Gordon starts again with what looks (minus Bellingham) to be the likely starting 11. |

I mean you might well be right AH but at the same time he has been making decisions based on form so it’s not conceivable he punts for Gordon who has been flying over Saka. Of course it’s all ultimately academic as we will be on the plane home the second we play anybody half decent in the knockouts. |
| Forum Reply | Eze for England! at 17:12 6 Jun 2024
Presumably it’s Stones and Guehi at CB, so it’ll be TAA and Rice infront, Bellingham behind Kane and then 2 from Saka/Foden/Gordon - wouldn’t be surprised if he goes Gordon left and Foden right. |

In fairness the same can be said of anyone - it’s easy to say you’d never go back if the Saudis bought QPR but if within a decade the club were PL & CL champions the overwhelming majority would happily park any morals they’d previously professed. |

I mean City’s point in this particular case is that the vote was 12 for, 8 against or abstain, with United now wishing they’d voted the other way so 55/45, far from unanimity to decide who can and can’t be sponsored by who they want. I don’t think they’ll win as ultimately the rules of the PL are all declared and agreed upon by members, the interesting part is that they’re claiming damages from the PL so in order to win will have to show proof of a deal that has been vetoed by the new rules. There aren’t even really many ‘benefits’ to this case as the proposed anchoring rules would mean clubs could have a £1bn a year shirt deal but wouldn’t be able to spend the money anyway, so there is clearly some sort of PL internal dirty laundry being aired in public. |

Motor racing & Athletics. Have to say that Handball is also good fun to go and watch live. Conversely as much as the swedes love ice hockey I just cannot understand the hype at all. |
| Forum Reply | Marti Contract?? at 17:37 31 May 2024
As already said, young squad setup to play the trendy high pressing possession football, with the Championshios outstanding player in 2022 and by Championship standards a blank cheque to mould the squad as you wish… Take them up, keep them up and you’d have plenty of offers. I highly doubt Burnley are seriously interested in Marti though, their board know even less about football than ours so it’s more likely they’ll do something dumb like go for Lampard. |

Brighton are talking with Steve Cooper - not sure what I think about that one |
| Forum Reply | Departures in the development squad at 15:25 31 May 2024
As with others, he seemed one the club were quite fond of yet at the same time he is 20 now and undoubtedly we will be looking to sign at least 2 strikers this summer so realistically it’s more sensible to let him go and see if he can cut it elsewhere. |
| Forum Reply | Marti Contract?? at 09:49 30 May 2024
I doubt Burnley will ultimately got for Marti, but I don’t doubt for a second he’d be bang up for it. They already play his preferred 4-3-3, play out from the back, have a young squad, parachute payments, are about to bring in £50m+ moving on some players and still have Benson who ripped the division up a year ago. It’s a good baseline for anyone to come in and do a ‘Dyche’ |
| Forum Reply | First Pre season fixture at 20:05 26 May 2024
Would it be too cynical to suggest it’s ’behind closed doors’ as they don’t want to sort anything out but if you just happen to turn up outside they’ll happily let you in? |
| Forum Reply | These Manager Appointments are Mad at 11:33 24 May 2024
I mean I’m sure Marti is already on the longlist for Prem clubs, but if you’re going to look in the Championship, McKenna is the standout choice and Maresca is probably more interesting with the City connection. I wouldn’t be surprised if Marti’s agent has told him to keep his phone on next to the pool as an outside bet. I imagine he will be very hot property once the first PL manager is sacked in Autumn. |

I struggle to dislike him for being willing to go and live in a hotel room in some weird places, especially when some players have neglected to help the club by taking a move outside London. |
| Forum Reply | Vincent Kompany to Bayern Munich at 12:51 23 May 2024
Everyone involved at Burnley says that Kompany is an incredibly impressive personality to be around so perhaps Bayern have decided they already have the players, they just need the right personality at the helm to get results. Everything I’ve read about Kompany is that he is completely fixed to one way of playing, which didn’t work with Burnley’s squad this year but he wouldn’t adapt. Maybe with Bayerns squad it turns out to be a masterstroke |

Possibly/ probably naivety on my behalf but it felt more like Textor doing him a favour at the end of his time here by hooking him up everytime the club asked him to go on loan and free up some money for more blood. After Ainsworth ditched him for Larkeche who he also didn’t like, he went straight to the Finnish champions, played Europa league football and has been unattached for 6 months. Certainly not a boring career. |

I mean personally I’d take Branthwaite but allegedly Southgate trusts Dunk so I wouldn’t be overly surprised if Dunk got the nod |
| Forum Reply | Southgate’s replacement. at 20:29 21 May 2024
Who knows with Garthiola! Considering the lack of depth in a deeper role in that 33 it must surely be Jones *or* Wharton who go |
| Forum Reply | Southgate’s replacement. at 18:50 21 May 2024
I mean my guess for the cut list is basically the same as Antii’s: 1. Shaw 2. Trafford 3. Dunk or Branthwaite 4. Quansah 5. Wharton 6. Maddison or Eze 7. Bowen I imagine they’ll set up: Mainoo/Gallagher———Rice Saka———Bellingham———-Foden ———————-Kane————— With Palmer and Grealish first choices off the bench for the supporting 3 but who knows with Southgate. He’s made a big play of leaving Rashford out for his terrible form so on paper he should probably leave Maddison at home too but it’s impossible to say. I’d be shocked if Grealish doesn’t make the final squad though. |
