Afraid I have to agree with all the previous comments. It was a shocker of a performance. we looked disinterested in this "derby" and were bullied for on the beginning. B'mouth were up for it, we weren't. Shocking referring decisions, injured players, wouldn't score if we played until Sunday, just one of those horrendous matches where nothing would go right.

I just hope this isn't the start of a bad run like around Christmas. We have a bad habit of good run, bad run, good run... now is not the time for a bad run.

95 + minutes later, nerves are shattered. Early dominance paid off. Yoshida, pops up when you least expect him! We are talking about him again but positively this time..

Defended doggedly once more which is very encouraging. Showed great character and backbone and couldn't be happier with the win. Had Shane and Charlie taken their chances it would have eased the pressure a bit. Having said that, for all West Hams pressure they didn't really threaten but when balls are being lumped into the box, they could fall anywhere. Especially in the 94th minute...

As for Wanayama's sending off, I think it is a little harsh, looking worse then it was. From what i could see, he tackled between his legs (so to speak) and didn't chops the legs down. No doubt, it added the pressure on us but we stood tall.

We march on the the next match!

Happy with a point. Thought the team as a whole played well. Were well organised and looked solid. First half was our better half and you would expect Arsenal to come at us more in the second half. Maybe a few matches back we would have crumbled and lost 3-0 so we are moving in the right direction. Full credit to Forster, great display. Also thought Wanyama, Fonte and Romeu had good matches.

Attacking wise we had no real clear cut chances. Mane I think is lacking a bit of confidence at the moment. and do with being rested for the next game. He's done a lot of running but his finishing has been woeful of late. Tadic for me should be on the bench and come on as a sub. Has maybe a 10-15 spell where he's on the ball in a whole match than he fades out of it completely.

In summary, a good, deserved point if perhaps a little fortunate but it's about time things worked in our favour.

Ah, savour the moment! A sweet victory. Overall we were strong, organised, well disciplined and played as a unit, with a game plan. Downsides were Mane,. He really needs a goal and Tadic. Pretty ineffective on the pitch. United were poor and I'm delighted we took advantage of them on their home turf again. Another clean sheet too.

If we can keep this consistency going, hopefully we can finish top 7. Austin, 1 attempt on goal and scores.. that's what we need. Top marks to Shane Long. Worked his socks off today. Would like to see him and Austin starting together next match.

C'mon Saints!

JWP scoring 2 goals or do I have double vision??!

Have to echo most the above. Great team performance.Davis Man of the Match for me. Long great game too. Targett is playing well and seems to play better further forward where he doesn't get caught out with his lack of pace tracking back. For me, his lack of pace is his Achilles heel.

West Brom are no pushovers. They keep it tight but we thoroughly bossed them. Great show.

Only downside for me is Mane's lack of goals. He's been in some great positions recently and fluffed it. No taking our chances is what has put us in trouble. Hopefully with the signing of Austin, things will improve. As for Pelle, I am a fan of his and I think a lot of his work goes unnoticed. He does gives us another option. Can I see him staying beyond the end of the season though, no.

If we put in some solid performances now and remain tough to beat in the next couple of games, I'll feel a lot more positive is us kicking on from here.

C'mon lads!

Aceofthebase - I don't believe that fines have the effects or impact they once had. Not with the wages that the premiership players are on these days. It would need to be a sizable amount or else fine the whole squad...

As for extra training, I can't see that working either.

Public shaming - as leaving him on the bench, may work. Have people ask the question why he wasn't playing. Have the player come out and explain to the fans why he let everyone down. He knows the rules. This is twice it has happened to him.

Another poor, shoddy performance. We just don't seem to take a game by the scruff of the neck and fight. Both teams had great chances, maybe Norwich best of all in the first half. Long with a great chance fluffed it. These are the opportunities, away from home, when we are struggling make a massive difference.

At the moment, I'm taking on a glass half empty approach. There's no point in talking about Europa League position when we can't beat the "weaker" teams around us. We are playing like a relegation side.

