Major and in some cases life threatening injuries as the glass houses occupied by those who gave us Pulis ball and Rory Delap long throws are destroyed. Stoke fans crying about shithousing and dull football? Come on, we've all had a drink. |

The local league here is struggling so any talent would be quite cheap to pick up. And there's certainly talent out there, however the fixture schedule here is very gentle compared to somewhere like the championship! |

Even from afar the stadium seems like an ill fitting, miserable place. By the sound of that its worse than I thought. Liked Upton Park a lot too. Cramped, not a great view, but it had soul. The type of ground that is missed when its gone. We've still got one.... |

Roy Keane quoted slamming him in the BBC online commentary is ironic when the type of player you might expect to do that sort of thing is someone like, erm, Roy Keane. |

A nice bit of revenge for Fulham after the absolutely disgraceful VAR decision to disallow the perfectly good opening goal they scored at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season. [Post edited 7 Jan 23:01]

Going back to the early 80s, a young Trevor Steven playing for Burnley who I think scored twice in a game we won 3-2. |

The black Russell Martin, same refusal to budge on playing style and rambling nonsense interviews. Absolutely dreadful appointment. Should be walking the league this year despite their weakest squad in a while but instead have tossed away a double digit lead over rangers. O'Neill is back until the end of the season so I'd expect a quick improvement. Couldn't get any worse! |

Surely its time for a club legend to step up. Someone who knows the club inside out and it's DNA. Sparky Hughes, you know it makes sense! |

They are extremely good at vanishing when things aren't going their way. I guess that's what happens when your entire self esteem depends on winning at sport |

Nice to see, and their rotten, bitter media can stick their 5-0 up their collective arses. If we were going to win one, the boxing day test they all salivate over and are all off work to watch is the one. And in two days as well. Superb English support in the ground as always. Portsmouth have also beaten the much praised Boro, so I think being aware of the potential threat they pose is probably a useful exercise. |

We didn't have any of that no surrender type bollocks when I went, shame to see that crap creeping in at cricket. I've noticed England football fans seem incapable these days of singing the anthem without chanting that nonsense in the middle. Its embarrassing. |

It can still be highly enjoyable. In early 2003, I went to the Sydney test with a few other English mates. We were 4-0 down and roundly expected to lose 5-0. We'd also lost all the warm up and tour games. As a result, I wasn't exactly looking forward to it. I will never forget walking into the ground and just seeing English flags everywhere. The huge amount of English support for a team that had been ridiculed for a couple of months was incredible. This is something the Aussies will never have away from home. All you see from them in England is a pretty small bunch of over 55s on some lame tour group thing, all wearing the same outfits. Maybe a few others dotted around. There had to be at least 10,000 England there and we sang and drank all day long. Michael Vaughan, at the peak of his powers then, hit a tremendous century and England went on to win the match. Despite winning the series easily, the Aussies didn't enjoy this game. Vaughan also got player of the series which really upset the local media. England's away support really is superb and deserves better than they usually get down here. They're also well used to losing though and being able to have a good time regardless. You're still in a great destination, with warm weather while the UK freezes, beaches, lots of other England fans around to drink with etc. The other thing is there's never a hint of trouble, unlike with football. Thing is there's no consequence for losing in test cricket. We get another go every 2 years regardless. No relegation, no tough qualifying to get through etc, so for me while annoying to lose its really not that deep. The worst part is the pathetic local media during England tours but I've become very good at ignoring that. [Post edited 23 Dec 2025 23:02]

Possibly wouldn't be a bad job for him to rebuild his career as a manager, assuming he's dialled down the arrogance a bit after his failures post QPR. If he does end up there, then its disappointing that we've already played them at LR as I imagine he'd be in for a difficult afternoon. |

The c**t chant was out of order but the what's the score stuff absolutely fine. As has been said already. he did a good job with a weaker squad than Stephan has available. I also think too many forget how unlikely us not being relegated the season he took over was. |
