I can only say what I see and I saw a very affable, funny bloke who was happy to chat and whose love for the club and its fans was obvious.
“Glad to have had that confirmed by a family member “ is nothing more than rumour and hearsay and the family member may have an axe to grind so I discount that right away. As for his “paranoid looney ramblings” it’s just harmless opinion. It doesn’t affect the magnitude of the service he gave the club.
He’ll always be Le God for me. |

Just as a follow up to this, he was funny, interesting, open and honest and engaging. I was waiting on my own to meet my mates and he came over, introduced himself and we had a lovely 5 min chat until he went off and introduced himself to others. He’s a real gent. His love for the club and the fans is obvious and strongly felt. And he hates Glen Hoddle which is a bonus.
He may be controversial at times but that’s ok isn’t? We can handle differing opinions can’t we? Anyway, he’s Le God so he can say what the f*uck he likes for me.
They say never meet your hero’s but I was massive impressed by him . |

But you’ve completely missed the point. I’m specifically saying I’m not fixated on the result (winning every game by 4 goals and non conceded). You need to develop a more intelligent thoughtful response. |

Or is it? Personally I don’t think this is right.
It’s been said many times on this forum that all that matters is the result and how we get the result doesn’t really matter. Getting the job done is another way of saying the same thing. Now, I kind of get this but only up to a point. Supporters want to see the win of course they do but we want to see a good performance as well. We want to be entertained. We want to see quick, crisp passing. We want to see creativity and we want to see us putting real pressure on the opposition.
We get this occasionally at the moment but overwhelmingly we see long periods of ponderous possession that bore the f*uck out of me and yes we’ve been getting the results (mostly) but I come away from a win a bit frustrated and deflated sometimes. It’s not the sort of football that’s going inspire the kids and make them want to support the Saints. We’ve had some great teams in the past where you come away from a game we’ve lost but thinking “that was a great game and we played really well”. I would argue that, for the most part, this is preferable to a dull win.
Russ - you got to address this mate. Especially if we’re going to be a reasonable side in the prem. In the prem we’re just going get swamped if we invite teams on to us.
Massive possession counts for not very much I would say. |

Then I genuinely don’t want you at St Mary’s. You get the team you deserve in life and if your approach is docile you get a docile atmosphere and a docile team. You are contributing to the poor atmosphere at St Mary’s everyone is complaining about at the moment. I’d rather see more empty seats with those remaining raising the decibels and the roof than a ground full of sandwich munchers. |