As for Mane, I agree with RK that he should be dropped if that is the rules of the club. As soon as a player shown indiscipline you have to nip it in the bud or it will filter through to the rest of the players and make the management look weak. Yes, it may affect the overall performance of the team and let the fans down but it is the player who is to blame, not the manager. The player disrespects his team mates, cub and fans. Is it a case of trying to stir up trouble to get a transfer? Wouldn't surprise me.

I fear the defeat will be blamed or over shadowed by the sending off of Wanyama but in truth, it goes deeper than that. I fear the spirit in team and the playing for each other is gone this season and you can't buy that in the transfer window.

Same old story. You just knew what was going to happen in the second half and it followed the script. Total domination 1st half, then second half a different team comes out. Yes, West Ham, made a couple of changes you'd expect that. We badly needed to score a 2nd in the 1st half when we were so on top and we had a couple of great chances. We have to be more clinical.

Had we been able to get Yoshida on before they scored, would it have made a difference.? As it was, what a flukey, ricochet goal! 4 Saints players around the ball and we still make a hash of it.

It's so frustrating to see us play so well and then shoot ourselves in the foot on a regular basis. I'm rapidly running out of hair to pull out….!

C'mon lads, sort yourselves out and kill off a game !

Cuco Martina, stand up and take a bow.. What a stunner of a goal !! A special mention also to Shane Long. His pace caused Arsenal problems all night.

Great overall performance and a result that I did not see coming Everybody worked as if they really wanted a result. Too many of our last performances have been pedestrian like without rolling up our sleeves and getting stuck in when things ere going against us. A lot of heart shown last night which was very encouraging. I hope now we can keep the momentum going and climb the table again.

Tactically, we got it spot on as we did when we beat Man U away last season. Were Ozil and Giroud actually playing last night?? ? Well done Ron, whatever he said during the week worked a treat.

On a side note, was watching the game on BT Sport. Robbie Savage and Ian Wright… An alien with no concept of football would talk more sense then those two. At least Hoddle has some tactical acumen.

3 festive points in the bag, excellent.

Agree with Codge. Confidence is rock bottom at the moment. We started really well and had a right go. But again, we just fell right off. Spurs were just better than us from 20 mins on. Some horrendous defending and again conceding 2 quick goals just really killed us.

What disappoints me most is that when we go behind, we create nothing in attic to get back in the game really. Why can't we fight back like Leicester and Bournemouth did (ok, b'mouth didn't score but they bullied us 2nd half). we just seem to pass the ball and get nowhere fast.

Had Mane scored in our good spell who knows what might have happened but it's hard to see where a win is coming from. sat season whilst we struggled for a period to score, at least we were tight defensively. Now, we are struggling to score but are leaking goals, stupid goals.

C'mon Saints, 3 points for Xmas please!!

Another poor performance I'm afraid to say. Created nothing of note. Where has our pass / move / overlap play gone? Some times we play such beautiful, silky football. Other times, we can't put 2 passes together

Had the keeper not pulled off a great save from Davis, who knows what might have happened. It seems our form dips when we get to the Christmas period..

I have to give credit to Gazzaniga though. He pulled off some get saves. He's never filled me with confidence with his previous games but today I thought he showed great promise. More of the same please.

Great overall team performance and a fantastic result. I thought we showed too much respect to Chelsea in the first 20 mins or so and stood off them and allowed them to play and control the game . Was a bit disappointed with Steke for conceding the goal which was practically a replica of Willian's goal against N'castle. Thats the negative over.

Positive is a great, confident team showing. I thought Pelle was fantastic yesterday, his hold up play excellent Sadio was quiet for most of the first half then came alive and ran Chelsea 's back line ragged! VVD was excellent, calm and composed. JWP was great when he came on. Cedric / Bertrand played great. Just a great team performance. Even Davis scored! shock, horror!!

Saints fans were fantastic, full of voice!

On Chelsea, Ivanovic is a thug!

"IF"

IF Pelle had scored his second goal instead of hitting the post.
IF we had cleared the ball properly instead of fluffing about.
IF the linesman (sorry, referees assistant..) had given off-side.
IF we had stuck to our game plan.
IF we had kept it to 1-1 longer into the second half.
IF Yosh hadn't under hit his back pass (or was he attempting passing to Fonte?).
IF we hadn't given Utd so much space!
IF De Gea hadn't pulled of a great save from Fonte.
IF we had got a goal back earlier.
IF we want to win games and climb the table.. we need to keep our composure.

