I think the diamond isn't working. I'm willing to give it one more go just to see how Bertrand will do. Fonte is becoming reckless. Maybe cause he's waiting for the contract issue to settle down. Cedric's head was in it and I think that is because of the new contract but, he need to up his game. Token did better. I like our starting midfield. Maybe we need a super versatile defensive player like Daley Blind but all is well. Noticed how this game, we were more direct and I think that wasn't a great idea. I think we need to be more patient in our build up play. Our type of play requires really creative players and a finisher so Boufal will be a welcome addition. If the 4-4-2 diamond doest work anymore we need to use 4-3-3 with a false 9 which works for us. I'm not too worried cause we have a lot of games to get the system to tick but I'm confident that once it does we will look like a quality team. |

That was awful.....The game can be pretty much summed up by looking at Tadic's Penalty miss. The game was there for our taking but we let it slip....
Defense was solid UNTIL that slip in concentration. Bertrand played amazingly. I want to keep him
Midfield...I thought Wanyama was HORRENDOUS in the first half. He picked it up in the second half but that only brings him up from a 4 to a 5 -__- completely horrendous Davis was good. He seemed like the only focused player on the field. Hesketh was great...he was like a breath of fresh air. am sooo Gutted that the kid didnt get to finish his full mtch debut. I feel that he is a great player. Ward-Prowse didnt do much for me. He didnt make any impact but he didnt mess up either. Some deadly balls were played from him though..That is something we surely missed. I am sure he will be back to his best form in a few games
Going forward. Mane was awful today. He should not start. Long should start. Not once in this game did Mane and Tadic switch. Trippier shut him down all night. Tadic played well but he shoulda scored the PK. honestly. Pelle played great but no service again
We all know what must be changed. We need Jay Rod back fast...We need Schneiderlin back to help our cause. Long should start over Mane for the time being. We need to add depth to the team in January. And we need some belief....I'm sure Koeman would be furious with the players. I know I am angry we lost..... |

We dominate most of the game 1 goal from 15 and Man Utd 2 goals from 2. We gotta finish
Bad mistake by Fonte...pretty sure he's well aware that he messed up bug time. Otherwise the defense was decent. You can tell that the chemistry with Fonte and Alderwiereld is better than Fonte and Yoshida but that just comes with experience....Notice how we have let in 6 goals without him at back....thats half of out total goals against...and those all happened these past 3 games....anyways..solid with the 4 besides that...I think Gardos should play more tbh
Midfield was Great Hesketh was actually a great sub..MILES better than Mayuka.
Forward....Soo happy Graziano Scored! he really needed something to build off from Tadic was better. Finally Mane is getting jaded. I feel like he hasn't matured as a player yet...He has immense skill and Immense talent but I feel like since he has came he feels like he doesn't have much to prove. No hunger. But I think when Jay Rod gets back he will challange for a spot and then we will see that competition and hunger from the players.
All in all, We lost the game ourselves. It will feel humbling. Either we will come back against Burnley in full force or there will be not much confidence. Hopefully we are back at full force. |

Very evenly matched game....heartbroken for Cork. We truly missed him....arguably the first 30 mins with him on was when we felt most comfortable....I hate the fact that soo many players are getting hurt...we deserved the point but unlucky to not get it.
Defense was solid even with Yoshida in who played great. Up until the end when we got overpowered by the lack of midfield.
Midfield....well everyone got injured except Wanyama and Davis....this is going to be a tough stretch for our midfield.
Forward. Tadic had a better game....Long was amazing! Mane underwhelmed....he needs to stop flaunting and just play the game. Pelle missed an open shot which he should have scored....Mayuka needs to go...he is not a top quality player honestly....he just makes me think we need Jay Rod even more.
Post match thoughts....I think we need to keep Gaston Ramirez...to add to our depth when he comes back from loan next season. I think we need to keep Jay Rodriguez as well. We need to buy another Central midfielder and we need to buy a back up outside back. We need to try and keep Bertrand and Toby as well. All we need is depth. And we can survive tough stretches like this. We can't lose against Manchester United or we can kiss our top 4 credentials goodbye....we need to at least tie to bring the confidence in the players back up. |

