This! I read the Secret Footballer book last year and he covers footballers who've cheated on their wives or partners. No surprise that this is rife, but a lot of the girls apparently know it's going on but either allow it to happen or turn a very blind eye for the money but probably more importantly to many of them, the lifestyle and kudos of being with a PL footballer. Personal pride goes out of the window- they love being celebrities. |

It was a very sad story which many British sailors felt truly sorry about. However it was a fairly powerful French fleet which despite assurances would have been a massive threat to allied forces travelling to North Africa.
The French were given notice, admittedly not a massive amount, but enough time to either hand the fleet over or abandon the ships. Tragic but justified in my opinion. |

From memory, although the book is written as prose, it reads and feels like poetry. A very talented man with superb descriptive powers. |

I've been to Langemarck a couple of times and you're absolutely right about the German cemeteries. The statues are very effective and I find those burial grounds far more sombre than American, British/Canadian or French cemeteries. 50,000 burials at Langemarck in a relatively small space is quite thought provoking and brings the sacrifice of all sides into focus.
Likewise, the ossuary at Douamont is staggering! |

Thanks Loh. I haven't seen that one- is that a fairly recent one or something that's been there a long time? Judging from the fact you mention the IWG rather than CWGC, I assume it's quite old. I've been to the Salient a number of times but never seen that memorial. It looks enormous and very impressive.
I've visited most of the Western Front including Verdun and Chemin des Dames as well Le Cateau, Loos and many of the 1918 sites. Despite the fact that so much of it was trench warfare, so many of the different places have their own character and the main thing that binds them together is the fact that they're all heartbreaking. |

I've been there 3or 4 times and naturally the Canadians concentrate on the efforts of the Newfoundlanders. The roll call before and after the attack is a sickening statistic.
Thanks for the info on the SWB as so often the Welsh lads gained an undeserved poor reputation following Mametz due to some senior officers finding a scapegoat for failures elsewhere. Fortunately this was resolved at Ypres the following year but also at the cost of horrendous losses.
I'm pleased that you can walk the battlefield again as I found that really educational and surprising when I first visited Beaumont Hamel. The Canadians do this kind of thing really well and the tunnels at Vimy are also well worth visiting although I assume you've been there already. I did go to the Canadian museum at Juno Beach a few weeks ago and that's another excellent visit with one of the most moving films I've ever seen. I must be getting softer as I'm getting older, but I do know I'd hate to see my son or his mates go through anything like that. |

I didn't realise that the SWB advanced next to the Newfoundlanders. The Canadian students give a fantastic tour of the battlefield and it's somewhere well worth visiting.
You used to be able to walk through the old trench networks until 4-5 years ago and it was sobering to realise that although the Newfoundlanders had the higher ground, because of the lay of the land, the Germans could still see into their trenches. Their losses were horrendous and the fact that there are 3 cemeteries in a space about the size of the combined Liberty car parks is an indication of the scale of the tragedy of the place. |

Pies at Kidderminster, pasties at Exeter, being able to decide to attend away matches the night before the game. Being part of an inclusive group who had always loved the club and not dependent on success. Moaning about Soccer Sunday's bias, gloating when Wrexham beat Cardiff. Terraces and being able to move away from dicks, checking the free transfers from League 1 clubs and wondering if our ambition extended to players at that level. |

£1800 is an awful lot just to take a punt on. Your problem is that a lot of people think that Prince2 qualification means you can manage projects. It doesn't and unless you have the experience to back it up, it's nothing more than window dressing.
I've been a Prince 2 practitioner for about 12 years but it doesn't mean I can manage a project better than many other PMs with no qualification. Employers who understand projects know that the qualification is an enhancement rather than a sound basis to employ.
I don't mean to sound negative but if my employer hadn't funded the training, I suspect I wouldn't have done it. Almost 2k is a big gamble if you don't have the other skills and experience as a basis. |

Prince gives you some great basics. It isn't incompatible with Agile and I use elements of both on a daily basis but don't think that Prince gives you everything either. The training does (or at least should) tell you that you pick the bits you need for your own organisation or needs. The agile principles allow you to speed up the process and deliver faster.
Using Agile doesn't mean you can ignore things like Risk or Planning. If you do, you'll wind up with problems. |

I'd genuinely be sick if Amat left. Definitely better than Bartley, and give him a little game time and another year and he'll be on a par with Ash. Bartley is ok as back up though after Ash, Fernandez and Amat. |

They're hardly experienced either though are they? I'm not saying they shouldn't be criticised, but at least try to be a little bit constructive instead of some of the throwaway comments on this thread which appear to revel in the disposal of younger/less experienced players |

That's what I thought too. In any case, I'm not sure if I'd want him banned retrospectively for that, as it'll only help any teams they play against rather than the Swans. If it'd have been for violent conduct I beleieve that's a different thing. If we started analysing every handball, minor foul etc., the game would be ruined.
That said I do think there should be a citing commissioner for diving and simulation who would act retrospectively. |

Never found it greasy. If you cook it for the right amount of time, it's no more greasy than duck or chicken. You should pierce the breast a few times and collect the grease so it all runs out, and as someone else said, collect the grease and use it for roasties which are superb as a result. |
