Snap re the Carlsberg, although I was handed it by smiling friends as I headed up from my seat. It tasted better than I expected but I put that down to Mbengue and co.
I was also at the Boro 4-0 HT game in 1998, which was just as staggering. However, that was a freak result by a pretty dire team, whereas this team is starting to get me a little bit excited.

My abiding memory of Robin Smith is of him hooking a bouncer from Curtly Ambrose for six in 1991. Not many cricketers could do that.

That season broke me and I rarely go to matches now.
Having supported QPR since 1978 and gone to matches very regularly since 1986 (I was there for the final that never was), I chose the 2022/23 season for my first ever season ticket. I remember a great Friday night down the Crown & Sceptre after we beat Reading to go top in October, but after that it was the stuff of nightmares - and I had to miss the one home win in the second half of the season, against Watford.
Our younger son, who also had his first (and probably last) season ticket that year, still goes to a lot of home matches and he was also at Bristol City and will be at Boro next month. Fair play to him but that season did for me. It was the most miserable season even though, to quote Blackadder, it was up against some pretty stiff competition. [Post edited 26 Nov 15:05]

We got promoted that season. You should buy Jo some new boots and a kettle this Christmas if you call yourself a true R.
The Crown was a good pub and I had a great Boxing Day in there in 1996. QPR won too, which was nice. |

I still don't dare mention the Mother's Day card incident in 2000 when, after a session in The Crown in Romford on a Saturday, I forgot to buy a card from the corner shop on my drunken way home, which I'd promised myself I'd do when I passed it several hours earlier.
She didn't get anything for the car either, but I don't that is what provoked what happened the next morning. |

Tomorrow will tell us a lot about the team and their prospects for the rest of the season as this will be a stern test.
Very hard to call but I hope that Derby performance was a (partially excusable) aberration and that the players will be back on song.

I was there, sat next to four Millwall fans in the Ellerslie Road stand - no idea why there were there but they behaved ok during the match.
When we won the penalty I told my mate we shouldn't celebrate if we scored. He agreed with me. Wilson buried it past Keller and we went absolutely mental.
We left promptly at full time. |
