Southampton Cannot Afford To Fail Against Leeds United
at 12:52:41

Has that top photo of Che Adams kicking the ball between Adam Armstrong's legs been photoshopped?

There are 2 things about it which don't look right: A. Armstrong appears to be twice as big as Che Adams. B. Whatever size he was, Che would have hit the ball against his leg.

I'm Sorry Ralph ! But You Got The Selection Wrong At Everton
at 11:57:35

It doesn't really matter whatb the rest of the selection is. If McCarthy plays, we let in 2,3 or more goals and we lose. He has the worst saves to shots ratio in the league. He hasn't kept a single clean sheet for 8 months and in that time he's conceded 41 goals in 15 games. Our only clean sheets have been when Forster has played.

So, conceding 3 was almost inevitable and it will be the next time McCarthy plays as well. It must be totally demoralising for the rest of the team, especially the defence, seeing him in goal behind them.

Southampton At Everton The Verdict
at 11:23:40

Ultimately, the difference was the goalkeeper. If they'd had our goalkeeper and we'd had theirs, the result would have been at least a draw and we'd possibly have even won. McCarthy concedes an average of 2.5 goals per game. It's no wonder we always lose when he plays.

Southampton Agree Fee For Blackburn Rovers Striker
at 12:06:14

This is good news. It's not guaranteed that Armstrong will continue his Championship goalscoring form in the Premier League but he has great pace which is a key factor at this level, and with the brilliant Livramento creating lots of chances for him, he should be fine.

It would be great if they could both play at Everton.

Now, we need to ask Bournemouth if they would please take Long back and, with Broja coming in from Chelsea, maybe they could take Obafemi on loan too.

Southampton V Athletic Club Of Bilbao The Pre Season Verdict
at 13:13:22

On a positive note, I thought Tino Livramento was absolutely brilliant. He looked a class above all of the other players on the pitch. He is going to be a real star.

It's surprising that Chelsea let him go but they did the same with Kevin De Bruyne and Mo Salah.

Southampton V Athletic Club Of Bilbao The Pre Season Verdict
at 11:24:10

When I saw Harry Lewis warming up in goal at half-time, I was optimistic that he was going to play in the second half and disappointed when he didn't. Lewis should be second choice to Forster now. McCarthy was statistically the worst goalkeeper in the Premier League last season, with the worst saves to shot percentage, and he continues to get even worse.

He is the only goalkeeper who gets consistently beaten at his near post, where a good goalkeeper should never be beaten. He manages to do this by crouching down and making himself small, leaving space to shoot into.

He has slow reflexes and so starts his dives too late and he also shies away from physical challenge by retreating into his goal. He always looks indecisive and nervous and you can see the defenders don't trust him. He really is shockingly bad and should never be picked for Saints first team again unless we want to be relegated.

Southampton V Levante The Pre Season Verdict
at 08:45:18

I wondered why the Levante team had such high shirt numbers - only one player had a number between 1 and 11 (#6 Duarte). But, then I saw they have a home game against Alaves tomorrow, where I guess they need their first team.

Southampton At Swansea City The Pre Season Verdict
at 12:18:37

It was a very good performance. Saints dominated and had Swansea penned back in their half for most of the game. Armstong was really outstanding and Nathen Tella looks like he could be a real star for us this season. Fortunately, in this game, Swansea hardly got near our goal but on the rare occasion when they did MCCarthy looked as nervous and mistake-prone as usual. It is worrying that McCarthy could still be in goal for us for Premier League games. That's going to cost us a lot of points again this season and it shouldn't have been allowed to come to this.

Southampton To Sign Chelsea Central Defender
at 22:11:53

Coming from Southampton is obviously a strong part of his identity because even on the official Chelsea web site, in his profile, it's the first thing they say about him:

"A Southampton boy, he is a strong, imposing central defender who made five appearances for the youth team while still a schoolboy. He has also represented England up to the Under-17 age group and signed his first professional contract at the club in March 2019."

Let's hope he has a long and successful career here at his hometown club.

Why Southampton Can't Let Danny Ings Go Cheaply !
at 11:01:24

£25 million is a low price for one of the Premier League's top goalscorers, especially as clubs will need more English players now that we've left the EU. Newcastle paid £40 million for Joelinton and Chelsea paid the same amount for Shevchenko.

Ings Rejects New Southampton Contract But Nothing Changes
at 10:53:56

If the rumour that he has rejected a contract offer comes from someone inside the club, it indicates they really want to sell him, but don't want the fans to know that, as does the fact that they have already put in a bid for a Blackburn striker.

That's the way Les Reed used to operate when he wanted to sell a player.

Will Mario Lemina Be Saints New Central Defender Or End Up At Newcastle
at 09:21:35

Ben White, a central defender released by Saints academy, is being sold for £50 mill+, Tyrone Mings, another central defender realeased by Saints academy, is currently featuring for England in the Euros, and Jose Fonte, our former central defender has just captained his Lille team to the French league title with the best defensive record in Europe. Meanwhile, we have conceded 9 goals twice and £30 million has been wasted on Hoedt and Lemina. If only the club had been better run, we would have one of the best groups of central defenders in the country as well as money to spare.

One Day To Go Until The Premier league Fixtures Are Out !
at 12:44:27

Siverspringsaint, to be fair, Bednarek did for Poland what he does for Saints: turned his back instead of facing a striker who was about to score and trying to block the shot. There have been so many examples of brave defending in the tournament so far, with defenders throwing themselves in front of strikers' boots to stop goals, but not from Bednarek.

Ward Prowse England Omission Highlights Southgate's Losing of The Plot !

That's because Ward-Prowse is not a right-back. Southgate only really wanted right-backs in his squad. He's picked four of them but he said he'd have preferred to have more.

"Euro 2020: I would have picked more right-backs for England squad - Southgate"
