Saints V Tottenham Hotspur The Verdict
at 22:49:25

You can't play a high line if your centre backs have no pace. Also felt every time Stephens got the ball it was like time stopped and he went into meditation mode! Hope Salisu has some pace and we need another pacey centre half to go with him. Keep Stephens and Bednarek as backup. We played some good stuff going forward and could easily have had a couple more goals but every team will score against us with this high line and slow centre backs!

Saints V Sheffield United The Verdict

A similar situation to many of our games this season in particular since the restart. Lacklustre and dodgy defensively in the first half, bright and proactive in the second. Great to see Adams confidence growing and apart from Vestergaards lack of pace most of the team played well. Found the last few mins quite frustrating when we were doing tippy tappy at the back instead of lobbing it up front to try and get that extra goal for Ings. KWP and Salisu look like good buys and once all the loanees are sorted I think we might have a reasonable squad. Wonder what the odds are on doing a Leicester next season?

On This Day In History - FA Cup Semi Final 1976 Part 2
at 13:23:14

Great memories. Went up on one of the coaches with the Keogh twins Mick and Eamonn and stood behind the goal where both goals were scored. Remember thinking what a monstrosity the shed was and stones thrown at our coaches as we drove off. Happy days. For some stupid reason although we had vouchers having even gone to some reserve games we decided to watch the final at my house on the colour TV. Room was wrecked in when Bobby stuck it away!

Saints V Newcastle United The Verdict

I thought Valery looked OK a couple of times going forward but in defence was outmuscled and outpaced. Still think letting Soares go was a mistake. Marking in defence was poor and taking off Long when he still seemed to have some running in him another example of the strange choices this season. Still maybe we can get bought by a billionaire Saints fan and put some money in. Or we could all club together and buy it ourselves. I'll put in a fiver!

Hojbjerg Transfer Rumours Will Fuel New Contract Talks
at 17:24:10

I like PEH, he always puts his heart on the line and has been reasonably consistent in what has overall been a good period in the last couple of months. He is not the most gifted but I feel he makes up for that with effort. Suprised by so many negative comments about our team captain. All this transfer talk is as Nick says just media bollocks and his agent stirring things up. Can;t really see Spurs wanting him!

Why change a winning team. It was ridiculous positional choices and constant changes that got us in trouble earlier in the season. If Dnepro doesn't play replace him with Boufal.

Saints Injury News For Trip To West Ham

Think you mean right back. Personally I would prefer JWP to stay there. He provides some consistensy we badly need. KWP looked better as the game went on but JWP is better and Smallbone looked good so keep him on!

Saints V Burnley The Verdict
at 20:56:32

Selling Soares was a mistake. The defence was looking settled. KWP looked nervous at first but grew in confidence as the game progressed, but he offered nothing going forward. Yet another bizarre selection in Vestergaard over Bednarek. There is not one game I have seen him play where his hight has enabled him to dominate in the air and the second goal was down to him not keeping a close enough eye on Vydra and not having the pace to deal with a ball hoofed over the top! The freak first goal was down to Ings being half asleep as well as MaCarthy not being alert to a ball he should have had covered even if Ings should have cleared it. Dnepro was either told to not take anyone on further down the field or just lost his confidence to do so. The other player I thought was very poor although I have seen some praise him was Armstrong. His passing was awefull and a couple of times we would have had a possible clear chance if he had been on better form.
Boufal was looking good and losing Redmond is a problem but I would rather have JWP at right back and play Romeou in the middle and tell Dnepro to play right on their last man and take them on! Just hope this doesn't herald another period of unfathomable team choices and instability which would ruin the confidence that has been built up.

Hasenhuttl Suggests Kevin Danso Has Moved Up The Pecking Order
at 12:38:50

Agreed for a change. Can't see Danso as a solution at centre back even if he is up the pecking order and any cofidence he may have had has been knocked out of him by playing him at full back where he's looked like a flamingo on an ice rink!

Yoshida An Appreciation
at 10:21:50

Very sad to see Yoshi go and don't really agree overall with your assessment as I feel he was a better player and servant than you give him credit for. Suggest you go back and see cup final because as someone who was there, apart from the last minute goal my memory is that he had an outstanding game.

I'd rather have the tea lady at right back than Danso who has been a liability every time he has played there. I'd stick with JWP as I though he was excellent against Liverhampton.

All Change At Right Back For Saints
at 18:11:38

More daftness! The team has been playing well with Cedric at right back and the fee we would get is low. It will disturb the consistency to rejig the defence when it was starting to look a bit more solid. Danso has been treated badly and was clearly short on confidence against Spurs and has been a disaster in the other games he has played at right back. I would play Yoshida as he has played well enough in that position before.

Bednarek Major Doubt For Palace Trip ! Who Should Replace Him ?
at 17:45:27

Yoshi is the man for me. Also Ithink you will find that Yoshi and Vestergaard are usually both on the bench with one occasion each where it was just one of them. Of the two I think Ralph favours Yoshi for good reason as he is far sharper than Vestergaard and has the odd goal in him.

Ralph Hails Stephens As A Leader
at 14:22:00

Never one to miss a chance to slag off Yoshida Nick. Your article on him the other day was also very negative about him. It makes me wonder if you had some bad sushi or something. Stephens has stepped up to the plate but in the past has made far more mistakes that cost us games than Maya and although confident on the ball does not always distribute well. You also conveniently forgot that Yoshida has been a first choice regular more often than you want to admit and apart from Gabbiadini was our best player in the cup final 2 years ago.

Get Back To Basics At Arsenal
at 12:13:35

Agree we need some sort of settled side with Bertrand back in, but can't agree with your asessment of Danso as someone who hasn't done much wrong. Of his appearences I would say he had one game at left back he payed well, one game at left back he played OKish and the rest of the time he has looked like a donkey wearing roller skates! I blame none of this on him as he has been played out of position and his confidence is shot. I would go for Stephens and Yoshida in the middle as at least they have a positive 100% attitude and have been known to occasionally score. Bertrand on left and Soares on right. Hjoiberg and Romeu in middle, Dnepro or Boufal and Redmond out wide and up front Ings and Long to harry and hassle.

Board Shake Up Needed
at 12:29:19

There is obviously something not right in the background though I am not sure what evidence you have of the incompetence of the coaching staff. To me it is a confidence problem caused by Ralph's frankly absurd tactics and team selections. He is the one who chooses the team and the tactics and I presume sets the background to the coaching so having not seen a coaching session I would find it hard to criticise Watson Davies and Fleming. There obviously needs to be a shake up and the main part of that means to get a new manager who can actually organise a defense and form a settled team with consistent gameplans that the players can carry out.
