Another wonderful King Kev moment at the Dell, was his overhead kick goal from just inside the box. Unfortunately it was disallowed for offside by another player. David Armstrong I think. Now sadly they are together again.

1st May 1976 FA Cup Final Day Wembley Stadium

My abiding memory besides (signing the hymn Abide with me) was on all the over bridges on M3 were fans with scarves and flags. It was as if the whole of Hampshire were wishing the Saints success.

The journey home back down the M3 was just the same. That’s never been repeated and probably never will.

It truly represented, what Saints fans have always known; ‘There’s only ONE team in Hampshire’.

3rd April 1976 FA Cup Semi Final Day At Stamford Bridge

It certainly was a fantastic day in London.

I think we spent the evening, after the match, in Kings Road.

As for the match, Saints were in control throughout. Malcolm Allison and Don Rogers were the star attraction for the opposition. Both overshadowed by Big Lawrie and Mick Channon.

Best remembered for Paul Gilchrist long range goal and Peachy penalty.

Thank you for your ‘not so tongue in cheek’ contribution.

I too remember 2003, when there were many ‘ other ‘ fans in Saints end at Cardiff.

Again after final whistle,it felt like Saints had won , rather than the ‘other’ team.

I suspect it will be like that, late on Saturday night.
