Tonda possible ban?

Today FA have charged Saints and Tonda with a breach of rule E.3.1. This is the FAs standard misconduct charge and carries a potential penalty of 1 to 3 match ban and / or undefined fine. The more serious misconduct charge is rule E3.2 which carries a minimum 6 match ban but hasn’t been quoted by the FA or Saints.

The club and Tonda have 7 days to respond to the charge and then (assuming there is no new evidence to clear them) the FA will announce the outcome and potentially penalty.

Everton told to pay Burnley £35 million

So Everton break established rules to gain a sporting advantage and actually gain from that breach by staying in the PL at Burnley’s expense. Their fine is £26m plus interest.

By comparison Saints break established rules to gain a sporting advantage, didn’t materially gain from the breach (didn’t win any of the 3 matches) and are in effect penalised TEN TIMES the fine Everton receive.

Can someone please explain to me how that is a consistent application of the rules!

One thing to consider is that Saints are also impacted by Everton’s breach so maybe the club should be seeking similar redress…..
