Fanzone tomorrow?
at 22:15 19 Apr 2024

Anyone know if the fanzone is on tomorrow? I can’t see anything about it on the official site

I think normally it is only on for 3 o’clock kickoff, but maybe 515 is close enough?

Got two young nephews coming up from Bournemouth. want to show them a good day and minimise the risk of them becoming Cherries

Why were the Boro fans booing Chair? Is it for the rock throwing allegations or something else?

New Year's Resolution
at 18:14 9 Jan 2024

8-year-old son: One of my New Year's Resolutions is that QPR don't get relegated.

Me: You can’t really influence that, so I’m not sure it’s a resolution.

8-year-old: When I go to a match, I’m going to shout really loud, and I’m not going to ask for a shirt, so they have more money to feed themselves and get strong.

Things to love about Marti
at 10:57 2 Dec 2023

1. He can win without flogging our players to death. Amazing to get a win where we rested our best player for 45 mins, and we haven’t racked up exhaustion debt that means we’ll lose the next three.

2. Substitutions that work. What a delight to have two games where our manager out thinks his opposite number. Can’t remember the last time that happened at QPR.

3. Making the squad deeper. Bring new players through and suddenly the squad doesn’t feel quite so thin.

4. What a way with language. ‘Achieving not deserving’ is a great phrase. (Would be interested to know if it a translation from a phrase in Spanish or Swedish.)

Two swallows don’t make a summer and all that, but let’s savour the good times while they last…

A small suggestion

Could the goal celebration music only be played if we are losing by two goals or less when we score?

Playing it when we 3 down on the 90th minute rubs salt into the wound.

Club Shop: Out of Rs

Due to free shirt printing offer and popularity of the names 'Armstrong' and 'Chair', the club shop ran out of Rs at the close of business yesterday. True fact.

How to know when away tickets go on sale?
at 12:15 2 Aug 2023

I'm keen to go to the Saints match (not to watch the football particularly, more to meet up with a friend)

I'm off on holiday next week, so I don't want to have to check online every day.

I see the Cardiff tickets were announced on Twitter yesterday and went on sale the same day. Is that the normal scheme of events, or is there a way to find out when the tickets will go on sale?

Anyone with a spare ticket for West Paddocks on Monday?
at 14:03 6 May 2023

A few weeks, I'd said I'd get the wife a ticket so she could come with the family for the last day of the season.

I didn't expect the entire section would be sold out! (What are people thinking of... the whole stadium is almost sold out for a dead rubber after a disastrous season )

Anyway - I'm in the dog house. Can anyone help?

Happy to pay face value if anyone has a spare for West Paddocks.

Have a go at shouting hoops
at 09:55 8 Feb 2023

Amidst the hoopy doom, this message that made me smile.

My 10-year-old son's has a school friend who comes with us to games. That friend send me this message trying to get a ticket for his 5-year-old brother.

Things I love about this message:
1. It is sent immediately after the 3-0 loss at Hull. Enthusiasm not dimmed by an abject thrashing.
2. A 5 year old is potentially going to have his first QPR experience against Milwall, during a terrible abject run of form. Welcome to the club! Things can only get better.
3. Best of all, what a great phrase for supporting QPR: 'have a go a shouting hoops'

Tickets for tomorrow at Swansea?
at 17:29 2 Sep 2022

I've just realised I'm too late to buy tickets for tomorrow, as they are off sale on the QPR site and it says no tickets are on sale at the ground. Are they usually accurate about that, or might they actually be for sale at the ground? (I noticed Away tickets were on sale when we went to the Blackburn match)

Or does anyone have 3 tickets spare? (Ideally 1 adult and 2 kids)

If we go, I'm assuming the worst case is we'll have to watch from the Swansea side?

(Any hints or advice much appreciated, as I am a bit of a newbie to away matches.)

QPR coach travel... experiences?
at 14:28 21 Jul 2022

Thinking about going to Blackburn on the QPR coach (due to train strike).

What are the coaches like? Do they tend to be rowdy or is it a calmer crowd? Would they be suitable for a 9-year-old and 11-year-old?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Thank you, Clive!
at 00:04 17 Jun 2022

I’m unusual here, in that I started watching football in my forties. I’ve got two boys, now aged 9 and 11. When the eldest was 5, I took him to a QPR match. He was swept away with enthusiasm.

The next season we went to a couple of matches. The season after, a couple more than that.

This season we took the plunge a bought season tickets. We’ve had so much fun following the highs and the lows. Bonding memories that I’ll treasure forever.

I’d like to say thank you to the club. The boys have brilliant fun at the Fanzone: wonderful that QPR puts it on for free. Renaming the stadium Kiyan Prince, and putting on the first-ever women’s match at the ground, show it is an organisation with its heart in the right place.

I’d also like to say thank you to the players. Loads of them have stopped for a selfie or a signature. An absolute highlight of the season was when Ilias Chair borrowed our Morocco flag and then gave us his shirt! Off-the-scale excitement. Also loved Albert’s celebration at Birmingham - what a cracker at the one away match we managed.

Most of all, I’d like to say thank you to Clive. He’s been a huge part of my pleasure of following QPR. A few years ago, as someone who knew next-to-nothing about football, I couldn’t really make head or tail of what happened in a game. There’s just so much going on! I’m sure the regulars on this forum don’t appreciate that watching football is a skill. Clive’s keen eye and brilliant turn of phrase have been an education, helping me gradually get better get a better picture of a match… and enjoying it in review when I didn’t. What a talent.

If you read this site regularly, do contribute to his Patreon. Loft for Words is clearly a labour of love and it benefits us all. Clive is too polite to push it, but he deserves every subscriber.

And here’s to the new season! (Just bought seven season tickets... nephews and kids' friends and kids' friend's grandads are joining the throng.)