Both sides huffed and puffed. Both sides lacked quality.

Todays match reminded me a little of last years home game to West Brom. Defensive but lacked creativity.

Today was about not losing and ideally keeping a clean sheet too. However, our lack of guile in attack was disappointing. Had Mane stayed on, maybe we would have got something as his pace did seem to cause Watford problems. Aside from that, we resorted to long ranges shots that never caused any problems.

Romeu and Fonte were the stand out players for me followed by Cedric.

A point and a clean sheet at least gives us a foundation to build on. I am a tad worried that we do not have enough about us at the moment to break down a determined, defensive Danish side though. We really have to come out of the blocks in that one.

First have was very pedestrian for our part. Too slow in moving the ball which allowed the opposition to sit back soak up any chances. Was disappointing to concede a goal when we did. Second half we played better, moved the ball quicker and seemed to have more intensity about us which should have been there from the start.

Thought Caulker's goal was legit, Congrats to J-Rod took the penalty well after been left to wait to take it. Targett had a better game last night, JWP actually had some good crosses / corners / free kicks last night. Mane was jinking around as usual, Romeu had a good game but may have suffered a little from picking up an early booking. Bic Vic had a poor game I thought.

Best prize of the night though goes to Midtjylland for time wasting...

Strangely, I thought we seemed a bit flat today and didn't seem to have much of a game plan. City played well but I think we played in such a way as to make them play well if that makes sense. Just like the game at St. Mary's we didn't pick up the runners up coming from midfield. That seems to be a big difference between us and City. When we get in positions out wide such as they did, we try to find Pelle or "the front man" whereas City play the ball back and have runners coming in from midfield which they score a lot of goals from. Sadly, we find it hard to even hit the target..

I was pleased for Kelvin that he pulled off a couple of good saves today. Mane & Wanyama had a good game overall I thought.

Delighted to see Stevie G and the boys get hammered 6-1. What a way to go out!! Looking forward to watching the highlights of that one...

It's going to be a long summer but can't wait for next season! COYR

I was speechless after last weeks horror show against Leicester.Today, I'm speechless after today's performance (first half especially). Where has that team being hiding?! Not a day for negative review or criticism though.

The pitch looked great, the sun was out, the fans were in high spirits and full of voice. We played high tempo, attacking football. We wanted 8 but got 6!

What a goal by Long! and "Catziano" got the cream!

Oh happy day!

What a shocker of a performance. Up there with the defeat against Sheffield Utd for me. Nobody played well. I thought we lacked a leader on the pitch today. Someone to get riled up roll up the sleeves and get stuck in. It looked like we were of the belief we just had to show up to win.

Long who is normally so industrious did nothing, Pelle got no service at all, Fonte looked rattled Elia & Djuricic for me add nothing to the side and I hope we don't waste money on buying them. Clyne didn't bomb forward.

Yes they got 2 penalties and we had a player sent off but we did nothing to warrant anything from this game in my opinion. I'm now looking over our shoulder at Swansea... Villa and Leicester both have momentum now with City on the last day. I'm getting nervous...

Such a shame we couldn't keep it tight at the back for a win. Unlike us to concede 2 goals. Whatever about the first being lucky for them, the 2nd, I felt Yoshida was exposed for pace and I thought Kelvin should have done better to cover the angle.

Spurs didn't deserve anything from this game. Better finishing would have seen us cruise this one. But that has been our issue recently. Fantastic 2nd goal by Pelle and great persistence for the 1st too. Mane really needs to look along the line to avoid being caught offside. He has the pace so I feel he can hang more behind the defender. Clyne was very quiet going down the wing in contrast to Bertrand who I thought had a great game. Hopefully Morgan will be fit and hasn't done his knee in.

Leicester & Villa won't be easy games I feel now as they both seem to have their tails up.

With Liverpool drawing today, had we won at Stoke and again today, unfortunately it's all "ifs , buts and maybes"...
