Southampton At Aston Villa The Preview
Personally I would ignore Danny ings & concentrate on supporting saints, all the abuse does is fire up the ‘panto villain’ .
More often than not it bites you on the ass with the said villain cocking his ear to the abusers
Hasenhuttl Highlights Saints Playbook In Success Of Youngsters And An Older Face Or Two
Surely football or sport are completely different from other walks of life because there are so many variables. To say a manager shouldn’t make a mistake is rather misguided. If that was the case every game would be a stalemate.
Sport is human / emotional therefore adapting to situations & learning from mistakes leads to success!
Southampton V Everton The Verdict
Excellent team performance, brushed the toffees to one side & looked like we still had another gear.Romeu & jwp were so dominant but that almost is expected as the norm these days.
Only fault would be we could of scored a couple more .
One point on broja, of course we want him and he is so powerfully quick over those first few yards but he really does have to learn that it’s impossible to score all the time . Therefore settling up his teammates is a much better option when he’s drawn the keeper out but created an impossible angle. This is being very critical but it happens every game
Southampton V Manchester United The Verdict
I feel you have to look at this game positively but realistic,
Weighing up the chances a draw was about right especially bearing in mind FF ‘s performance.Didn’t think Stu had a particularly good game but to come away from old Trafford slightly disappointed with a draw speaks volumes.
The Fernandez swing should definitely have been looked at, I believe pogba was booked for his dissent not the challenge & maquires wasn’t a penalty for me .If that went against us ( & they often do) you wouldn’t be happy.
Southampton At Manchester United The Preview
What a fantastic performance midweek & one I feel has been coming since the 2-2 with Crystal Palace.we’ve been developing since then & I believe our only defeat was against wolves.A game that we genuinely deserved at least a point.
So going into Saturday full of confidence & momentum, I still believe most would except a point right now.One concern is CR hasn’t scored in 5 & if ever a player goes up against saints with that kind of stat we know what usually happens
Southampton Will Play West Ham United In The FA Cup 5th Round
A couple of questions
I believe we have to give 15% to away fans , is that correct?
Also saints give part of the Northam to away fans for PL games on police advice? I’m sure they’ve said it makes it easier to segregate & control.I’m not saying it’s good but it won’t change midseason
Southampton Right To Hold Steady In The January Transfer Window
Pretty much agree with nick & particularly colburn that if we had to buy in January it’s because we got it wrong last summer.
One thing I’m slightly confused over is Mccarthy, press reports were that he’d agreed to a new contact!Im not saying its a good thing but that’s what has been suggested
Southampton V Wolverhampton Wanderers The Preview
With wolves really finding their feet , going into this game would normally be full of nerves & grateful for a draw but with the momentum we’ve gained in the last 6-8 games & especially away to West Ham things are slightly different.Of course any premier league game can go either way but we definitely go into this one full of confidence.
Southampton At Swansea City The Verdict
I think both players have to learn quickly that if you’ve got a booking then the better decision is to let the player through & take your chances wether he’ll score or not.If he scores fair enough 1-1 is Bette than ten men.I feel those 120 minutes are really going to hurt us on Tuesday.
On the upside our response to going behind was terrific, I for one thought it was game over whe Swansea got there second.
Southampton At West Ham United The Verdict
Against palace when it went 2-2 it felt like palace would go on to win , when West Ham equalised (twice) it felt the same so for us to get results out of both games is a definite improvement in those situations.
Thought Fraser played well , particularly his distribution.Broja is obviously a star but I felt salisu was superb again today .
Look forward to a performance against spurs but realistically most would take a point
Southampton At Norwich City The Verdict
For me Mccarthy was at fault on both goals. Also as much as saints dominated the first half we were often sloppy with simple passes which kept Norwich in the game & in the second half it contributed to there head of steam. Salisu’s worst for a while & perhaps he & tino are tiring a little bearing in mind there age .I would guess Ralph took che off due to his international exertions & if Walcott scored as he should have done it would have been celebrated as a masterstroke. All in all fine lines that weren’t necessarily down to the manager
Aston Villa Target Hasenhuttl And Steven Gerrard To Replace Dean Smith
Personally I think there should be a transfer window for managers, some may scoff at this but we have it with players so why not.It would prevent this hire & fire nonsense that costs each club tens of millions & has seen 5 premier league managers sacked already this season.
From a saints point of view I assume those ‘supporters’ who were suggesting Ralph should be sacked & we were no better than a mid championship side will now be crying please don’t leave.
Southampton V Aston Villa The Verdict
Thought we were good in the first half but really need to press home that advantage when we’re so on top because you just knew villa had to get better second half.Saying that after the first ten minutes of the second half we adjusted really well villa didn’t threaten too much, more our nerves than Mccarthy having to excel.wouldn’t say they were awful but Salisu, tino & jwp we’re below the high standards they have set . The referee was bloody poor all round, bottled it with el-ghazi but could have given penalties also
Exiled supporter , Ralph has explained why he won’t play tino in midfield for now .There’s a detailed interview on Hampshire live .
Southampton At Chelsea The Verdict
We’ll put nick
I actually wrote exactly the same comment on line yesterday, the most disappointing result & performance was against wolves..Could of /should of got more against Utd, city & Newcastle.I realise good displays count for nothing if you don’t get results but it really is to early to get excited either way.You make a great point about Brighton & fit those clamouring for Ralph to be sacked I welcome genuine suggestions of who is available?
Southampton Accept Jannik Vestergaard Bid From Leicester
Like it billeewithers
The only one we wanted to keep was ings, would have liked a bit more for vesteergaard but as previously stated he had 1/2 a good season out of 3& at the start of last season most would have driven him to Leicester.
Desperate to keep Bertrand? done a decent job but didn’t look interested last season.
If jwp goes then yes it would be devastating but seamen’s has made it crystal how much he means.
Overall I think we’ve done well, good price paid for Armstrong & livamento & excellent loans
Why Danny Ings Broke Southampton Hearts
A few points
As James Beattie famously pointed out about 20 years ago loyalty is for fans not for players.
When Danny ings came here on loan many ( including myself) said why have we agreed £20 mill for a crock.
Remember jay rodriquez being our darling & we’re all saying leave him alone until he got that terrible injury & then it was oh well unlucky, goodbye.
Even last year when we were flying & Chelsea & Man U we’re sniffing around Ralph it was ‘ leave him he’s ours until we had a poor run and those same people are saying get rid he’s shit .
My point is it’s the nature of football & u it ta what saints have to do.
Why not enjoy kwp & his progression, enjoy salisu coz I think we’ve found another one there .
Short memories , we were top of the league nine months ago & cup semifinals.
I love this football club with an inherited passion but I don’t live the fan base that suggest we’re gonna get relegated the minute there’s a problem & then go very quiet when it doesn’t happen.
Felly1 I think you’ve got it about right,
Hasenhuttl Reveals Vestergaard Injury Worse Than First Thought
Why such a fuss about Salish?
It takes different individual’s different timescales to adapt to this level of football..A poignant example being vestergaard. For two seasons almost every fan didn’t think he was good enough & yet what a turnaround..Some players hit the ground running some take a while ( tadic, mane ) ,the manager has to be trusted.Talking of vestergaard, he will be missed in many ways, obviously defensively but also distribution & goal scoring threat. With our limited squad & intensity of football there is always going to be ups & downs but I think most would have accepted this at the start of the season.
