Mbengue reminds me of a nursery rhyme called 'There was a little girl' that has the line 'When she was good she was very, very good. And when she was bad, she was horrid.'
Stephan commented in his post match interview that we should have been 2 up at HT. I agree. We dominated the first 45 and should have capitalised more than we did.
Then in the second 45 we saw an increasingly familiar drop in momentum. Stephan must 'find a solution', as he'd say, to this horrible habit we have of being worse in the second half than the first. It's killing us.
The song that got me into Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino. They're almost an institution in the heel of Italy. I saw them live a good few years ago. One of the most wonderful concerts I've been to.
Worth the wait, Clive and a great bit of analysis, Zak.
Given the paucity of our attack in recent games, the question is whether we should throw him in from the start on Saturday? It would give Wrexham something different to think about if nothing else.
Surely with RDN unable to play 3 game weeks and Esquerdinha out injured, Field must be retained until the summer? I don't think there's anyone else who can do a job at LB.
Stephan has trusted Dembele and has given him an extended run of games. Now however, I think he's only starting him because of the injuries. Once Saito, Chair and particularly Poku return, he'll surely be dropped to the bench. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see Vale start ahead of him on Saturday.
WLS player ratings can be a bit weird at the best of times but to give Smyth 5, the lowest mark of any player, is really bizarre: https://www.westlondonsport.co
Frey must be on his way this month so we needed a third striker. Kone's been played to death. Once Burrell has returned I'd imagine he'll play off the bench, for a while at least.
Looks like the lad is one for the present and, hopefully, one for the future.
I agree with you about Morgan. I think he's overdue his chance in CM, at least off the bench for 30 mins. If we're serious about the young players' pathway to the first team then Morgan must not be left on the bench. Play him.
You haven't imagined Stepan's reported pragmatic approach. He's even said himself that he picks a team and formation according to the players he has, rather than adhering to a particular footballing philosophy.
That said, I agree he is too wedded to playing two up front and using Kone as a second striker. Given the current injuries, I'd have thought it was a good time to change to one striker and three midfielders.
