd have kept an eye on Ralph's statements and interviews about thrbclub and it's transfer policy you would know that he is more than happy with what has been going on and I imagine has had quite an active role in deciding who to let go/sell/loan and who, if any, to bring in.
Nick is right in his reasons for going tonight. And that is exactly what RALPH is asking for...SUPPORT for our team, our players, our youngsters and our club. If you only support teams based on their transfers might it be more worthwhile to support someone else?..
I'll be there, with 2 mates, in the cold, itchen north, encouraging the team towards a positive result.
