Saints At Leicester City The Verdict
at 21:55:16

Good point about us finally getting some luck, Davidargyll
Don't know if you play golf, but most golfers will tell you, you make your own luck. With hard work, team ethic, effective coaching and a real game plan we are definitely making our own. So hopefully not something that will turn against us again so easily

Saints V Watford The Verdict
at 01:37:02

Our pass rate was just 68% yesterday on just over 40% possession. Along with about 100 less passes than Watford, who had a better pass success rate.
That's a truly bad preformance by Saints.
By the way, Hjobjerg's success rate das 81%, so he das one of our better players, not one of our worst.

I have no idea why, when we were up and playing well that Hughes brought on Austin (aside from his disallowed goal and great media preformance). It immediately threw away our attacking threat and ability to break.

Hughes should definitely be gone, but no way that's going to happen until a new Director of Football is appointed to select Hughes replacement. There's no obvious caretaker bar Jaidi and that works cause too much disruption to the youth set up.
Let's hope we scrabble a few draws and not all defeats in Hughes remaining games in charge to at least give us a chance when the new man comes in.

Agree with that Warren but would require significant investment at the outset, that seems our owner isn't currently willing to make

Saints Ticket Price Policy Failure Sees Thousands Of Empty Seats !
at 20:29:09

I think thar is exactly it SaintMark1976
The clubs policy has been to supress attendances through pricing as they have no intention of spending money on the club that doesn't deliver immediate profits..The whole bull shit from Ralph about not filling the ground has been spouted since he joined but they have done nothing to change that. As much as the football is at last heading in the right direction, the club seriously have to do something about their eternal machinations of how else to fleece their own fans

Solid Start To Season For Saints
at 12:29:32

Totally agree with that Nick. The fan base have needed something positive to get behind and the back to back wins now give us that. Its too early to judge players and it is right for Hughes to try and establish a first eleven for the other players to break in to. Even if there is some disagreement between fans of who that 11 should be. Others will get their chance and they need to take those chances as they come up. Its would be highly risky to switch the team around too much before a playing pattern and familiarity between the team has been properly established. Pochettino and Koeman both tried to establish stability.

Roamer - i absolutely get some of the criticism of certain individual performances, but it doesn't seem sensible to judge players who are just starting in the Prem, like Moi and arguably Hoedt. Boufal had 2 years to establish himself and failed to do so. At what point do we have to cut our losses and move on, whatever his potential? If you think players shouldn't play, then who should? We have to look forward and Tadic and Boufal are gone. Whats the value in picking over it?

Saints In Talks With Mark Hughes
at 11:04:05

Underweststand it sounds like you are arguing that Pochettino and Koeman were rubbish. I'm not sure there is any evidence to support the assertion that outsiders are bad. If Barry Bennell had links to our club, I wouldn't use that as my benchmark for letting him run out youth set up.
Hughes is by far not the only choice. Bilic, Martin O'Neil, even Tim bloody Sherwood would be better appointments. Hughes is an English Pellegrino. Anyone, even Jaidi, Kelvin Davies or Steven Davies would be better interim for Saints because they must know a thing or two about the Premier League too. It's not like they need to sign anyone. Just get us playing football that that the players are comfortable with. Something Hughes in particular will have no idea how to achieve

Note, the Southampton Way saw our club have the most successful seasons in its history. Who in their right mind would argue we should turn our back on it just so we we don't appoint Johnny Foreigner managers. Saint_Bezzer?

Saints In Talks With Mark Hughes

Is the Saints PR team now the main contributor to the comments section? It's like the old Lowe media management days.
If appointing the sacked manager of the team that sits below us in the league is the best we can do, then we are indeed a basket case of the first order.
SanMarco, I don't need to jump off of a cliff to know that it will kill me.
As such, I don't need to see Hughes first few games to know he is most likely to take us down.
GeordieSsint I don't think anyone is saying we should have kept Pellegrino. But two bad decisions don't make a good one.
Saint_Bezzer that's the most rise tinted spectacle view of Hughes management career I've ever read. He's an awful failed manager. We fundamentally need a positive, motivational manager to get out of the mess we are in. Hughes is the opposite to that. We're fighting to relegated if we appoint him and the lunatics are running the asylum.

Hughes has to be the bottom of the list. Who cares if he played for us? He fell out with the club and got nasty when they rightly didn't want to give him the job.
He's the relegation choice manager.
If he's who we appoint, we haven't looked very far

Ticket Exchange Open As Liverpool Game Sells Out
at 11:56:44

The problem with the Ticket Exchange though Nick, is that its a bit of a con for the selling fan. Not only do the cub take a big cut of the price that the season ticket holder receives.
They also withold the money to go against next year's season ticket. So if the Season ticket holder does not renew their Season Ticket, the club pockets the lot.
Its a total rip off by the club and any fan would be wiser to pass their ticket on via other channels if they want to get good value for the unused ticket and want t guarantee that they actually see the koney

Saints Drop Into Bottom Three !

If it is true about Gao wanting to prioritise clearing his debts at the cost of relegation. He's going to have a bit of a wake up call trying to then get the club back in the EPL with a fan base that has lost belief and wants him out. And he'd need to be back in the EPL to make such a strategy pay off

Bologna In For Gabbiadini
at 13:56:48

We still haven't played Gabbiadini alongside a target man, which is his natural playing style and was presumably what we had in mind when we bought him. Yet, with talk of signing Carrillo, a target man, we may sell Gabbiadini in advance to balance the books for his arrival. Is it me or has the club completely lost its f****** mind?
So, are we going to play Long, who totally failed to react when gifted an open goal against Watford and has a history of poor finishing, alongside a new striker when we want to play 2 up front? Rather than the clinical poacher who banged 2 in against United before ,we as fans, even saw the opportunity in the EFL Cup.
Yes, that makes total sense.
Oh, and not forgetting we have Sam Gallagher, a target man, on loan because MP didn't fancy him. So where is he going to play if we keep him for next season? We'll end up being just as one dimensional as we are now.
Im not even sure the club really has a football vision any more. Its all coming second to bean counting.

Saints At Watford The Verdict
at 13:43:09

It sounds ludicrous, but it is starting to be believable that the club want to be relegated.
The only reason I can think is to get back the rest of Gao's money to repay his investors. He has 75m,can pocket the rest of the installment payments we're getting for players sold over the past few seasons, then can asset strip the rest of the club. He could easily bring in almost 300m in total and that didn't include our parachute payments.
That round be a great return for him with less than a year of ownership. It will also allow Gao to significantly drop the wage structure and fill our team out with youth players, having spent nothing.
Ridiculous speculation on my part, though starting to look more reasonable but the week. Our new owner is the Chinese Karl Oyston

Saints Injury Problems Mount

Underweststand, to your points, that's what I said about Valery. Play him at RB. The speculation is that we will instead play a CB at RB and not play Valery. Not sure where you are getting me saying to play Valery at CB?

As for the Hoedt head injury. Watch the interview with Pellegrino yesterday. It was him who said about Hoedt only needing put a few days off as a precaution. He then indicated there were other unspecified reasons why he won't play
