This. Absolutely.

The "lazy" "fearful" tags he got early with us were always wrong. he was watching, assessing, learning, rather throwing himself into a new league based on only on raw skill, assumptions and enthusiasm. What we're seeing now is the flowering of a very intelligent player at this level.

Yes. Unfortunately it nearly led to a goal for Oxford.

I'm beginning to wonder what's happened to Koné. Is it just that he's been asked to play deeper that shows up his lack of speed?

Yeah. His defensive play is better than it has been. Not great but better.

Smyth must think it's his birthday. He's been given a present of Oxford's left side.

January transfer rumours
at 19:05 20 Jan 2026

Personally, I’d sell Varane and Madsen in the summer, for hopefully £10m combined,

I will stamp my tiny feet and cry if we sell Madsen. He's the only reliable two-way mid-fielder we have.

Main Reason you started following QPR ??
at 20:32 18 Jan 2026

I lived in Stevenage as a kid. Back then — the mid 1950s — it was very much a New Town. I was from Sheffield and my schoolmates came from all over: Glasgow, Coventry, Liverpool, but most were from London. Their families, naturally, had football allegiances. London Transport catered for these by laying on football 'specials' to Highbury and White Hart Lane on Saturdays. My friends and I would watch the trickle of red and white, or blue and white, scarves pass our windows around midday every weekend.

One day a few of us were hanging out on our street at about 9:00am when this one geezer wearing a blue and white muffler walked by. One of mates started giggling. Then whispered: "See that bloke?" We nodded. "He's a QPR fan. Silly bugger has to get up at sparrer's fart to go and see his team play!" Smirks and titters all round. But I thought about this a bit and wondered why he'd do it. He must think this Third Divison South team were a bit special eh? Where was this "Queens Park" anyway? His dedication impressed me and stuck in my juvenile mind. So the first seed was sown.

Dembélé new boo boy?
at 19:40 18 Jan 2026

I'm not sure JS loves him that much. He's being played more than Poku because the latter has been permanently injured, otherwise...? If Smyth hadn't also been injured, or needed on the left-side, then we'd also be seeing less of Dembélé. Perhaps I'm wrong but my main problem with him is that, rather too obviously, he appears to playing for himself, rather than his team. Doesn't pass when he should, doesn't drop back and cover defensively, generally too selfish. Not a good look.

The Squawks annihilation of the Niners was just the opposite of the early game. Beginning with a TD run back from the opening kick-off it was never any sort of contest. It's amazing how quickly this Seattle team has come together. Their "Dark Side" defence is as fast as any I've seen in fifty years of NFL watching. Quite remarkable.

Many MLS teams get decent crowds these days. LAFC average around 22,000. Here in Vancouver the Whitecaps were over 26,000 (mind you they had an exceptional year.) Best in the league, by far, are Atlanta with almost 49,000 ticket sales per game.

RND - Whats occurring ??
at 20:20 9 Jan 2026

I don't think either Larkeche or Esquerdinha have been cooked long enough to know how well they might perform given time. One, or both, could do job for us down the line. Larkeche showed some decent signs in his few outings at LB. He was also doing OK in Scotland before his current long-term injury (which, admittedly, is a significant concern.) Esquerdinha however is still a kid. He has a lot to learn, but clearly has genuine talent which needs to be nurtured not binned.

Made the home opener against PNE, but trips to the UK are a rarity these days. Fortunately online viewing now exists. The late 70s to the mid 90s were pretty much an Rs free zone for me.
