Southampton V Tottenham Hotspur The Verdict
at 15:57:58

Good report. One thing I haven't seen reported is the huddle after we went 3-1 down JWP called all the players into a circle ( while TH team were milking the goal celebrations) and they had around a 15 second pep talk. JWP looked animated but maybe others too, but it worked - that was a strong indicator why we bounced back I think and maybe a reason people stayed - we were on a mission.

Would love to know why Willy was despatched so urgently right round the pitch with 2 minutes to go with a message for Charly - wonder what it was that he didn't understand in English but did in Spanish!?!

Enjoyable afternoon, felt like a win.

£12 Million Bid Lodged For Danny Ings
at 16:20:56

I would welcome him back with a bonus payment for 10 goals. That is language he would understand.

But, it comes to something when he is even being talked about - says a lot about the whole footballer market in January and also about how attractive Southampton is more widely. Neither are good for us.

Striker Said To Be Close To Southampton Transfer
at 10:31:24

Without stating the obvious, we need a goalscorer now. Someone who can put the ball into the net - not know the theory on how to do it, or be able to do it in a year or two, we need it now. Otherwise sleepwalking into relegation.

So it’s a no from me. Overpriced and over rated on current form.

+1 Danny Ings.

Southampton V Nottingham Forest The Verdict
at 18:10:38

A new low.

Leaderless on and off pitch. Confused players not doing the basics. Trying to play new shape and system but not succeeding.

Nathan Jones is like a rabbit in headlights, fresh out of ideas and is a shouter not a coach.

To think we had Ronald Koeman and Mouricio Pochettinho - sat behind the dug out last night thought where did this go so wrong?

No time to give him time. Sorry. Unless we are happy to be relegated. That may well be the misguided plan.

We have all worked with people who are over promoted. Nathan could recognise this himself and resign gracefully or needs to be sacked with an apology to the fans - and an explanation how we came to think this trussonomic experiment in football management ever got off the ground.

Then whoever agreed it needs to go as well.

Southampton At Fulham The Verdict
at 12:05:31

We just seem to be in a groundhog movie. Same old same old. Season ticket holder here since 1975.

Yes we played better but that just confirms what has happened before. We played poorly, then played well, poorly, poorly, well. Confirms inconsistency. But somehow worse.

Seen nothing in the new manager to give any confidence, indeed we have the jam tomorrow hopes and expectations of players coming good, but when tomorrow comes we are back to the mediocre nonesense of individual mistakes and no leadership on the pitch.

Who is advising the new manager and his team? Seems to me we are re living 2021/22 and pt 1 of 22/23 again now as if that all never happened.

Ralph wasn’t the answer, but we still don’t know the right question to ask to know what the answer needs to be. As I said before I don’t think the new manager is the mystical answer either - but we are stuck with him.

Feels precarious.

Lyanco Keen To Leave Southampton After Falling Down The Pecking Order

Would rather watch Lyanco for 10 minutes than 90 minutes of mediocrity by our non cult players.

Lyanco is not the problem.

If Nathan Jones is the answer, we aren’t asking the right question.

A mistake on many levels.

Southampton V Arsenal The Verdict
at 10:23:02

JWP was off the pace compared to the higher standards we have seen him play. But other than that and Lyanco’s ‘unlikely’ hero comment I agree.

We were a different team in the final 75 minutes, led by Lyanco who always shows passion and commitment - so don’t get the unlikely tag. He may not be the best technical player but my goodness we need someone with passion.

Of everyone when we saw the team sheet, Lyanco’s name was the one we associate with chest thumping shirt wearing passion - something other team member would be well advised to follow. The team looked knackered when they walked out at the start - not enthused to perform - thankfully that changed with the new formation after going behind ( good decision to change quickly, but wrong set up at the start).

A good team performance that felt like a win - no mean task to take points from this Arsenal team - led by Lyanco and his keeping Martinelli in his box.

More of the same please Ralph.

St Mary's Matchday Information Saints V Leeds United

I find the removal of lids on bottles ‘for safety reasons’ a bit ridiculous - you could take a flask, an umbrella when it’s raining but a lid on a bottle has to come off. Why?

I think it was someone’s bright idea once and it caught on but actually what does it do.

If someone threw a full bottle of water - it will still hurt if there is a lid on or not.

The kids who sit behind me though are guaranteed to knock their bottle over once or twice a game. Causing spills and wet jackets when the weather normalises.

Plenty of things to tackle of govern - lids on bottles isn’t one of them and I don’t want to worry about knocking the bottle over every time we score!!

A pet peeve, sorry to rant.

Saints V Watford The Verdict

On a slight tangent, there is no connection yet between manager and fans. Okay not surprising, it was game 3 at home , incl. two friendlies, but I do think the club could have helped him by making an introduction at the beginning of the game. There was nothing in the friendlies either, seemed almost embarrassed he did, to be there. Compare to MOTD showing RK being introduced to the Everton fans and the cheers etc. etc. We did have a band though, so that was okay.....but seriously, you only get one first league game at home so you can't do the intro against Sunderland... Perhaps it's just me, but I sit up behind the bench and there was nothing really. I enjoyed the 2nd half.

I Have Eaten Xmas Dinner With Less Points Than We Have Now
at 11:17:51

What is impetus worth in football. I don't know, but something. The trouble with comparing like for like matches is the results in between. I don't disagree with with you slynch at all, but I just wonder with the matches all played together, an unbeaten run that was only stopped at the N London chickens, and an 8 -0 win against a former bogey team, together with a first win at Arsenalnil for 10+(?) years the impetus we have is different and must be worth something. Need a lie down over thinking on a Monday means I have peaked for the week. Arsenal nil fans in the office this morning are quiet, very quiet. We are not, but feet soon the floor ready for Saturday.

Time To Make Players Honour Their Official Club Calendar Commitments
at 09:23:26

I know it is tongue in cheek for a Friday morning, but the fact is with those turn coats going, we have a (much) better team/ squad and a manager who understands depth of options and plans B C and D. Think yourself lucky as well, it didn't include the physio!