I would say in a nutshell....we started badly; we found our footing; we ended the half strong; we started the second half ok; let in a cheap goal; Koeman put everyone on offense; let in 2 more goals as consequence. The ref was terrible in the first half....should've been a PK...sorry but I honestly think it was. And some fouls given against us were just stupid.
I felt that Fonte and Toby were good in the back. Clyne and Bertrand played well...Bertrand played better. He tends to take on defenders more than Clyne. But Clyne can get into better positions. Our organization during the first half in defense was perfect. Schneiderlin had a great game....bossing the midfield Wanyama was Amazing in the midfield. Davis was quiet in my opinion but he doesn't make mistakes so that's good. Tadic had awful first touches in the game but looked good once he settled the ball. He needs to have more tenacity out wide. Pelle was good. But pelle needs to score. Like HAS to score soon.
I feel that tactically we were as organized as possible I feel like we have the offensive to defensive organized movement down packed...it's almost impervious but if someone doesn't fully understand the system then that is a maaaajor problem. That happened today in the second half and we lost it. Today Schneiderlin got hurt mid game and we put in Yoshida and switched Toby. I think that Cork should've came on he would've done a better job at pressing than Toby who is a better tackler. Yoshida shouldn't have came on. Tadic and Mane actually switched back and forth in the first half which was great and caused a lot of problems....I am now starting to think Long should start over Mane. I think. Finally Pelle needs to SCORE!
My question is......why hasn't Koeman played Cork recently....he is a great player IMO
We need to not choke against the big clubs.
We can't let Rodriguez go....we really need him on offense. I would rather sub him on to play than Mayuka...I think I would actually start him along side Tadic and Pelle if he finds his form.
This was the first team we actually "lost" to so yea I accept that and i am extremely dissapointed but we are still 3rd and we have beaten Arsenal before so I'm excited to watch that game. |

It was a OK game. We had the ball the whole time. Our formation was a 4-2-3-1 and it was good but bad at the same time. With that formation and Shane as a CAM, we dominated possession forcing them back. We were susceptible to the counter attack therefore. After a huge error we let up due to a counter attack. The game wasn't as free flowing. I don't think 4-2-3-1 should be our system right out of the gate. I think it should be the system when we want to be more direct and offensive. We should stick with the freedom 4-3-3 comes with. Since we were so offensive, we didn't bring out their defense. By bringing out their defense, we give Pelle more space and he can control it easier layoff and we can score. The only way to have done that is to have gotten rid of the CAM position and brought on another central midfielder aka Jack Cork or we should have played direct soccer but I know that is not Koemans style. Jack Cork should have started and we should have played 4-3-3.Tadic kept switching from the right to the left because he knew that the right side wasn't on. again Mane neglected to switch to the right side. I don't think Mane gets it but it will only come with playing together more often. Regardless....I think Graziano is due a goal at the moment. MOTM Clyne....got us the point. Bertrand was amazing all game....either of them deserved it. Fraser has to step it up. The defense can't be perfect every time so that's when you come in. In the end it was his fault but I think Toby could have handled it better. |

Forster had nothing to do again. Solid defensive display. Cork as silky as ever. Wanyama was as strong as ever. Shneiderlin was all around a general. Mane was great but I felt that he hindered Tadic. You could tell Tadic wanted to switch sides as he continued but Mane wouldn't let him probably because was doing so well on that side. Overall Tadic didn't have the best game. His final balls were off every time he tried to play it with his right foot. His magic comes from when he plays with his left. Pelle was snatching at chances but he was solid as usual holding possession and distributing constantly. He played his part. He NEEDS to score his next game. Long was the definition of a super sub as he allowed Tadic to switch constantly confusing the backs. He also provided that extra bit of pace needed to reach the balls to score. I commend him for that. He has gained much respect at the camp most likely. All in all, a solid win. We grinned it out. MOTM: Long. Honerable Mention: Bertrand. He was amazing. Taking the ball down the left and crossing the ball with pace and setting up the best chances in the first half. Clyne was underwhelming offensively but defensively was amazing as usual. Geat game. Happy we go into the break with a win. Now we have Aston Villa next. Hopefully we get another win. We March On. #COYR. |
