It could just work , with Armstong , Tella and either Adams or Gyokeres up front with Smallbones providing quick forward passes . when ever i saw smallbones play he was always forward thinking and wanted to pass it quickly unlike most of the current squad who fiddle and diddle and end up going backwards . smallbones and Alcaraz could provide the ammunition where we play them and in what shape i dont know .
above all the ball needs to be played quickly at all levels and we just cant do that at the moment is it |

Getting to Southampton for an early kick off 7.15 doesnt work even when its a 7.45pm many are still out side as the roads into Southampton from surrounding areas north Hampshire and Berkshire are a nightmare. Also its live on the TV and as has been shown in other games Saints dont look too clever against lower league opposition which is a worry for next season in the championship ??. I think given the dross of this season all season ticket holders should have been given a free ticket . |

well done southampton , when i saw the young french lad up front i worried for him , but credit to him he has now got his goal and did press quite well up front , Armstrong also found his role of the press and played really well , we still need an experienced guy up front to lead the line as Che did look pedestrian when he came on but held the ball up well in the corner at the end .
Well done to the mid field and the back 4/5 as they played out of their skins and got tough with City we will need many more games like this if we are to survive but its a start and Nathan deserves his nights sleep now before the Everton game . We need to be physical with everton on saturday just like they did to us earlier in the season . COYS |

Lyanco is what saints are all about heart and effort , we do not have the world class players needed to outplay and steam roller teams at this level . so we have to win the battle first . AKA the old days of the dell with Benali/magilton/Dodd/Monkou and co . i do think defenders need to be able to defend first then attack if there is time and space and for too long defenders ( full backs ) are used as wingers. yesterday if walker peters had been fit i dont think he would have coped with the physicality of Arsenal down the flank . Caletta Carr is coming on now and will get better so i am looking hopeful for the future. We still need to score goals and i cant see where they are coming from especially against teams who sit back against us . considering JWP ( set piece expert) with the amount of corners we get we score very little goals from them . I cant remember the last time we did?. But well done to the team yesterday it really made my day . |

The major problem was we didnt get that centre forward in the summer to replace Broja and Long that is criminal and not Ralphs fault , once the dutch guy didnt happen should have gone and got INGS or someone with some presence up front like Goykeres at coventry to not get anyone is just wrong and we are now seeing the affects with only one striker on the books hardly prolific Che Adams . |

Agree with the write up yes i watched the whole game and couldnt understand the omission of romeou as we need to compete in the midfield and as for not playing Lyanco instead of bednerek or alongside is shameful. as Brentford just outmuscled saints all over the pitch .
And i agree italian football would be best for bednerek , not as fast paced and the strikers not as physical as long as we get £20m plus for him would be glad to see him go as you can clearly see he cannot read the game and doesnt know what to do when he gets the ball at his feet which is shocking in this day and age at this level . We need someone like Dan Burn or Lewis Dunk that sort of mould . |

I would pay 10m for broja as i think he has all the assetts that you need to survive in the top flight , strength, speed and skill and can strike a ball and above all height which is what we have lacked for a few years .
Che Adams has been poor in recent weeks and has had 3 years here to get it right this lad ( Broja)looks twice the player he is and as for Adam armstrong once again great skill and can strike a ball but too small and easily pushed off the ball we need height around him for him to survive similar to Pelle for Mane and Lambert for Lallana . |

Excellent piece , i do agree Austin definately has a big chip on his shoulder with regards Southampton , it all went downhill for saints after he signed and replaced Pelle ( what a joke) couldnt lace Pelle's boots. JWP will only leave for one of the big 4 and it would have to be for more than the Grealish Transfer £££ as he is a more complete player with an end product . |
