Don't think he rates or likes Varane at all. I think he's all but frozen out now. A shame maybe but possibly a player that flatters to deceive. Not totally sure about his attitude either. Should flogged him to St. Etienne when we had the chance! |

100% correct Ned. Cannot understand how people cannot see how far we’ve come. I don’t think we’ve been away from home and from start to finish totally dominated a game like that, against anyone, for a long time. |

He looks a class above in every department. Physical, dominating, calm clever use of the ball. |

Hard watch?? Hard watch. I despair. It was a brilliant game and we played lots of lovely football. I’ve seen many many hard watches at Loftus Road. That was not one. Let’s appoint Northern’s match report as the adjudicator. I’m fairly sure he’ll agree with me than you Myke and Wilkins. But we shall see. |

Kingsbury saying on the Lloyd thread that he doesn’t rate him. I just do not understand how people come to these opinions. He’s starting to look top class. |

Bump for Kingsbury. |

Not completely convinced by Burrell? Odd. I think he's starting to look like a real real player. He's visibly improving his all round game and his pace and physique are top rate at this level. |

Julien Stephan's body language with Dave McIntyre is appalling. He looks visibly furious to me whenever he does an interview, which he is clearly forced to do and resents hugely. Did Dave write some negative articles about him or something? |

I think he’s a lot better than people realise. And the club have twigged it too. I expect him to do well. He looks like he’s moved on significant gear to me. Must be a nightmare to play against. |

The big spend over two seasons is the reason for our improvement. Mainly. The money has mostly been well spent but without spending it we would not have the squad we have and not be getting better. You can try and twist however you want - the above is true. End of. Remind me the last time we spent £4.5M on a centre back? £3M on a striker plus add ons? The answer is - the Redknapp era. And funnily enough we were high in the table then too. So the money is not the only factor but it’s the single biggest factor. Don’t know why that’s such a controversial fact… [Post edited 30 Aug 11:33]

Free transfers, highly in demand, big wages. Add Kone, Madsen, Saito, Edwards, Varane. And then yes - clearly - we’re spending a lot more money than we were a few seasons ago and the squad is relatively expensively assembled. It’s not a debatable point I’m also not saying it’s bad. I like most of the players we’ve bought. I think it’s starting to look like our best squad in a long long time. |

You’ll be surprised to hear I think having a good goalkeeper makes a huge difference. But honestly it’s just a much more expensively assembled squad. 3 seasons ago weren’t shopping in the Lamptey, Cirkin and Kamara shop. Serious money has been spent now and it’s shows. It’s hugely enjoyable. |

Ok. It's scathing because it's just like Conor Washington - who we wasted season after season seeing it he'd become good. 'He needs a run of games' 'He needs a big man partner' He could not be good. He is bad at football. People gave up on Joe Lumley for a lot less than Walsh. It's odd. I'm sure he's a lovely chap, I wish him all the best. But seeing as he can't dive for football, he won't ever be a top level goalkeeper. |

When will anyone understand. IT"S NOT ABOUT THE LOANS. Stop talking bloody loans. He could go to Real Madrid on loan and play every game and he still wouldn't become good. He will never be good because he lacks all the attributes needed to be a good 'keeper. It's like people just can't accept it despite the endless endless amounts of evidence. |

Ooooooo! Try to calm down dear. It’s not nearly as stupid an idea as you say. In fact it’s entirely the model we should be pursuing and are be pursuing. He’s certainly not irreplaceable. But I can see you’ve got all uppity so we’ll leave it at that. |

Controversial opinion. If we get offered £10 million, I'd take it. He's got some great qualities and I do love his attitude - he's clearly a good sort and ability-wise he streets ahead of many of our past strikers - BUT - Burrell is clearly the main man and as his hold up game improves it's harder to see how Kone gets in. Kone also blows wildly hot and cold. Sometimes he looks like a pub player. And my biggest gripe - oddly - is he really can't head a ball. Target man strikers should be good at heading. So yeah, I'd take £10 mill and reinvest £6M or £7M in the next one. |

True and fair. Many felt it was odd how harshly we binned off Nardi after a pretty decent first year. It was shoddy. In footballing terms alone as well, a very stupid move. My guess is Julien Stephan reeeeaaaally didn't rate Nardi. Didn't he know him from before? |
 | Forum Reply | Summer transfer rumours 2026 at 21:24 20 Aug 2026
Yes but he's not 'at fault' - it's not a mistake - he can't dive for a save a football properly. It's that simple. First goal vs Villa, he 'dives' like an old age pensioner. |
