Reuben appointed …
at 17:45 24 Feb 2023

Nick, thanks for your correction, its like being back at school again. As an infrequent contributor, I thought the idea of the forum was to develop discussion on current topics, not to belittle contributors and score petty grammatical points. I think most on here understood who I was talking about and yes, I well remember watching Reuben (the first) from The Dell terraces.

Reuben appointed …
at 13:12 24 Feb 2023

Really great that the club are showing some faith in Reuben, but why not match his youth, enthusiasm and inexperience with an old head, my shout would be to give Sammy Lee a call. He’s been in the game all his life, he knows every trick in the book, his man management is brilliant and the players I’m sure would respond well to him. He’d also be able to put an arm around Reuben’s shoulders and give him guidance on what will undoubtedly be a very bumpy ride.

Support England but not FIFA, by not watching any of the games.

Great to see Maya Yoshida in the starting lineup against Germany, third WC, 122 caps for his country and over 150 games for Saints, what would we give now for his experience in our back line.

August2022

Never a pessimist, but we’ve five games in August, three at home and two away. I can’t see us getting a great many points, what would be a good return for the month?

Does that mean that the one match ban now automatically goes to the cheat Vardy, who rolled around like he’d been hit by a snipers bullet?

Man U / Liverpool protests
at 07:22 3 May 2021

Supposed Man U fans displaying the same degree of arrogance as it’s owners ‘we’re Man U we’ll do whatever we like’. Hope the footballing world realises that this freak show in no way represents my club and the wider English Football League.

So you own a big arze crane and watch as a coach load of Liverpool fans and a coach load of Pompey fans are teetering on the edge of a cliff, you can only save one set from certain oblivion.

From the level of responses it would appear you are a git, who is also miserable.
Over fifty years waiting for a reasonable shot at the trophy, don’t take this rare moment away from us.

World Cup...dreading it
at 22:46 6 Jun 2018

I think that the football will be a great spectacle, but fear the Russian ultras may spoil the party and create the headlines. Even if the Cremlin backed Ultras are kept on a leash, there’s still the Serbs and Croatians and the Germans against the Polish to consider.

World Cup...dreading it

I’m with you Kemp, I think this is the first time that I can recall, that there appears to be little or no expectation on how well the England squad will perform, perhaps this pressure free environment might, just might, spur them to achieve something remarkable. I’m still going with Spain though.

Can we now be realistic about Mark Hughes?
at 09:37 26 May 2018

For me I’m happy with Mark Hughes and his team. A couple of seasons of mid-table, no theatrics and no stress would suit me fine, if he can re-produce the old Saints style along the way then I’d be very happy.

Beware the ides of March
at 19:28 6 Feb 2018

I agree with your 8 points forecast, perhaps my 10+ is a little optimistic, especially as other than the Stoke game the other three are all away. That said, I still think March will be pivotal and have every confidence that whatever happens in February, we’ll push on and secure our premiership status.

Upon her chest tattooed were the prices of ale
And for the sake of the blind upon her behind
was the same thing in brail

Mines Thatchers Cheddar Valley cider, although on a hot day it’s bloody dangerous.

A good point well made, although in the Irish Republic I rode a horse called Mary Hinge in slippers, through a bog and loved it, but it still wasn’t a sport.

Cricket, golf, boxing, golf, snooker, golf, darts, golf, horse racing....I could play all these in my slippers, therefore not sports, just games.
