Saints V Crystal Palace The Verdict
at 17:07:29

Hmm is spot on. If we'd converted just the division average of chances created we'd be around 10 points better off. In 45 years of watching Saints I can't remember such a lack of goals from midfield. Long is just a runner with absolutely no ability to finish Four excellent chances last night totally wasted. He's Championship or League one at best. Gabbiadini has shown what can be achieved with the service from midfield and the full backs. I'm a big fan of Puel - if we can keep Gabbiadini fit, replace along and JRod with someone half decent and bring on Boufal the future is bright.

Saints V Chelsea The Verdict
at 11:42:12

I see almost all Saints' matches live on TV and close ups of Austin show him often gasping for breath. Simply don't think he's fit enough for our style of play which means he lacks composure when given a chance.
i tend to guage how well we're playing by how many players offer themselves as options at our throw-ins. Yesterday it was woeful - Seemed that every throw from Bertrand or Martina they'd wait ages for someone to show and want the ball with no success resulting in regular lost possession.
I agree that Chelsea looked very strong. A good wake up call for us.

40 Years On ! The FA Cup Semi Final Saints V Crystal Palace

Of course the key moment in this match, let's not forget, was Rodriguez blatantly taking out their key man Peter Taylor early on - not even sure he was booked for it!

Alderweireld Deal Could Still Be On

I met Toby's uncle in Antwerp during his wedding on Friday. I sent Toby a personal message on a beer mat pleading that he stays with us. Pretty sure it will do the trick!

Saints Could Be Looking At Lowest Crowd Of the Season For Visit Of Palace.

Can't say I'm surprised that ticket sales are slow. 1 goal scored in 5 and none in the last 3 home games is poor entertainment by any standards and our standards were high.

I'm ashamed to have to admit that watching the whole of the WBA game on tape in South Africa I fast forwarded through the whole of the second half as we were mind-numbingly dull. Shameful I know but it just wasn't fun to watch.

Just imagine, a family of four watching the last three games buying a program, some drinks and nosh has forked out the best part of £400 and not seen us score!

Saints At Arsenal The Verdict
at 07:26:20

Teamcortese- "from the off played for a point" ???? What utter tosh. I can only imagine you stayed in your seat while the other Saints fans stood and you couldn't see clearly.

For the most part of the match we had two up front and the pundits on TV here in South Africa commented that we had dominated most of the first half deserving a goal. The well documented injuries forced our hand and credit to RK that he was still trying to win it at the end by bringing on Mayuka when he could have put on Gardos as an extra defender ( which ironically might have got us a point - but I'm actually pleased he kept looking for that win).

So you say that you know the Board and they won't do anything in the transfer window. I assume you mean the same Board that sat on their hands after the summer exodus?! But hang on, wasn't that the Board that made us one of the top Premier League spenders in the summer? Seems your knowledge of the Board is somewhat short sighted like your vision last night.

Saints At Arsenal The Verdict

No mention of Wanyama. I thought he was immense for us tonight. Hugely strong and getting better in possession every match. Also looking to play forward passes more often. To cap it all he's only 23!! Had to double check that. Frightening to think how could he might be for us if we can keep him.

Hi Exitclub. Yes it's tough being a Saints fan in exile! At least we get Terry Paine on TV here every Monday!!

Excellent Nick. It amazes me just how fickle so many Saints fans are or maybe it's just that a disproportionate minority rant histrionically on social media and on here in particular. Where we are today and, as you say, even where we might be in a few days time, is still absolutely light years from most expectations a few months ago. Perspective is everything.
By the way I live in South Africa now but remember you from Clive Foley's coach days with Trev's Travel! Were you on the coach that got the brick through the window at Wimbledon of all places I think it was?!

Well said Frank - although I recall Danny as shorter and bulkier - he reminds me more of his brother Rodney.

The Enigma That Is Ramirez
at 15:19:51

Good article - am an expat now so only watching the games on TV albeit with Terry Paine in support!

I really hope that Ramirez continues to get games as he and Lallana are our "WOW-factor" players in much the same way that MLT and before him Stevie Williams / Ossie would do something out of the ordinary to bring you to your feet and lodge in the memory.

On recent evidence taking him off and bringing Davis on appears to have absolutely turned us around 100% in the second half but it seems he is suffering most of all from the new high-tempo pressing game that MP has introduced where high fitness and stamina are paramount....his fitness needs to improve. (I wonder how MLT would have coped in this environment?!!)

The "sell" comment above is ludicrous in my view - he may not be the man to keep us up this season but I sense that with his confidence managed (bond with the Latin America manager?) and specialist conditioning - he could be the nearest we get to the new MLT next season.
