Southampton Sack Nathan Jones
at 12:50:02

It was obvious to anyone watching the coaches when players came to the technical areas that the players weren't communicating with Nathan Jones, they were only taking notice of some of the other staff. Inexperienced manager for the Premiership trying hard to enthuse a team with 40% inexperienced players. Disastrous move on the part of our owners from start to finish. What will be our next disastrous appointment?

Nathan Jones Expected To Be Confirmed As Southampton Manager Today

Good to see the Saints board choosing someone with experience of the Championship because we look likely to need that next season

Southampton Linked With River Plate Coach
at 12:49:54

Saints have bought youngsters with a view to the next few seasons, but that's not helpful to anyone this season. We needed and didn't get an instinctive goal scorer in the summer, someone willing to go for a goal rather than a last minute pass to a mate. Please Sports Republic find a manager who is far far more experienced than your new players, one who has operated at the level of the UK Premiership.

Saints V West Ham United The Verdict
at 23:20:54

I agree wholeheartedly with much of the comments and the sheer level of them speaks volumes for how fed up Saints supporters are with the shambles of a club that we now follow. Maybe it was the manager's sidekick who departed last season who was the true strategist behind the throne. Ralf was supposed to be the guy bringing high tempo, pushing football and bringing through academy players. Here's a thought - play the under 23 team against Aston since apart from Ings and Romeo nobody else in the first XI seemed to have any interest in fighting. As for the goalie, sure he saved a couple of good ones but he also slowed the game down dreadfully - maybe that's what the manager's been telling them: slow it down, keep possession and funnel everything back through PEH?

Saints V Cardiff City The Verdict
at 09:52:22

Tad like a burial service - the Stephens giveth and the Stephens taketh away?
When will they learn in injury time to punt the ball mightily to the other end of the ground?
From what we witnessed there was a lot of pressing towards the Cardiff goal but a remarkable lack of wanting to actually shoot at goal from Redmond and Hjolberg?

Saints V Newcastle United The Verdict
at 09:52:57

Frustrating game given that Saints did all the hard work but in it's bottom of the table way quite entertaining. It would be interesting behind the scenes to see how this manager's coaching techniques differ from those of Pochettino and Koeman. I'm pretty sure they worked their teams a damn sight harder. We either need a better goal scoring coach or sports psychologist?

Saints V Crystal Palace The Verdict
at 09:51:28

Yes we won - just but the real change came when Long and Ward-Prowse came on. Up until then there was too much side to side passing with nobody seemingly wanting to risk the attack at goal. Even the CP fans were talking about our seeming need for "just one more pass" in every attacking movement and no conviction to risk the sort of goals that have been scored against us in recent matches. Brilliant to have won but the opposition is frankly no longer in awe of us. Come on you Saints!

Saints Fans Set New Record Time To Decide Scapegoat
at 12:29:26

I don't have Pelle down as a scapegoat but it can't be said that he actually shone against WBA. A number of players seemed to have more dynamism about them including Fonte, Clyne, Tadic and thank goodness Schneiderlin is still there. Best buy thus far - Fraser Forster, in my eyes the only thing between us and losing our first home game? Give Pelle time but I agree that we are in the same positiuon as we were this time last year, i.e. nobody with the aggression to keep going for the goal?

Nicola Cortese Statement A Comment
at 15:29:24

Sorry Nick but I think your usual sensible analysis of the facts is way way wrong this time around. I thank Cortese for whatever he did or didn't do and you can't deny that Ms Liebherr's father did too. Who knows what's going to happen? You don't and we your avid readers don't. Only the Board of Southampton Football Club can know and sadly (maybe correctly) they're doing what they're supposed to do, which is manage the club's fortunes in the established Cortese 'close to their chests' fashion?

Nigel Adkins A Thank You From The Fans
at 16:59:00

Mr. Cortese is a business man. Perhaps Nigel was doing too well? If he were to let Nigel go on any further he might have lost out on the parachute payment. That's the way to do it, drop down, grab the money and then hope to go up again. What a joke. We would have to support the incomer even if it were a trained donkey because we love the Saints, but I wonder what Hr. Liebherr would have done?

Saints V Millwall The Verdict
at 10:06:54

Our Nigel says that he takes full responsibility because Saints played the way he wanted them to. Pity his vision wasn't the same as the Millwall managers? Millwall came out wanting to win and played as a team from the outset, close tight passing, always moving forward, working for each other and punting the long ball into the corners where players were on the end of it and pushing for the Saints goal.
Saints on the other hand seemed to think they deserved to win, punted the ball about in defence with long, lazy passes and when they lifted it over towards the front it seemed to be aimed at no one in particular. Lee ran around a lot but to what effect? Harding blocked quite a few runs down the right. Guly was a liability and I'm surprised he wasn't booked for flattening the opposition. De Ridder was a one trick pony.
Second half, Nigel had presumably said something because we came out with a bit more urgency. Ben Reeves was a revelation and had more about him than most of his team mates. Lambert and Lallana one can't fault, but boy do we look a world away from anything like a potential Premiership side. I hope Sharp brings something to the table, because there's not much else on it at the moment.
Stir the pot Nigel, start playing the likes of Ben Reeves and Ward-Prowse, get some forward moving fight back into this complacency.
